What a week of news this was! All the hullaballoo that the Democrats caused by accusing the President of foreknowledge of 9/11 seems to be dying down just a bit. The tide turned yesterday and will hopefully swamp those who made these disgusting accusations. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

The anti illegal alien movement among conservatives is growing daily. Although we love our President many are not comfortable with amnesty for illegals or open borders.

LP ~ have a wonderful camping trip. *I haven't been camping in years ~ the last time was when we went to Colorado back in the 70's. *It was a great trip and we saw some really beautiful scenery.

Terri ~ I agree ~ I hope this deplorable partisanship on the part of the dems jumps up and bites 'em good. *I watched Sean Hannity work Charlie Rangle over last night. *Charlie took it pretty well ~ I think even he sees *this whole thing for what it really is. *Mud slinging at its lowest. :turquoiserolleyes:</span>

Just what IS it about these demoncrats that make them want to keep sticking their feet in the mouths! Do they really not think that we are all going to find out how hypocritical they are by saying &quot;Bush Knew&quot;....when THEY ALL KNEW everything that Bush knew! It was the same thing with the &quot;shadow government&quot; that they were all spewing about......until they &quot;got caught&quot;.

RIM, you are such a sweet, good-hearted person to offer to fill in for the new father! But then, we all knew that didn't we!! As for the &quot;boss&quot;, I find that deplorable that she would take a job for...what....3 weeks..and then just up and decide to start her own business!

Today is going to be really FULL for me. I need to go to work, I need to do some planting, I need to help put up a large birdfeeder (in concrete), I need to lay PVC piping under the gravel of the nonexistent driveway for electrical connections......and I NEED to watch the Av's game! Wonder which things aren't going to get done! LOL

MAKE IT A GREAT DAY. I'll check back in later! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sunflower.gif

Lady Parrish, what kind of camping do you do? We've done a lot of it here going from a tent in the early days to an RV now. It's sure nice to get out away from the city for a bit.

RIM, Hannity was in fine form last night. He really went off on a professor that was playing dumb on his show too. Or maybe he wasn't playing cause he was as far left as you can get and refused to accept conservatives in his classes. Guess he was afraid they'd make him look bad. :turquoiserolleyes:
Sorry you have to work on Saturday but it will be a star in your crown. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/star2.gif

Saber, don't work too hard and whatever you do don't miss the game! This will be another very tough series and the Avs don't have home ice advantage this time. Not that it seems to matter to them anyway. They win away and lose at home with complete equality. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Morning GOPers! It's been a busy week, but now I can relax again. I was a judge for a middle school forensics competition the other day - my first time. It was pretty cool. Some of them were very good for the age.

One spoke about stopping the use of land mines as a military weapon - my question is, does the U.S. still use them?

I think this big stink the Dems are spewing to gain approval via the media is going to turn around and bite them in the you-know-what - the reason the defense agencies weren't able to coordinate with this information is because the Clinton administration and the liberal democratic government decimated defense and intelligence budgets for a long time!

angelus
05-18-2002, 10:17 AM
Sue - As for the land mines, I'm not sure if we use any new ones, but I have heard that in some places where we used to be involved in conflicts but are no longer involved, land mines were never disarmed or dug up, and people are stepping on them and getting blown up, many of these people in no way involved with military. I'm not sure how many people have been blown up, and I'm not sure how many land mines are still down. But I do know that some have written letters to their representatives, urging them to put pressure on to get the land mines taken out of these areas.
But then again, I'm not sure how true any of this is. If anyone knows more, let me know.

I got a hair cut today, I look like a human again! Yay! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Well, I gotta go now. Bye!

Hi Sue Elise! It sounds like you had a fun time being a judge for the kids. I've attended a few of those competitions and been really impressed by the skills of some of the kids. I'm pretty sure we did use landmines in Bosnia.

Angelus, too bad we don't have a before and after picture. We're all experts on haircuts for young men here. Just ask my son. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *I remember at one time there was talk about developing landmines that could be automatically deactivated later. I also remember that we were catching heat at one point because we wouldn't agree not to use them. I need to get up to date on this subject.

lpara! What a beautiful patriotic post. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif We have an airshow here today. I went to it last year but I think this year we will just watch from the yard. We aren't too far from the airport so sometimes we see a lot of the planes.

I love the Blue Angels. They are usually here every year for the Air Force Academy graduation. We used to go to graduation when my husband worked there. Now we just watch them practice. They are visible from the whole area flying against the backdrop of the front range of the mountains. It's gorgeous.

Sue E ~ There is quite a bit of information on the net regarding land mines and organizations trying to ban them. *I haven't found anything about whether we are still using them. *However, I did find a site Physicians for Human Rights (http://www.phrusa.org/campaigns/landmines/land_harkinst.html) with a letter from Tom Harkins (D-IA) saying that the US should join the other 130 nations that have already committed to signing and ratifying The Mine Ban Treaty. *It was written in January of 2000, so I assume at that time we had not as yet made a commitment. *Perhaps, since then, we have done so ~ I haven't found anything yet.

Well, my hair was long before, for my standards. *I could pull the front down and touch my eye, so I decided it was time to get it cut. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif
Anyway, the last picture I had taken of myself was last summer, before I changed the style of my hair. *Now I just comb it straight back (instead of parting it and combing to the sides, with the left side being smaller).
But, my mom just told me that we're about to get a digital camera. *She says she has ordered one, so it should be here within a few weeks. *Then maybe I can take a more recent picture of myself, wearing my &quot;I Like Bush&quot; T-shirt I got from NewsMax.com. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I think the rhetoric from Democrats about Bush is slowing down a bit after Fox blew the lid off their boy Bill yesterday. *But it's still there. *Oh well, can't expect them to stop, but slowing down is more than I had hoped for too, so http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif to Fox News!

Angelus, digital cameras are great. I love mine. I'm not sure if the rhetoric is slowing down or not. I heard one of their windbags this morning say that the most experience President Bush had with foreign policy was ordering Chinese food. That is such a childish and ridiculous thing to say. :turquoiserolleyes: He was inexperienced. We all knew that but that is why we have Cheney, Rice, Powell and more. Hello to everyone. Welcome to all of the new people. It is so nice to have you here http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wavey.gif.

Tuesday is Primary Election Day http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif here and I will be working at the polls. Not too much going on so expect a small turnout.

Our little town goes out in a big way for Memorial Day:flag17: We have a parade and remember our veterans with speaches at the memorial and then the cemetery.

Lets hope the sun http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sun1.gif comes out this week since it is also a week that we remember our Coal Miners. We have a &quot;Coal Festival&quot; going on from Thursday through Sunday. There are rides for the children http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/yelclap.gif, lots of food and entertainment plus a &quot;Coal Museum&quot;. We all hope it warms up so we can be out in our park enjoying the activities. There will be singing and dancing and just all sorts of things going on. It snowed here this morning and I sure hope it warms up just a little.

Saturday I am going to my Alumni Banquet from high school. It has been many moons since I have seen these people and hope someone recognizes me
:turquoiserolleyes:

Lots of lovely decorations here today and I hope the emotions work for me.

Have a great Sunday.
