"Elitist environmental activists" are promoting a regulatory agenda that is hostile to the economic and social advancement of minorities, says the conservative black leadership group Project 21.
The group said Earth Day -- observed on April 22 -- is no longer about clean air. Instead, Earth Day has become a platform for socialists and others who want to slow down the economy by suppressing the development of resources, said Project 21's Ak'Bar Shabazz.
According to Project 21, policies advocated by the environmentalist establishment show little regard for the economic priorities of the average American, and can be even harder on poor and minority citizens.
