Morning everyone. *I'm sick (or extremely allergic to something) and I'm incapable of sleep right now, so I'm here just a-postin' away.

I watched Hannity and Colmes last night. *For what is quite possibly the first time ever, I found myself agreeing with Alan Colmes. *They had a guest on who has filed a lawsuit against Bush, claiming he knew ALL THE EXACT DETAILS of the Sept. 11 terror attacks. *Colmes said that while he didn't like much of anything on Bush's policies, he found it ridiculous that ANY American President would let 3,000 Americans die.
Hannity was a bit more hard-line, saying this guy oughta be ashamed of himself, he had no evidence, and he oughta quit distracting the President with this idiocy.

Well, I guess I'll go try to do something else on this computer. *Maybe get some more of my song written. *And in case you haven't noticed, there is a new rant on abortion. *Just thought I'd advertise it a little bit. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hi all! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/28.gif

Here's a link to the exercise thing. It's really just one of those things that all President's seem to get involved in. Bush, First Lady To Promote Exercise (http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/story/0,1282,-1803840,00.html) The site where I originally saw it is down but this will do.

Lots of allergies in here. I hope you all feel better soon and don't sneeze on the keyboard! :o

Colmes really has supported the President for the most part when it comes to ridiculous 9/11 charges. <sarcasm> Although of course we must encourage frivolous lawsuits whenever possible because it is "our right" and we wouldn't want to leave any of "our rights" laying around unused just because using one of them doesn't make any sense. </sarcasm> http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif

All rain is welcome! *It's very windy here this morning but there is some thought it might turn the fire back on itself in some areas.

Good Morning All: Angelus, if you watch Colmes on a regular basis you will not think hes a supporter of the president - last night was an exception, big exception. The program is an excellant exchange of ideology with some excellant guests, Ann Coulter for one. How did you like the exchange with the counselwoman about the racist dog?. Hope all you sick people get better - I took Claritin once, when I had a sinus problem and it worked wonders.

Hope every one has contacted their states represenatives on the Judicary Committee to defeat HR 1452. See ya.

* *My final (maybe!) observation on racist dogs, pets, whatever. I have always noticed that dogs are extremely good at judging people, much better than people are. I do not believe dogs care much about race or anything else, but I know for a fact that some dogs that were teased by kids at some point in their life, merely do not like children, period; end of story. In general, dogs "sense" things about people, that we cannot fathom, much like most animals know when a storm is coming well before people do (and they don't have the Weather Channel either!). So since animals instincts tend to be more reliable and completely devoid of prejudice except for based on past experience, I for one tend to trust their reaction to people. They say elephants never forget, http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif the same applies to most animals.

DOND welcome to the Forum. Dig right in and post. (Another person's name to decipher...)

Well I have been trying to plan a vacation for some time now,and I think I finally have all my ducks in a row! My father lives in Colorado, and I havent seen him in almost two years, and he has only seen my son once, so I think I have all the arrangements done, and we will be going there this summer, August to be exact! I am very excited, I love Colorado, it is soooo beautiful! He lives about 10 miles from Mesa Verde National Park, and so far it has not been shut down due to the fires, so I am keeping my fingers crossed! LOL Terri, how close are you to the Cortez/Dolores area? ANYWAYS, I just has to share my good news! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

lpara- what I had not too long ago was a cold just like this one. Actually, it's been a few months since I had it. But, I'll take 4 of these per year over the one horrendous flu I used to get (which knocked me out for about 2 weeks).

I'm downing every liquid in sight (non-alcoholic). I've got plenty of vitamins. And now I'm going to lay down again. I finished movement 3 of my song, and I'll post it on Laura's Midi Heaven either tomorrow or the next day (just to make sure I really am done and don't want to add or delete anything between now and then). I hate the fact that a midi player cannot play emotion. The anger doesn't come through at all. Oh well, it's a rough blueprint.

Floridaguy, buffalo doesn't taste like chicken but it does taste very good. It's very lean. I tend to like it in burgers or barbeque better than a buffalo steak.

Greetings from Orange County in Southern California! I'm new here.

I'm a 33 year old computer geek who has recently realized I'll never have the American dream as long as I have to give over half my income to state, am discriminated against because of my race (I'm white), and have what freedoms are left slowly morphed into Socialism in the name of diversity.

This pisses me off a whole bunch! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif

I feel like my generation has completely been sold out.

I want to take the gloves off and get nasty with these idiots whore are destroying this country from the inside. I am all for fighting fire with fire. It's time to use some of the left's tactics against them. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/teeth2.gif

For example, how about a billboard with a picture of Tom Daschle on the left and Stalin on the right. The caption on top reads "What's the difference between these two men?" The caption on the bottom reads "Nothing, other than one is dead."

