Sadly there has been a friendly fire accident in Afghanistan. One of our planes has dropped a laser guided bomb onto Canadian forces. At least four are dead and no word of how many injured. What a terrible accident! President Bush has called Prime Minister Chretien to offer condolences and a full investigation. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif *Our member Aberfoyle is from Canada and I would like to personally offer our condolences to her also.

GOOD MORNING http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif Terri & GOPUSA!
Another sad day yesterday. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif *And yes, my prayers and condolences go out to the families of all our service men and those of our good friends, such as Canada. *As the saying goes, "war is hell" and if not for these dedicated patriots we would not be a free nation. *God bless them, one and all. *
Just got an email (mass mailing) from Bruce Eberle of "Millions of Americans.com" and Bob Barr needs our help.
"Dear Americans,
I've just received an email from Bob Barr, who led the
charge for the impeachment of Bill Clinton. The liberals are
after him again. Through redistricting, they took his
district away from him and have forced him to run against
another Republican. They think that will be enough to get
rid of him. I sure hope not.
Check it out.
For America,
Bruce Eberle"
Here is the url for theCAMPAIGN DONATION FORM. (https://secure.chargedcontri bution.com/barr/default.asp?s=true&r=c&ref=moa)
Mr. Barr stuck his neck out "big time" during the Clinton impeachment and has always been a champion for conservative causes. *
Well, two days till "freedom". http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *And yes, Terri, I'll be off for a week (actually nine days) but I'll only be out of town three or four days. *I'm hoping that our hotel room will have a computer or webtv so I can check in. *
Guess I'll go check out that column by Ann Coulter. *It should be a doozy. *I love Ann ~ she burned the PC rule book long ago. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif
Have a great day all! *And Sabre, you too.;)

http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif Welcome to the http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif forum! We hope to hear from you both very soon!
RIM, it would be a sad day if we lost Bob Barr in Congress. Thanks for giving us this information. I didn't realize he was in that much trouble. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif *I've been wondering about Saber. Hope we see her soon.
Today the house will vote on the bill to make the tax cut permanent. If you haven't contacted your representative, please do. *
There will also be a vote on ANWR in the Senate today. It looks as though the opponents may be going to win this vote. The Democrats are going to go on record as being for keeping us dependent on the Middle East. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsdown.gif
Another interesting vote is coming up on the Border Security bill. I've put a news story on this in the Congress Forum.
In Current Events there is an interesting story about the effect litigation is having on health care.
And in Campaigns there are stories about the Democrats hopes that Bush is losing his conservative base as well as one about the possibility of McCain running for President as a Democrat. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tearhair.gif *I guess if all I had to offer was Gore, Hillary, and Daschle, McCain might look like a possibility! *Sheez! :turquoiserolleyes:

This is a very sad day here in Canada. *Thanks, Terri, for the comments.
I'm sure you've all seen the news articles about this unfortunate happening but here's an article from the Canadian perspective...

GLENNBAHAM! Welcome to http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/gopusa.gif ! We are delighted to have you here. I'm especially delighted because you are a fellow Coloradan! I've just visited your website and voted in your poll. The winner has to be Diana DeGette! That woman sets my teeth on edge. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Apparently, the plane crash in Italy is an accident.
The Senate has rejected any possibility of drilling in ANWR.

Hi all. Hope you all are having a good day. I've had a wonderful day (except for the heat and lack of air conditioning or even a fan). I've let the Democrats hear my opinion (as usual) on their forum. I'm registered there as koolkat (which I was going to do here, but someone took it already I see). While I am not exaclty a Republican (I consider myself independent), I am pretty conservative, and I like this party much better than the Democratic party. At least here you can get straight answers in non Politically Correct speak.
Well, take care all. God bless.

Angelus, I used to be an Independent but not for awhile now. I'm glad to hear you say you get straight answers here. That's what we strive for and people of all political persuasions are welcome. After all, very few of us end up in the same place as we started politically. It's a sharing and learning process.
The House has passed the bill to make the tax cut permanent by a mostly party line vote. Little Tommy Daschle promises defeat in the Senate. :turquoiserolleyes: *The fall elections are so important. We must take back the Senate!

I just heard that Robert Blake is to be arrested. He's under suspicion of the murder of his wife!
Terri

Yes Aberfoyle, both Robert Blake and his bodyguard have been arrested. All cable news networks have gone crazy. It's OJ all over again. :turquoiserolleyes:
The early explanation on the friendly fire accident seems to be that the pilot of the F-16 somehow was not informed of the training exercises that the Canadian forces were engaged in. The pilot thought he was being fired at. So far there is no explanation of why the pilot wasn't informed.

Well, I'm sure that there was a miscalculation in judgment for sure.

I'm sure too, that whatever the outcome of this, this pilot will have such a terrible feeling of guilt for the rest of his life.

Been so busy last couple of days. *Parents are here visiting from WI. They're sweet and not hard to please. *So very sorry about the very brave Canadian soldiers helping our country delete terrorists. *Because I have a 19 year old son, whom I love dearly, I believe I can imagine the grief of parents and family and loved ones who lost someone today. *I hope the families will remember no matter the circumstances--they died a hero's death. *Also, a dear lady in our church passed away tonight. *It is a blessing to know she is in a better place and the suffering she had on earth will seem like a passing day in eternity. *My husband and I were able to see her one more time yesterday and it was so heartbreaking. *
Aberfoyle--hope all will be well in Canada and we will remember them in our prayers. *I am thankful for Canada's help in our fight for right!http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif *
There's been a lot of talk on the local talk shows lately about how Elizabeth Dole is kind of out of touch and won't respond to any invites! *Pretty bad to not come to the capitol--Raleigh--I hope she doesn't make it. *Nobody will be able to replace our Jesse Helms. Wisdom is hard to find in younger men or women; but we sure do need some as strong as Jesse Helms! *

Ipara, I agree about Jesse Helms. I'm sorry to see his decline. It reminds me of what happened to Barry Goldwater. If Jesse was still strong in mind and body, there's no way he could have been taken in by Bono.
