Aberfoyle ~ I'm so sorry to hear about your neighbor's fire. *And I'm also sorry I dragged you and your shed into a family "crisis". *Looks like things have gotten entirely out of hand. *You can sell the futon and get a better lawnmower. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif *Besides, I like Rex to be with me and if there's fleas :o there's no way I'm letting him crash on the dirt floor. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif

HI all you cool, conservababe and conservadudes! Left myself a note last night at my computer desk so I wouldn't forget to watch Germany v. USA! COOL! Finally get to watch at a realistic hour! TURN IT ON and cheer for the good guys! Brian McBride is the star of the team, apparently, and he is from the HS about 2 miles from here. He is a major cool guy who goes back to his HS frequently. I understand he even buys the soccer team new uniforms every year!
FLg, sounds like you had a fun time last night wielding the gavel. Good thing you didn't invite any dems....you might have had to use the gavel in more ways than one to keep them in line! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Aberfoyle and Terri.....these fires are so widespread and scary. Guess that's one good thing I can say about Illinois. We aren't known to have these horrific fires. We've got other problems, but OH these fires. I really can't imagine the horror and destruction.
RIM! Sounds like a rotten 5:30 call for you, but you're almost there for vaca now! I'm excited for you http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif , but I'm gonna miss you something terrible! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif
Mark....I believe the word is "reciprocity". Can't believe you wouldn't remember that word guy! I've found it's a MOST important concept to attorneys! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/elefant.gif
You guys, you've really got to turn on the game! The US is BIG TIME putting pressure on Germany and Germany is the HEAVY heavy favorite. The US is attacking something fierce! I assume you're watching Aberfoyle! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif
Rim/Ipara.....I'll do my cleaning duties after the game. I've got Orkin coming this p.m. to take care of those fleas. We wouldn't want REX to get infected! LOL

I'm going to get right to the sermon this morning. *Since marriage seems to be a good topic to talk about, the reading today is from Ephesians 5:22-32.
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. *For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church, his body, of which he is the savior. *Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gve himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. *In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. *He who loves his wife loves himself. *After all, no one eber hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church- for we are members of his body. *For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, *and the two will become one flesh. *This is a profound mystery-but I am talking about Christ and the church. *However, each one of you must also love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Here ends the reading.
OK, so what have we learned here today? *Well, let's deal with the wives. *The Bible says wives are to submit to their husbands as they would to Christ. *Obviously, Christ would not have you cause yourself harm, or beat you, or anything like that, or keep you oppressed. *Submitting to oppression is not what the Bible is saying or wanting here.
We all know about "Be ye not unequally yoked." *In other words, Christian marries Christian, or non-Christian marries non-Christian. *But a Christian is not to marry a non-Christian.
And that brings me to my point on husbands. *Husbands are to love their wives, and that doesn't just mean romantically. *They should love wives in a Christian way. *Nobody who is truly Christian, and living Christ-like, will beat their wives, or not allow them their own opinions, etcetera.
Just as we know that Christ will never leave us, so too should husbands never leave their wives. *I'm talking about the 8 hours a day spent putting food on the table (which both are equally capable of doing, not just husbands). *I'm talking about leaving the wife permanently, forsaking her.
Now, calling the husband the head of the household may sound a little old-aged in this new age we live in. *Well, so does the entire Bible. *In the age of "What's in it for me?" God still commands that we humble ourselves and work to help other people without thinking of rewards.
Now ladies, if the man isn't up to the challenge of being a good husband, beware. *If he loves you, he'll show it by the little things. *He'll let you have your own opinions. *He won't stop you from seeking employment. *He won't beat you, cheat on you (you think Christ ever cheated on the church?), or all the other bad things out there. *And if he does any of these things, your obligation to him is null and void. *Not loving one's wife as one loves himself is un-Christ-like. *Therefore, if he beats you and does not beat himself (and how many times have we seen a husband beat himself?) then you have no obligation to him, as he is obviously not in the Christian light. *And if you are, then staying with him means mixing light with darkness, and being unequally yoked, and that too is not good.
The Grace of God be with you all now and forever. *Amen.
OK, now that I've given the sermon this morning (up and at 'em early today!), I can just talk. *I get to see my girlfriend today after she gets off from McDonald's (and gets a shower so she doesn't smell like a big french fry, her words not mine). *The poor dear has been working since 5:30 this morning . . . sounds like someone else here, RIM . . . *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif
I got my computer fixed yesterday, completely de-bugged it and got rid of those pesky viruses (same virus in two files actually). *Starting on the first Tuesday of July, I work at my alma mater helping their band. *That will be fun. *I've worked with the sax section the past 2 years and I don't mind bragging a bit that they are the most improved section in the band. *Of course, I got lucky and good players got in when I started teaching, so it wasn't like it was a Mr. Holland's Opus or anything. *I think I'll work with clarinets this year. *Oh boy . . . . *I'm in trouble, http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif
Well, in other news, I heard that there was some rain and humidity yesterday in Colorado that helped slow one fire, but winds pushed another one further. *May God send 2 days of rain to that area to quench the blazes. *Just as Christ calmed the storm, I pray that He will calm the fires.
Well, I'm off to clean the bathroom. *The cat has decided that she will no longer use the litterbox, but she'll be happy to go beside the litterbox. *Leave it to a cat.
Well, maybe I'll have my 2 http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cup.gif this morning first.

