Morning guys! Hope your weather is fine, too. I love early morning on Saturday. Well, last night was fun - there's nothing like young players trying to hook up for a girl's self esteem. Especially when they think I'm as young as they are!

The President is speaking at West Point this morning. Fox has it on right now.

RIM, I don't think you mentioned your SOG side in the foxhole. What is it? :o *It's baseball that puts me to sleep. Hockey is fun. Well, sometimes hockey is fun. Last night couldn't be described that way unless you're a Redwing. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Saber, you aren't going to talk about Roy but what do the headlines say??? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif Well, first there's a really nice photo of Adam Foote hugging him. Headlines: Roy happened? - Detroit Debacle - AVS KO'D - Detroit ends Avs' reign in decisive fashion. *Yep! That about says it. BTW, I went down the driveway in my nightie to get these for you so I expect the proper appreciation. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif Maybe a couple of these would do. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/notworthy.gif *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/notworthy.gif

Is it training camp yet? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif

SueElise, that's ALL you're going to tell us??? *Hmmmpf! Sounds like you had a fun evening. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

It's great fun in here. I really enjoy all of you so much.

I've got a couple of articles that I'm about to post in Immigration that aren't that much fun. Check them out later if you have time.

Oh FloridaGuy - you know you like to hear chick gossip! Y'all are funny - there's not much to tell. I had a great time, my friend and I both got hit on a lot, of course by young navy guys. It was great because they all thought we looked younger than 25! We went to a dance club after the concert, which was great - Eddie From Ohio - if you ever get a chance, they are amazing.

I think I'm just a big baby when I feel that I don't have any control. Like airplanes, balloons, gondolas, etc. It reminds me of the time we took a long weekend and took the train to St. Louis. Of course, we had to go see the Arch. Well, INSIDE that skinny Arch, they have this "thing" that you ride on to the top. My kids were small and we all hopped on this creepy itty bitty "thing". As the doors started to close I totally freaked! I swear...like a panic attack or something! I was clawing at the doors to get them open and ran out of there as fast as I could. I could get shaky just thinking about it again. Thank GOD I got off that thing!......

or the time in my sorority where we went on an "event" at some secluded farm at night. There was a maze built underneath the barn. You had to crawl like a snake on your belly to get through this maze.....IN THE PITCH BLACK. OK...so I'm brave, right? HA! With people ahead of me and behind me, we blindly crawled through this thing. OMG you couldn't even raise your head or anything. In the middle of this thing, the one behind me decides to freak me out even more by telling me there are RATS! Seriously, this was 30+ years ago and I'm sitting here with goosebumps even telling you about it. By the time I finally got out, I was sobbing....and affected for life.

Geez......how'd I get on THIS subject!!!!?????

Good afternoon everyone! I am posting here early compared to the past couple of days, ne? Oh well, somtimes you just gotta say hi to your friends. So, Hi everyone!
Well, now that that is out of the way, I just have to weigh in on this "Sum of All Fears" hoopla that is being touted on the news.

It seems that many people are complaining about Hollywood cashing in on the nuke threat. They say it's exploiting 9-11. Well, I have a different take. I like the fact that this movie is out, and out now. Why? Because I see America getting sleepy. We, as a nation, are becoming more complacent than we need to be. Maybe this will be a "gentle wake-up call" about the threats facing us.

But, this movie does not escape my criticism, either. I've read the book. And Hollywood IS cow-towing to the politically correct (liberally corerct) crowd. In the book, the terrorists are Arabs. They are Muslims bent on destroying American culture. And, I read on NewsMax a while back that the original screenplay, written before 9/11 was true to the book on that aspect. However, they changed it, when people started this "we musn't profile, we musn't blame all Muslims for the actions of a few" crowd.

But, let's face it. It was Muslims (15/19) that killed nearly 3000 American civilians. They ARE the biggest threat facing us at this present time, and we are supposed to think that is not so? The Nazi's (ever portrayed in Hollywood as right-wing white guys, when in realty NAZI means National SOCIALIST) are the only bad guy permissible in Hollywood anymore. Nobody is offended when they are portrayed as evil. Fascists are definitely nowhere near good, but the threat from them is less than from the Arabs who hate us so much. Why in the heck are we turning a blind eye to this fact?

So, in review, the fact that the threat of nuclear war is exposed in the movie at this time is good. The revising of the story to fit the P.C. crowd is not.

And now, I must go. I've got a song to work on.

Floridaguy, you have to come every single day or you might miss something. If you want to talk about Lorrie Dhue or Condi Rice, go right ahead. We've heard it before. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif We can even talk politics if you want. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/doh.gif

Saber, I can't believe that someone would crawl through a maze underneath a barn in the middle of the night! My goodness, girl! Don't you know there were SPIDERS in there???

lpara, I can cry at the drop of a hat. Does that go away? How much longer will it be? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif

Ah! I understand, RIM. SOG! I think I belong to that same group. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

So, Angelus. If the people in the movie are not Muslim, who are they? Did any of them have a goatee? :o You might be right that it will awaken some folks but the hysterical may go over the edge. There is a huge flap in the People's Republic of Boulder because of a B-1 flyover. They were scared!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif :o

I'm just in from attending a funeral for the husband of a friend that I used to work with. It was a very dignified and quiet Christian service. He had served his country in the Army for 5 1/2 years. The reason I'm telling you this is because of the end of the service there was an honor guard who unfolded the flag from his coffin and held it while taps was played. There was total silence until the first notes of taps when you could hear the purse snaps open and the stir as the tissues and hankies come out. I don't think there was a dry eye in that church by the time the flag had been refolded and presented.
It was very moving. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif

In the movie, the bad guys are neo-nazis. I haven't seen it, but the previews let me know that Arabs are not the terrorists. What is wrong with being true to a book written before the Soviet Union collapsed (well, maybe they can change that to present-day Russia, I don't have a problem with that . .)

