Bush Touts Strategy to Lower Health Care Costs
By Jeff Gannon

WASHINGTON (Talon News) -- President Bush took on an issue at the very center of his opponent's campaign to oust him from the White House -- health care. In a speech at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, the president told small business owners about his proposals that would enable them to have access to affordable health plans for their employees.
Bush began his remarks with a familiar recitation of how terrorist attacks and corporate scandals exacerbated an inherited recession. He reiterated that the economic recovery was due to the "robust tax relief" he convinced the Congress to pass.
He particularly mentioned the phasing out of the death tax, a matter of profound significance to small business owners and family farmers. But he didn't miss the opportunity to mention the childcare tax credit and the reduction "marriage penalty" either.