Yea, it's mean, it's nasty, but hey, it's the truth. Daschle is at BEST a socialist, at worst a totalitarian.

Anyhow, if I can help in some way to stop the madness, please contact me.

Thanks for the welcome! Orange County is a conservative area, sadly the rest of the state isn't. Unfortunately, it costs a bundle to live here in OC. My little 700sq foot 1 bedroom apartment sets me back &#361,035 a month. Then tack on water, sewage, and trash. By the time I got to this point in my life, I thought for sure I'd be living in my own home. It's just not going to happen and it pisses me off. I feel even worse for my younger friends. There is going to be even less of a future for them when they finish school. All that effort to educate yourself to wind up just scraping by.

HEY Gogman...I like your posts! *I'll give you a HUGE AMEN and DITTOS!!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/28.gif *What kind of "computer geek" are you? *I've got a son in Computer Science at Purdue and he's got some "lofty" goals. *Good thing he's extremely self-motivated!
Greetings and mega-dittos Saber!

I am the worst kind of geek: The kind who loves it with every cell in his being! I breathe, eat, sleep, and dream about networks and machines. I got my first kit computer back in 1978 (I was just a wee lad) and have been loving it ever since I went to college for a bit, but I dropped out.

I pretty much floundered around until in my early 20's I decided I wanted to be a Rock Star. So I packed up and moved from Central California to Southern California. Got down here, made a living doing shows, even got offered a couple of (really bad) record deals. The band broke up, so it was either move home with mom, or find a job that paid a decent wage and live down here. The thought of being 26 and living at home with mom was only slightly less repellent than the thought of french kissing Monica Lewinsky...

So...

I had only worked professionally (mainly grunt work) in computers a few times, so I figured what the hell, I'd give it a shot. I was hoping to get a job that paid &#3610-15 an hour. Well, turns out that I had the skills and experience gleaned from years of being an anti-social freak who stayed up all night geeking out that people wanted. A couple of companies got into a bidding war over me. It was strange! So the freak and wannabe rock star who just wanted to make &#3610-15 an hour wound up getting a job paying &#3665k a year salary plus bonuses.

Needles to say, this is what I have been doing professionally for the last 7 years. My current job is being the IT Director for a manufacturing consulting firm.

I am still amazed people pay me to do what I consider a hobby. If a freak like myself can make it to this level, then anyone can.. This is one of the reasons I seriously love this country!

Welcome Gogman. You could always move to NC and you could get the same place for 2-3 hundred a month. The problem is you would have to settle for that original &#3610-15 hour. I was about to give up on the Left Coast until you came along. You don't have much to worry about, that area is destined to become part of Mexico, see the Immigration Forum.

gogman, thank you for explaining. I did wonder if it was a biblical reference.

Saber, I think RIM must have retreated to http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/peepwallA.gif for the night! :o *

About the fires. It is burning back on itself from the north. The south line is still in great danger. They think they may have 5% containment and there is some other good news. Many more firefighters are on the way and the weather is cooler today with a bit higher humidity. Hi Everyone...

Wow! This has been a busy day for me. Running hither and yon!

I've enjoyed reading all of your messages and sorry that you lost a big post, RIM. That's happened to me too.

I was in another city today at Home Depot and a friend and I bought all the plywood and shingles to put a new "shell" on the outside of my garden shed and we're going to do that on Saturday. So, lots of work ahead of me for the weekend.

I see that the little missing girl in Salt Lake City is still missing and now her family are all being investigated.

Good Evening All. Wow, lpara is right, you leave for a few hours, and bam! Tons of posts and people joining. gogman, it is always good to have another computer geek aboard, and I have enjoyed your first few posts. Keep up the good work, and you can become a regular in here!

Terri, I was joking about the taste like chicken thing. I have had buffalo lots of times, and like it a lot. It tastes like beef, but leaner and sweeter, and is much healthier, too. Prediction? Based on how easy they are to raise (they have some buffalo ranches even in Florida) I am betting they become a more popular meat choice in the future, becoming more widely available. Now, about my new coffeepot not cup! Yes, it has a built in water filter. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Aberfoyle, so did you wind up hither or yon, or somewhere between the two? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I have not had the experience of hitting the reset button on here, but almost pulled CG's hair because her site claimed that you could hit the back button to fix typos, and WHAM! Say goodbye to your long, 15-minutes-of-typing, post. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

RIM, um, get some rest, take a drink, breathe deeply, it will get better, I promise! For you http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif, just relax!

Dan Ledbetter, do you have any kinfolk in Florida? I know some Ledbetters in Charlotte County, FL, by way of deep south Georgia. Any relation?

We got nice rain today again in Arcadia, but not Sarasota. They are doing ecological burning in Florida every day now; guess they figured they better after Colorado. I hate to see anything burning, but know it will avoid the situation out West in the long run.

