Yesterday was a really special day, even more so under our current circumstances, if that's possible. *So many wonderful speeches ~ I watched Robert Dole and he nearly broke down just before the end of his speech ~ and so did I. *My hat is off to Sen. Dole ~ he is a true patriot. *And yes Terri, I watched part of the President's speech at Normandy. *The part about ""The day will come when no one is left who knew them, when no visitor to this cemetery can stand before a grave remembering a face and a voice." is more meaningful IMO, because like Dole said in his speech ~ I'm part of the vanishing generation. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angel.gif *Not many of us left who have the reference point. *I only hope and pray that PC doesn't eradicate what really happened. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
Aberfoyle ~ I'm so glad you posted the bio of Col. John McRae http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif ~ I read about him being Canadian and nearly posted that also except my post was getting really loooooooooooong. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Good morning everyone! *I took the day off yesterday because I was so busy watching our Memorial Day parade. *Did I mention that we, Ironton, Ohio, have the longest continually running Memorial Day Parade in the country? *I feel that is something that should warrant national press (which would for once be good for our town), but I guess not . . .
I fired my very first gun yesterday. *At our cook-out at my uncle's we did some target practice. *I learned that as long as the potential-murderer coming at me is at least 7 feet tall, I'm safe, lol.
When I got home, I took a nap so I would have enough energy to sit up for a few minutes and then go back to bed. *I was wore out, but now I'm back at my full energy level. *And I'll be seeing my sweetie today, so I won't be here for quite a while. *But, I will be here later this evening. *Most likely, in the midnight hour. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Now that we are past Memorial Day, we have Independence Day to look forward to! *I just might watch that movie again this year . . .
You know, I saw O'Reilly last night (it was on during those few minutes of awake time), when he took on Harvard. *And some "enlightened" professor asked what was wrong with understanding the enemy's motives. *O'REilly said nothing, but it wasn't necessary to understand the motives in order to prevent a second strike. *A message needed sent. *That's when I remembered the movie Independence Day.
"We will not go quietly into the night. *We will not vanish without a fight."
O'Reilly will undoubtedly not be asked back, since he wasn't too fond of leftist bias and banning (like NPR, who now has the show "All Things Considered Except O'Reilly" (his joke, not mine). *If he is asked back, I'll be surprised, and I think he will be too.
Well, I gotta go get ready. *Got an early date today. *Andrea is coming over to spend some time with me here.
I gotta get to steppin' now. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/boots.gif

Good Morning http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif
Happy Monday....errrrrr... ..Tuesday. *I'll have the whole week messed up..always do when there's a holiday! *DUH!
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE AVS!!!!!! *Geeeeeezzzz, these games are becoming high blood pressure potential! *I shoulda known....Forsberg at crunch time! *What a spectacular hockey player!
Aberfoyle, you're up next in the nightly heart attack zone known as hockey playoffs! *(See how much fun you're missin' RIM!) *Leafs have GOTTA win this one. *They are limping so badly with so many people on their roster missing...it's gonna be tough.......
I checked around this morning and there isn't much news YET. *Why do I always feel like it's the calm before the storm when there's no terrible news? *It's becoming a daily occurrence....train wrecks, plane crashes, murder bombings, threats of nukes. *Oh, for the good old days of "normal".
RIM!!!! *LOVE the new addition to the Primrose family! *WELCOME KIKI!! *I've often thought about getting a bird, but never would because my one son is allergic...but bird's are COOL!!! *They're tweeting away outside right now thanking me for filling their feeders yesterday! *LOL
I was just informed this morning that a couple of my son's friends are coming in and staying overnight on Wednesday..so today I'd better get the house ready for that which is just a prelude to having the house all in order for my other son's friend <girl> who is going to be staying all summer with us from Arizona! *I'll look back on all this folderal in a few years and wonder where my hectic life went! *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Good Morning: Hope all of you had a really nice holiday weekend. Mine was lousy - massive headache Sat nite, followed by fever and nausea - doctor on
Sunday found out it was infected sinus - shot for nausea, antibiotics for infection. My headache finally subsided early this morning and I had my first food - half a breakfast. At least I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. I found todays link quite interesting especially some of the letters they received. The letters help make one of my points on immigration - it showed how ignorant these illegals are and the one thing we don't need is another underclass for us to support.