Good morning! Well, I'm going to avoid housework for another day and head back to the beach. I am really enjoying this lazyness. I wonder if there's a way I could do this for a living and still get paid?
Angelus - your cats penchant may be a sign of a health problem - best to check it out before it becomes a habit. On the other hand, mine uses the bathtub if I've let his box get too full.
Well, I think I might be able to find a good news story, Terri, so I'm going to go hunt for it. See you all later!
Btw - it took me nearly 20 minutes to read all of yesterday's posts!

Oh, SABER... Isn't that something? The USA played far superior to Germany but they lost... I'm so sorry. And England lost to Brazil as well. My two teams that I was really screaming for!!!
Oh, well.. They played absoluely great. You sure have some great players there.
It won't be long now, RIM, till you're "on the road again"!! Just want you to know, there are no fleas here! But... Oh well... I'll just pack up the futons!
Fires have to be absolutely the worst destruction. I won't forget yesterday. It was funny to see myself on TV last night!
Talk to you all later...

Sue - My cat is nearly as old as I am. She's either 19 or 20, not sure exactly. It's probably that her legs are too stiff to climb into the litterbox, since she can barely walk now (but she sure can meow with the best of them, and she seems to be trucking right along, only slowly).

Oh, Angelus - that is a hard time for an elderly cat. My own started having that problem a few months before he passed away (the saddest thing of my life - I'd had him for nearly 18 years). One thing to look into - if it's "arthritis", sometimes the vet can do something - mine gave my kitty a cortozone shot, which kept him pain free and able to move about easily (including climbing, jumping, and getting into and out of his box) for months. I think it was a real blessing for me and for Kitty.

Good Morning All! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/28.gif
The front page of the site is full of good articles this morning. If anyone is looking for one to post you can't go wrong there. I picked up a couple that we might enjoy talking about.
The President announced his plan for a healthier America yesterday. I put it in Current Events. This is an original GOPUSA news story. We'll be seeing more and more of those soon.
The SCOTUS announced a capital punishment decision yesterday that is going to have a huge impact on our legal system. This one is in Current Events also.
Didn't post this one but thought it was interesting that some fellow in Las Vegas is reporting that he overheard a conversation on his cell phone plotting a terrorist hit on Vegas on July 4th. I think the whole country will be nervous that day.
I'm supposed to be mopping the kitchen floor. Going to go finish that up and then come back to catch up on all your posts. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/JEDIpinkietoo.gif

Good Morning All: I see where American Patrol put the Tancredo poll up for all to use. So far it has had 10,000 sign the petition and hes hoping for 1 million. Hope he gets that and more. I was going to send Ipara some rain yesterday, but none showed to send. The weather people are now saying that there might be some isolated showers here in NC, but nothing looks very promising. I'm lucky that I also have a well for watering and washing the car - its been getting a good workout for the last month.
Was sorry the US lost to Germany but they played a good game and got the respect of the Germans.
Hope everybody has a great Friday.

OK, the floor is clean. I was not intended for housework but the darned place seems to get dirty anyway. *http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif
I'll pass along any updates that I get on the AZ fires. They sound about as bad as ours. *Not sure what today will bring but the firefighters are hoping for good conditions again. One problem is that the country is running out of these kinds of firefighters. Some are coming from other countries but the it's grim.
Aberfoyle, I'm looking forward to our move too. Some things will be a little different in the new version. I don't think anyone will have any problems but we want you to know that you can e-mail any of the moderator staff to get answers to questions.
Everyone who wants one will need to choose a new avatar once the new software appears. They will be bigger and not the same ones.
RIM, are you leaving tomorrow?
Saber, I didn't see the game. Too bad we lost but maybe next year! *
Angelus, I think you raise a very interesting subject this morning. If you would start a discussion on this in the Culture section of The Family Hearth, I would comment. Having been married for a very long time I want to weigh in. *
SueElise, I think you should avoid housework and go to the beach everyday. Well, maybe a day here and there in the house so you don't have to get a scoop shovel. *Vacation is to be enjoyed!
Hi laughin! I'm all for more kindness so I'll check out your link. We don't have instant links here so we have to do the code thing but that will change in the new version. Stay tuned!
Der Alte, thanks for the update on the Tancredo petition. I hope it does well. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/twothumbsup.gif

