As for the voting ballots being bilingual, I've always said the same thing. *How can someone who doesn't read, write or understand the English language make a knowledgeable selection in the voting booth. *And what's even worse, many of them don't even read or write their own language. :turquoiserolleyes: *Yes, Terri, I also find it incomprehensible. *I'll tell you how bad it is ~ where I work the cashiers many times have to write the amount on a piece of paper because the customer doesn't have a clue. *And when I say write, I mean hyroglyphics ie: ///// (meaning five) and holding up fingers depicting a number. *This is utterly ridiculous. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif *We're not talkin' about tourists here, we're talking about residents. *

About the bilingual ballots. That doesn't bother me too much - I figure there are a lot of people who are new citizens who may be still struggling (and trying) to learn the language. So help them out a little. What I have a HUGE problem with is not requiring positive id to vote! Virginia doesn't require picture id or verification of ssn or anything! The dems keep blocking this requirement because they say that minorities will be reminded of the literacy requirements after the civil war!

SueElise, my neighbors have been waiting over 7 years (I think) to become citizens. LEGAL citizenship takes MANY years. They've got plenty of time to learn English. The LEGALs aren't the problem.

I would agree with your anger about no ID requirements. We don't have any ID requirements here either and we're in COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS....world renowned democrat machine working overtime here!