Terri, I know what you mean about the moving service. It was similar when my grandfather died just over a year ago.

Open letter to ipara, pRIMrose, Terri - et al., Seems from some of the conversation that I have stumbled into a feminine domain, but you don't seem to mind the intrusion. SOG may be used for Silly Old Guy as well but when I was affilated with SOG, it was Special Operations Group during the Vietnam war. You talk of your fears - mine is of heights and I spent years hanging out the door of a helicopter and off the tailgate of a C-130. I have trouble even looking at the TV when someone is walking the ledge of a building. You also talk of emotion - most men don't want to admit that anything bothers them, but I can assure them that if they live as long as I and have had the experiences that I have had, they will have cried. I spent part of my working career as a Federal Agent and all you got to see was the bad side of life and if some of it didn't make you cry, your just not human. I dig chick talk, young, old and everywhere in between. Excuse me for rattling on, but its one of the joys of being old and hopefully amoung friends.

You are definitely among friends here in The Precinct. Everyone is and all newcomers will be too. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

RIM, is the lawn mowed?

Hi Aberfoyle! You've been quiet lately.

I think the liberal left media won't care if the Neo Nazis complain - after all, they're white males mostly and that's the group the llm hates most!

Hi Sue Elise...

Yes, I've been quiet. *Every so often I have a "quiet period" since my husband passed away and the last few days have been the latest one!

But I've just read over the messages for yesterday and today and it looks as if everyone else has been very busy.

Sorry about your hockey loss, Terri. *But don't forget that those fantastic players came mostly from http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag29.gif

I was interested in all the camera talk. *I have a Nikon Coolpix 950 and I've just taken over 6,250 photos with it and nary a complaint. *It doesn't have the megapixels as some of the newer cameras have but my closeups are wonderful (IMHO). *I have a 2X Teleconverter that helps with the zoom but my interest lies in the closeups so I'm happy enough.

I took some photos of a baby robin on May 20th and then my daughter sent me some of hers as well and I've put them together here in a little file so that the grandchildren can click and see it.

Robbie the Robin (http://members.rogers.com/scott4275/robin2.html)

You might all like to see the photos as well.

I have an Epson 750 Stylus Photo printer and I use it all the time for printing out my photos. *No complaints at all.

[color=purple]Dear, dear Aberfoyle. *I'm sorry. *I pray that God's grace will sustain you. *"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee.":1luvu:

DerAlte--we are glad to have another "real" man join us! *Real men do cry. *Did you get any rain today? *We got some--but wish it were still raining--we could really use it! *

Terri, we recently attended a funeral where they played taps and presented the folded flag to a family member also. *It is great to see "patriotism work the crowd" even at hard times in one's life. *

I had a whole page typed and my computer froze--Rats all those great thoughts (:mdr11http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I guess I'll get back to the old grind right after I try to see Aberfoyle's pictures.

SOG--SASSY OMNISCIENT GAL--we could start a new club on that one! *and we can interchange guy for gal whenever we need to!:biggringift:

Thank lpara! Much appreciated and I believe that to be true. I'll get through this. Been there done that.

Now... I hope you enjoyed the pictures of the robin!

Canada's Liberal Gov't is sure in a mess right now. We have the Defense guy fired, now the Minister of Finance is contemplating leaving because he was hoping to run as the next leader but Mr. Chretien has said that anyone who runs should be fired! Well, we'll see what happens in the next few days.

Yes Terri, *I* did manage to get the yard mowed. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *It was hard work but I just kept "cheering" him.....err stearing the thing on. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *
Aberfoyle!I'm so glad you showed up. *I was just about to unleash Rex and send him your way. *He's never been to Canada before. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *BTW ~ the pictures are just precious. *I have raised many baby birds. *Every spring it seems one or two fall from the nest. *I've raised sparrows, wrens, blackbirds and I have three "freeloaders" who live with us. *A parrot, a cockatiel and a dove. *Your camera takes beautiful pictures. *I know what you mean about "quiet time". *We all need it now and then. *I'm glad you are ok and were having such a nice time putting together your pictures. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/grouphug.gif

Now about the foxhole. *I promise I won't use "nukes". *Wouldn't want to damage the furniture and stuff. *But I have a secret weapon that is very useful in evicting interlopers. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smash.gif

lpara ~ doesn't it just leave you limp when you write a nice long post and then all of a sudden it goes "poof"? :o Been there, done that. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Oh, and Terri, I did see that blurb on Fox about the picture of Bush. *I ROTFL ~~ Tommy eat your heart out. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

Well, it's way past my bed time. *Have a lovely evening all ~ see you tomorrow. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/red_eyes.gif

Aberfoyle! I'm glad you are emerging once again. The photos are great and it was your Nikon I was thinking of when I included it in the list. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sue Elise, you are right. White males are never victims according to the political left.

lpara, I've seen the folded flag presented many times but I've never seen it unfolded first, held up for taps, refolded and then presented. I liked that. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/flag17.gif

RIM, I'm glad you got all that work done. Supervising in just incredibly tiring. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Yes, Terri, we've exchanged many photos haven't we since we both got our cameras? I remember you sending me outside to take a photo of apple blossoms so we could both see if the blossoms were sharp and clear! Remember that? And I had just got the camera and didn't know what in the world I was doing but I got a photo! That was two years ago and now 6,250 photos later.... well, it's been so much fun!

Yes Aberfoyle, I do remember that. Maybe soon we can send Saber out to take pictures of her driveway. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
