Good morning everyone! Things sure were busy around here yesterday!

Rim - hope things go well with the new boss.

Terri - I don't have this new job yet - they're still negotiating with the temp co. I told the temp co. I wouldn't do it for secretarial pay (I'll do secretarial work for s pay, but not write curriculum), so we'll see what comes of it. Otherwise, I'm going to take on short term assignments so I can have time off here and there. I think I'm only going to work long enough to make the money to get my crown - dental work is way too expensive!

Actually, I am thinking about running agnist her in 2008 since I don't think I have a chance of beating GWB in 2004 cause I didn't beat him in 2000 when I did run for President.

I didn't do very well in the exit polls as most people responded to the question with "Janice WHO???" http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/ne_nau.gif but I did manage to pull in 28 votes, mostly write ins, from good friends and a few people who supported my endorsment under the Wild Party.

To tell you the truth, I got more than 28 votes, mostly from Idaho, which, I had demanded a recount but I couldn't get any support for it because of some argument that was going on in the Supreme Court at the time. I forget what it was about but I think it had something to do with butterflys. *

Oh well, if I ever expect to become President I guess I had better pay more attention to stupid arguments over meaningless insects, especially the ones that eat potatoes, if I want Idaho.

I figure this is as good as a place as any to get started with my reading so onward I go.

Good Morning All: Seems like a more friendly forum this morning - of course no one has made any outlandish remarks about Israel, yet. I was really hoping to hear the Tancredo news conference yesterday but I guess no network covered it. Since most of the media is liberal I can understand why they wouldn't carry it, but I thought for sure that Fox would have covered it. I'll just have to go to the Immigration Forum and see whats been posted.

Got to love the news story about the Evil Doers in ships in LA. I hope the office of homeland security is checking every costal beach not just the ports. Since I was born and raised on the coast, there are beaches they guys and girls go to for privacy. I hope the evil doers dont know of these beaches.

The reading today is from Luke 4:1-13.

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. *He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread."
Jesus answered him, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.'"
The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. *And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. *So if you worship me, it will all be yours."
Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'"
The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stan on the highest point of the temple. *"If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down from here. *For it is written:
'He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.'"
Jesus answered, "It says, 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.'"
When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

The Gospel of the Lord. *Amen.

OK, so what does this tell us? *Basically, it is saying that not even Jesus, the Son of God, was immune to temptation. *But he did rebuke all temptation that was put upon him, for he knew the Word of God and obeyed it.
The last temptation is what I want to focus on. *Even the devil knew toe Word, and he used it as a temptation, by quoting the Word, leaving out one little detail (do not test the Lord).
Much in the same way, many Atheists know the Word of God. *They do not believe it, obviously, but they know it intellectually. *And they often will do what the devil does here. *They'll quote something but leave out one little aspect in an effort to prove there is no God.
An example here involves the Ten Commandments. *An atheist will say that, if we are so Godly, why do we make any paintings or songs or anything artistic? *After all, commandment 2 says "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or the earth beneath or the waters below." *Well, yes, it does. *But, an atheist will tell us that it means we will not make any images whatsoever. *Not true. *An idol is something you make with the intent and purpose of worshipping. *This commandment says will will not worship any idol. *It does not say we are to make no art at all. *Just not an idol to worship.

When someone is trying to tempt you into doing something, remember Jesus's example. *Remember the Word of God, which is the eternal truth. *When someone quotes part of the Bible in an attempt to get you to do something you know is wrong, rebuke them with the Word, the FULL Word. *

May the Lord shine upon you and keep you in grace now and always. *Amen.

Aberfoyle, I don't know what to think about the "flame". Some of her neighbors don't believe she did it on purpose but the Feds do. Whichever, we are now at 121,000 acres and moving backward on the containment percentage. 7,500 people are currently out of their homes. It's moving east and into my county. Tomorrow may be a little better if they can get past the winds that come with a cool front.

In addition the President has declared Colorado a federal disaster area. This will be helpful to some of the affected people and businesses I hope. It will be my opportunity to learn more about what happens in such a designation.

Der Alte, I missed the news conference yesterday too. It's too bad that it had to fall on a high news day. I'll see if I can find more about it later.

Terri, the fire is still growing. I heard today, late this afternoon that they do not think she started the fire by accident because of burning the letter, that she set it on purpose! They found underbrush and shrubbery (is that redundant?) near the source of the fire, and said that when she claimed to smell the smoke and went over to the fire, they tracked down the wind direction, which would have blown the smoke/smell in the totally opposite direction from her, from the fire. This is going to be an intentional arson conviction before it is over, trust me.

BTW, I think the Flordia joke is over, isn't it? :turquoiserolleyes:

Regarding Arafat and Israel, it just keeps getting worse and worse. I truly believe that Arafat will be assasinated within a week or two. No one here is going to shed a tear.

Mark, thank you for sending us rain. We might actually get a little bit tomorrow but over the fires it will just be steam before it even gets close to the ground. We would have to have a flood to help now.

We now have towns north of Colorado Springs on evacuation standby. The fire is 7 miles west of them. I hope that the cooler weather and higher humidity will hold it off. Remember the town I told you all about the other day? Regarding the depcon 1 crisis in the Middle East. Why I believe that Arafat needs to go I think taking him out is the wrong way. I believe if this were to happen Sharon and the innocent people of Israel would suffer far worse attacks from the Arab countries that hate Israel. The Western world would have to let Israel take the beating since the AXIS of Evil would be part of the attack on Israel. The Arab countries that appear to be fighting the war on terror with us would leave and work to take revenge for Arafat.

(Note this part is all about humor)
Therefore maybe if Arafat would leave and move to Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim it would be a better solution. For those of you that don’t know the park located next to Disneyland that opened last year really sucks and the Disney Company have been looking for something to draw in the money. Maybe meet and great Arafat and get you picture with Arafat would do the trick. Kind of like Pictures with Mickey and Friends this would be Pictures with an evildoer.

Or wait a better solution put him in Disneyland and let people hit him with a Sore Weinerman Yard sign lol

lpara, thank you so much. The people here really need prayer. I believe it is the only thing that is going to help. We have so many good people here trying to help. There are soldiers from Ft. Carson in Woodland Park ready to help defend the town or help evacuate it, whichever.
And there are military units from other states flying slurry drops. Then there are all the firefighting crews from all over the country. An interesting fact is that at least one of the crews is made up of legal aliens who are here to work in other jobs but offered to be trained for firefighting.

Rad, I'm sorry. I heard that earlier but wasn't sure where he was from. We lost the Voice of the Broncos a few years ago. You get so used to them that it feels like losing a friend.