Hello All! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sunflower.gif
I'm in low gear again and I have to rachet it up one or two since I have places to go and things to do.
I've posted an article about an alternative voucher plan in Education. It'll be interesting to see what you think about that.
Other things are going on too. The President is just about to meet with the Pope, Russia has joined NATO, tensions continue to rise between Pakistan and India, a massive reorganization of the FBI will be announced later, we should be hearing the cause of death for Chandra Levy this morning, Bill O'Reilleys new radio show may be going down the drain. Just a sampling of the news. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif
RIM, it was a memorable Memorial Day. We laid some flowers here and listened to various speeches. Then I wound up my day with my evening telethon. I'm not used to so much TV.
Angelus, sounds like you had a good day. I think I saw that O'Reilley show at Harvard before. He was really received rather well considering where it was. Tell Andrea Hi for us!
Saber, that hockey game last night was really something. I can't believe that Forsberg is so good after not playing a single game during the regular season. :1luvu:
Der Atte! I'm sorry to hear you had such a rough weekend. It sounds like you are on the mend now though. Take it easy.

Greetings from http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag29.gif

Terri, there are some interesting links to click on there. *I'll grab some lunch http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/boots.gif and then come and read some of them. **
Thanks RIM for the comments about Col. McCrae. *His little home is such an interesting museum here in Guelph, Ontario. *I just love going there. *It's only about 2 miles from my home. *We have a "political" thing here in Canada. *As a doctor, he practiced for a little while in Montreal, Quebec. *But he was born in Guelph, did all of his schooling here in Guelph, some of his University and University in Toronto but they have these little snippets on CBC about famous people and in it there is no mention of Guelph and they call him "...this doctor from Montreal..." which gets our blood boiling! *
That's the Liberal Government for you! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/barf.gif
Saber, I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to watch tonight's game! *I have no nails left to chew off! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *I just can't believe that the Leafs have come this far at all. *They had an air ambulance standing by to fly Pat Quinn to Raleigh for the last game but he just wasn't well enough so I'm wondering if he'll be behind the bench tonight.
Angelus, enjoy your time with your sweetie! *See you tonight at midnight!:1luvu:
Get well, Der Alte! *No fun being ill in good weather!

Aberfoyle, I thought Quinn was there the last game! I could SWEAR I saw him....no? In fact, I even commented to my son about him being back. What in the world am I thinking?
http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif HI Der Alte!
Aberfoyle
05-28-2002, 12:43 PM
No, he was at the game that the Leafs lost, Saber.
But not the one in Raleigh.
The one he was at, he just got out of the hospital about 1/2 hour before the game and then went immediately back following. The game was in Toronto.
Now, tonight's game is in Toronto so I'm wondering if he'll be at it.
Good Morning Everyone (actually, afternoon, here), Welcome to the new members from over the weekend, seems like a more talkative bunch. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Just read all your weekend posts, and was touched by those from yesterday, particularly. Happy belated http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif Memorial Day http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif I would ask if everyone had a meaningful day, but it seems as if you did from the posts. RIM, regarding the article from late Friday; I didn't know there were any laws in Florida that force precincts to have bilingual workers (there aren't, of course) so therefore, there is no legal basis for any lawsuit that I know of. Do you know differently? Also, nice looking bird you got there. Just be careful he doesn't get shot (as you know, I know a few hunters up in your neck of the woods!) Also, I notcied that your Anniversary is about 10 years to the day (almost) before my birthday! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif BTW, Terri, mine is 1/24, since you asked. I also got choked up by Dole's speech yesterday. Back in my earlier days of being involved politically, I was the DeSoto County Chairman of Bob Dole for President 1996. Always liked him, and still do, as RIM said, an absolute patriot and excellent Senator, one of the best in recent memory. Angelus, have fun, but get some rest. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Well, it took me about 40 minutes to sort through the Precinct posts since Friday (because I did follow most of the links and read everything from yesterday). Regarding the parade yesterday morning in Sarasota, it was good and moving. Lots of vets from all branches including many DAV. My kids got to meet Katherine, who gave them one of her K.H. for Congress T-shirts to match mine. I am proud that my city and county are hugely patriotic, and that everywhere I go in our large county, I almost always see friends and other people I know. Great start to a hopefully better week for our country.
God bless.

I heard Rush talking about "Dasher" and Russert. *I'm glad I was able to hear it! *He is such a little twerp. *I almost wish people would stop publicizing him so much. *Russert should have had Bob Gramm on there too--(I think that's who he said admitted to having known about the info. also.) *But it is good to hear when the demos have to bite the dust! *Gotta run. *SYL
