Euro-crats Stick it to Microsoft

Much like Wal-Mart and Mickey D's, everybody hates Microsoft...except, of course, the millions and millions of people who use and buy their products day after day after day.

The European Union - home of the world-famous cheese-eating surrender monkeys - has joined the I-Hate-Microsoft crowd. The EU's Mario Monti has decided to stick it royally to Microsoft, fining the cheeky American company $612 million for having the audacity to actually sell a product that European consumers want, can afford and which actually works.

I have to admit that as a proud card-carrying techno-troglodyte, I didn't understand what the all this fuss was about. So I asked Fred Smith of the Competitive Enterprise Institute to 'splain it to me in layman's terms in an interview last week. Maybe his analogy will help you, as well...

Ya know? Can I just say that I am smarter than the average bear when it comes to computers and it's bells and whistles. Therefore I feel I am somewhat qualified to say this about Media Player: "It Sucks." It's clunky and seems like it was designed by Congress. I use WinAmp. It's light, easy to use, does what I want without needing a manual the thickness of War and Peace, and it's free. But this isn't the real point.

All software is time sensitive. Microsoft is already migrating to a hybrid of Windows XP called Windows XP Media Center. "Media player" is in there somewhere, but the one your computer probably has right now, the one the Euroweenies object to, is already obsolete. In essence, you can't sue Microsoft fast enough to beat them evolving out of whatever it is you are objecting to.

Janet "The Clusterfork" Reno "WON" against Microsoft and Windows 98, just before Microsoft released Windows XP and could not care LESS about Windows 98!

The Euroweenies are doing the same thing.

And what can the Eurorats do to Bill Gates? Keep Microsoft out of Europe? Let them and watch them sink even further into decay while the rest of the world moves ahead.

This just proves that Socialists run Europe and hate anyone who succeeds.

How about Microsoft just pulls out of Europe completely and stop licensing its products there. Then while the appeal is being played out they slap the EU with a massive copyright infringement lawsuit. Do you really think the EU will stop buying computers without Windows?