Well, gotta catch up on the other threads before I go http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif We are almost at that 200 number now! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Nah, I don't play anymore. I got rid of most of my studio. On my free time I tend to do a lot of reading, crawling around government websites (bless the Freedom of Information Act!), and of course, working on my website. I have a fat internet connection at home and am basicly my own ISP. When I am in the mood for music, I'll DJ live for my friends.

Immigration... Well, that's one of those topics that I am split on. I am fully in support of legal immigration. Immigrants have been a good thing for this country. However, it SERIOUSLY pisses me off that we have people making BONE HEADED proposals to give illegal immigrants drivers license, medical benefits, and such. THESE PEOPLE BROKE THE LAW! Deport them! Was our Republic not founded on a set of laws?

The other thing I have an issue about immigration with is everything being in English and Spanish. English is the language of this society, so learn it!

One of my dreams has been to go live in Japan for awhile (I really love fresh sushi http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ). A friend of mine recently moved to Japan. He's a fellow geek. Guess what he did? He spent almost 4 years learning basic Japanese. Then what did he do? He emigrated LEGALLY. If I were to ever move to another country, you can bet I'd learn the language as well as the culture. Then I'd enter it legally, not sneaking in the dead of night across the border.

I think it's only fair to ask the same of people coming here.

06-13-2002, 10:59 PM
gogman, I agree about sushi. Good sushi is the best food on the planet, IMO. However, having eaten a fair amount of it in Japan about 8 years ago (was there for a week), I believe that sushi is much better here. I found the Japanese, at least then, to be very stuck-up to Americans, barely acknowledging our presence there. At the time they were so vastly economically superior, and everything in Japan was so outrageously expensive, that having also traveled in the same trip to Thailand, and Indonesia, I told people that if they never went to Japan, they weren't missing much...

Nah, Floridaguy! It tastes just like chicken. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

gogman, you sound just about like the rest of here on the subject of immigration. We believe in it, after all that's how everyone of us got here, but we know our country can't continue to support all the illegals. We have no problem with the people but we want all people who come here to do so legally and to take on the reponsibilities of citizenship.

Sushi! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/dead.gif *Please pass the buffalo! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/28.gif

Hey Floridaguy,

It think it's changed. I also think it matters on who you know there and are with. I was blown away when my friend moved there. I am a normal looking guy, however, my friend has aqua hair and about 90 rings in his face. heheheheh I'd say just based on him moving and getting a job, things have changed.

If you are ever in OC, my fave sushi place is in Costa Mesa. Sushi Wave. They have everything there from newbie sushi to the bizzare stuff we closet Japanese like. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Here's the visualization of the billboard idea. It's a quick job so it's not perfect. http://gogman.net/misc_docs/Tom_Stalin.jpg I'd love to see these spring up around the country! Since it's political speech, slander laws do not apply. It's worked for the libs.... Turn about is fair play, I say!

gogman, I thought the sushi in California was some of the best I have tasted in the country. Florida has nothing to compare to it. Maybe we will have to start a sushi thread, but mainly I think we need to get Terri to try it. I forgot to mention to her that I like my buffalo anywhere from rare, to raw (ala carpaccio, or steak tartare). Ah, fine food is lost on the uninitiated...:mdr11 :

Hi, All! *It's hot as you know where down here in Central Texas! It hit 100 degrees today out here in the edge of the Hill Country. We're praying for rain. (well, I was going to place a smilie rolling its eyes heavenward but my computer won't co-operate!) http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif
Did any of you see the article by Rush Limbaugh about "What is a Military Family Worth?" *Sorry, I don't know what newspaper it appeared in and don't have a link as it was forwarded to me without pertinent info. *It is a very thought-provoking article comparing what is being demanded by some of the 9-11 victims' families to the amounts of compensation received by families of our military who are killed.
Talk about allergies -- you guys should live in the midst of these #%@# cedar trees. I eat Benadryl during Cedar Fever season!!
Gotta' run... *Goodnight!

Yea, we are lucky here. We do have some good fish. See's there's one good thing about immigration. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif A sushi thread would be good. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Sushi is like Jello to me, there's always room for more!

I have never had buffalo... I've wanted to try it. I heard it's got a slight hint of venison flavor. Tell Terri not to be a chicken and live a little! There's a whole world of good eats out there!

All this talk of meat... Gonna have to get a burger on the way home from work!

Hi Kathy! We drove through the edge of the Texas hill country earlier this year. We were going from Amarillo to San Antonio so I think we were on the edge of it. We spent about 3 weeks total in Texas and thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't think I'd want to be down there in the heat right now though.

I am going to look for the Limbaugh articles. It sounds like something we would enjoy here. Thanks! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif
