We invite all our guests to register and join in our discussions. We want to hear what's important to you today!

There is some odd media news or at least it seems odd to me. *
Dan Rather has been signed to four more years. :o

Chris Matthews is going to ABC, according to Drudge.

Less odd, in fact it should be downright entertaining,
I think Ari Fleischer is going to be on Leno tonight.
Love that man! :1luvu: *

Being Monday we have a brand new poll on the front page. The question this week is What do you think will be the defining issue of the 2002 mid-term elections in November?
The poll is here! (http://www.gopusa.com)

The results of last weeks poll are in today's edition of The Eagle! You all do get The Eagle. (http://gopusa.com/eagle/subscribe.shtml) Right? Thanks to Bobby, it's the best conservative newsletter on the internet! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

There are some excellent new Opinion pieces on the front page today too. I've posted threads in *the GOPUSA Website and Eagle Forum to discuss a couple of them.

EEEEEEEKKKKKK! Am I on the missing persons list? LOL

I only had short snippets of time yesterday..just long enough to jump in here to read The Precinct, but no time to compose and post....sorry!

These last four days or so have been a nightmare! Remember the plumber I had coming to put in a new kitchen faucet, etc? Welllllllll.....it turned into THREE DAYS OF HELL! The first plumber was here for SIX hours on Thursday and didn't get the faucet working..then another plumber on Friday...not working.....then SATURDAY...FINALLY! Seems I got one of the "1 in 1,000" defective faucets (oh, only me!). Anyway, I'm now out &#36600+ on plumbing bills and I'm about ready to SCREAM! I'm in "negotiations" with one of the plumbers about HIS &#36400 bill. He's threatening to sue me if I don't pay and I've told him he's about to be reported to the powers that be for his OUTRAGEOUS charges. Could get interesting!!

It was literally winter weather here all weekend so maybe it was a good thing I had to stay in the house and reclaim my kitchen. The counters were covered with dirty dishes, glasses, etc., not to mention all the cleaning chemicals that were ALL over the floor which are usually housed under the kitchen sink! SO....it's all over now..FINALLY...excep t the shouting and the fighting! LOL

RIM...how are you feeling now after that fall? Oh geez, that must have been horrible! I hope all the aches and pains are easing up for you now.

Here's hoping for some spring weather around here today 'cuz these grey, grey, grey skies are getting depressing. MAKE IT A GREAT DAY YA'LL!

OK... It's Monday, and I think I'm awake. Our youngest (5 months) was up at 2am and 4am, so I'm a zombie right now.

However, it's going to be a great day in the GOPUSA. Please take some time to vote in our latest survey, and let your opinions be known on the Forum.

I need to grab another Diet Coke. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Good Morning Everyone from chilly Ontario!

Saber, that's horrible! I can't imagine having your plumbing problem! Keep us posted.

Yes, RIM, how are you after that fall?

Bobby, your saga of last night with the baby keeping you awake reminds me of when I worked night shift baking the muffins at our local Donut shop (Tim Horton's). Many night, at the drive through window, we'd have this young man asking for a coffee and he'd come up to the window and continually move the car back and forth while waiting for his coffee! Then we saw the baby! When the car stopped moving, the baby screamed! This father was letting his wife have some sleep time by driving this collicky baby around town in the night! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif

By the way, Bobby, there's something wrong with the GOP counting machine! Theres a total of 544 posts on this board now but adding up my posts and the others and Terri's and yours, it comes to much, much more than 544! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

I gotta watch Leno tonight! Ari is a nice guy in my books! :1luvu:

That's a great story!

Yesterday, after our family went out to lunch, my wife needed to run into the grocery store to get something. Our daughter (5 yrs) was napping in her car seat. Our son, however, has a motion detection system that would rival most security alarms. So, rather than parking, I had to circle the parking lot until my wife came out! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif I stop, he cries... I go, he sleeps.

Oh well... our daughter was the same way, except I described hers as "altitude sensitivity": standup with her in your arms, and she went to sleep... sit down to rest for a split second, and she wakes up and cries. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

OK. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/teeth2.gif *Dubya is at it again. *I was just reading this on http://www.boortz.com/nealznuz.htm :

"Dubya will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico today to introduce his plan for the mandatory inclusion of mental disorders in health care coverage. *This is a long-time goal of the Democratic Party. *Democrats know that mandatory mental health coverage will cause insurance premiums to skyrocket. *As insurance becomes more expensive more and more employers will drop coverage --- ditto for individuals. * With more individuals going without health insurance the demand for government intervention will increase … just what the Democrats want --- another excuse to push socialized medicine."

This is NOT the man that I voted for!!!!!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsdown.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif *I am hyper-league infuriated with some the crapola he has been passing off as "compassionate". *The question is....what am I going to do about it? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

Maybe he ought to be spending some of this time CLOSING THE BORDERS until we get this little "terrorist thingy" under control instead of worrying right now about "mental health coverage!!! OH MY! NOT COMPASSIONATE!

Hi Everyone!

Saber! I would be so upset with that plumber. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mr_yuk.gif *How could he possibly charge you that much when he didn't even complete the job?? *Don't forget to call the Better Business Bureau for him.

Bobby, I'm laughing but I do remember how it felt to never get quite enough sleep. Usually it passes pretty soon but our second daughter woke up several times a night till she was 2 years old. I trust that will not be the case with your son. Just keep moving till he goes to sleep and then slip out of the room. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sulkoff.gif

Aberfoyle, you stop that counting! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

This is RIM's first day with the new boss! We're pulling for you RIM! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_rose.gif *Actually, I know it's going to be fine unless this woman is a complete dope. You don't find people like RIM everyday and she'd better appreciate her.

Saber, I hear you. I guess it's all part of the Republican plan to take away the Democrat's issues. The problem is that we end up with the same result or close to it. I think I am a compassionate person but there is no way we can pay for a Socialist health care system.

President Bush is as conservative as we are likely to get in our lifetimes and as conservative a candidate as this country will be willing to elect, I'm afraid. *

He's a good man. I like him so much as a person but like you, I wish he were stronger on conservative issues.

Good morning, everyone.

Today is MY day!! No work, no driving anyone 100 or so miles. I'm going to work on my house; get some things in place; shop, etc.

Saber and Terri;

I don't believe the government at ANY level should dictate to private insurance companies what conditions they MUST cover. This should be decided by the market.

Having said that, as far as mental disorders go, some are actually biochemical disorders of the brain; ie, organic, therefore, medical.

If every neurosis or "my family was dysfunctional so I'm a basket case" kind of thing is covered, we're in for it .... BIG TIME!!

Once we have socialized medicine, we have the government dictating our behavior to us at EVERY level. Yes, that's EXACTLY what the Dems, er, Socialists, want.

Please read Gregg Bish's piece in today's EAGLE; it fits right in with this discussion.

Hi Donna! I'm glad you have a day off to just do what you need and want to do. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thanks for recommending the Bish article. I've just read it and it certainly does apply. We seem to be afraid to lead. I think we could help ourselves immensely as a party if we replaced our congressional leadership. I'll start a thread for this article and I hope everyone will comment. We can also discuss it here.

The Democrats are actually trying to make private insurance so financially unfeasible that companies will drop coverage and open the door to their government program.

Good Day all! Sorry it's been since last week that I chatted. By the way, the forum on the American-Palestinian v. American Jewish community viewpoint on the Middle East situation was quite interesting Thursday night. Everyone was quite civil, but the 2 Palestinian representatives were a bit vocal, not really giving equal time to the Rabbi we had there. What basically came out of the discussion, not too surprisingly, is that everyone agrees that some land should be given back to the Palestinians to create a state from territory that Israel got in 1967. However, the major differences are that Arafat and others want full reparations from Britain, Israel, and other parties to the decision to create the State of Israel (in 1948), dislocating some Palestinians. The Palestinians also want to be able to "bring back" some 3.4 million "Palestinians" living in other countries, such as Jordan and Lebanon (i.e., a full right of return), however, there never were anywhere near that number of Palestinians, ever, and how does one prove they were or used to be in Israel prior to 1948 or 1967? This is supposedly why Arafat wouldn't accept the return of all lands seized in the 1967 war when it was offered to him (as opposed to the fact that he repeatedly in the 1960s and 1970s swore that he would not stop until there was NO Israel, or the Israelis were pushed into the sea). They also said it would be impossible to negotiate anything without Arafat being involved (claiming it would be like someone trying to negotiatie an agreement with the U.S. without our president being involved). The point I raised was that even if mainstream Israelis and Palestinians agreed to some peace settlement, there are still fanatical fringes (in Israel, it would be the orthodox Jews who assasinated their own leader for suggesting giving back land, and among the Palestinians, it is suicide bombers, Hammas, Al Akhsa, etc.) on both sides. I do not feel as if there can be a lasting peace settlement as long as the fringe groups on both sides are not controlled by thier own respective leaders.

* *On another note, the FFYR election I mentioned last week is coming up this Saturday! Thank you to all last Wednesday who gave me wishes of luck and confidence. I feel as if I have the votes to win, but it will be close. I will let you all know next week how it went. I was glad to hear from RIM that I work about 20 minutes away from her and her hubby. We'll have to get together some time. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Hi Floridaguy,

Good luck on that election.

As to the reparations the Palestinians want, I wonder how the surrounding countries feel about Jewish reparations? The Arabs and the Persians collectively kicked out over 600,000 Jews from THEIR lands and businesses over the past 50 years. This can go both ways.

Hi Floridaguy!! Good to see you here. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I'm not at all surprised that the Palestinians were so vocal. I've yet to see any Palestinian spokesperson with manners. Arafat missed his best chance because he doesn't want a solution. He wants the death of Israel and nothing less. It sounds as though it was an interesting meeting and I'm sure I would have gotten into lots of trouble had I been present.

Good luck with your election this weekend. We will want a full report and hope to see you here again before that too. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

What fun if you and RIM can meet. I hope that works out.

Off to have a bath! *TTY all tomorrow!

In reading the "baby" posts--I thought about how much we forget as our children become older--I don't want to go back to those days cuz I love my kids as they are now--but I wouldn't mind having another little one to fill up our hearts with more precious memories--they all become precious--eventually. *You even forget how tired you were when you had to get up with them and just remember rocking them and how sweet that was.
About GW's mental health thing--if there is an organic disorder in the brain--that definitely will show up in blood tests or something won't it and there aren't too many of those are there? *In this day of "I'm a victim" we are in for an unbelievable onslaught of "mental" reparations! *
Well, my husband and I are going to my in-laws til Wed. p.m. We're both going to study w/out any phones, etc. *Hopefully, it will be fruitful. *It's time for all good people to say GOOD NIGHT!--GOOD NIGHT * *