Well, looks like I may NOT get to see my girlfriend today. Apparently McDonald's here has a habit of telling people they must work from (for example) 5:30 am until 9:45 am and then keeping them until 10http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif0 at night, without giving them a bathroom break if they need it. That makes me so mad! I think I'll boycott McDonald's now until they start letting their employees work reasonable hours and let them use the restroom, for goodness sake! Well, I exaggerated a tad. I know, shame on me. I should've made that clear earlier, sorry. They don't tell her when she gets off. They tell her it'll just be 15 more minutes or so, and 5 hours later, she's still there. It was only 2 hours yesterday, and today we are counting still. She was supposed to be off work an hour and a half ago. I'll keep you informed.
Top of the Mornin' to Ya! TGIF Hope everyone is having a great Friday. Angelus, good posts on marriage, and I look forward to seeing it in Culture thread, too for further advice giving.
Terri, hard to imagine you are the one having to mop your floor. There are no trained wolves or male foxes to do it for you? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif I am not "intended" for housework either, but the foxhole gang is giving me little choice; clean or get out! BTW, I don't need to find an empty futon (although that would be preferable); I can cozy up just about anywhere, like a cat. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/28.gif I heard some of these news stories this morning on the radio, mainly about the rat test with stem cells (gist is they can come from normal bone marrow instead of just from embryos), and about the July 4 threat. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/shake.gif Nice way to try to ruin our Independence Day celebration.
Saber, where in South Florida is he going? I have relatives all over the place down there (swarms even) mainly in western Broward County.
Ok, now down to more serious business. I want to know which of the foxhole gals brought the fleas into the shed floor in the first place. We are going to have to have her dipped whoever it is. I have my suspicions, but can assure you that this wolf's fur is clean (be it in sheeps clothing, or be it the clothing the sheep is in). http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif So, now I want Saber to get to the bottom of this, and use her cross-examination skills (if you hadn't noticed) to find out which of her foxmates did this. These fleas weren't here before... http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif Now, I am going to have to presume that if she cannot "discover" who brought the fleas, they might possibly be hers? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
The US team is to be commended for how well they did, at least 2 rounds better than anyone expected. It is good to irritate a few other countries in international sports events with our athletes. I am not worried about them losing to Germany, as this is a long trend towards gradual improvement, and there will soon be the time we start regularly making it to the semifinals or finals. England lost today, too. My prediction is Brazil (to win overall), although I'm sure that is not going out on a limb.
RIM, have a safe and fun trip. I will check on the store for you to make sure everything is ok. You never know with a new bossman and all. Did you say I might bring a margarita or two, or that I might drink a margarita or two? http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/f_bubbly.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif and who is you know who? Anyone I know?
Well, off to read the threads. I also am going to maybe post an article or two in my paper which were good ones. BBL.

FLg, you are so funny! Fleas?? I haven't seen fleas in about 10 years here. Guess it's our cold winters.
I watched the England game. I couldn't believe it. It was such a good game but so disappointing. I really wish that the World Cup was more often than every 4 years. That's just too long to wait till the next time.

I'm getting serious............. ... http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
I've been finishing up "paying the bills" that I started the other day and got side-tracked half way through. Anyway...I was perusing my AT&T long distance bill since it's higher than usual this month...probably because my two sons keep calling their long distance girlfriends (but that's another story)....
There is a charge on the bill called a "Universal Connectivity Charge" on there of over ผ.00 for the MONTH. It says that if you have questions about this charge to call this 1-800- number which I did. GET THIS!!! The GOVERNMENT requires all long distance carriers to charge a percentage of residential customers' bills (in this case 11.5%!!) to some Universal Connectivity FUND for poor people. SAY WHAT???????????????? ???????????? Is there EVER ANY END to the cradle to grave funding these people get???????????? EVER????????? I pay for a roof over their head, I pay for their heat, I pay for their air conditioning, I pay for their food, I pay for their healthcare! These are just off the top of my head! And NOW....I'm also paying for their phones!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What in the H-E-L-L is wrong with our politicians?? I'm starting to come to the conclusion that ALL.....ALL...incumb ents should be voted the hell out of office. To allow this Robin Hood country to get to the depths of socialism that we pay for every "darn" thing because we've worked our butts off to make a comfortable life....and they treat us like EVVVVVVVIIIIIIILLLLL LL RICHHHHHHHHHHHH people! OH GOOD GRIEF! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif
Let's extrapolate a bit...ผ.00 x 12 months = 贰.00 A YEAR....JUST FROM ME....... to pay for people's phones.
Here's what this cold hearted rich conservative thinks. If you can't afford something....YOU DON'T GET IT! PERIOD! You either go without...or you work harder to make more money!
AND THEN THEY WANT A TAX REFUND WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN PAY TAXES!!!!!!!!!! http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

I understand that the National Enquirer is coming out today with some very damning personal life info on some of the Smart "brothers". *The article says, apparently, that three of the Smart brothers, including the father of the missing girl, are involved in some kind of very kinky gay "coven".
The "compassionate" side of me (which is waning quickly) decided not to say anything about what I thought because it's so petty.....but that father does seem awfully "feminine" to me......not that that means he had anything to do with his missing daughter, but he seems very strange to me.......
OH, and the article says that the wives of these brothers know all about this "coven"!

lpara! You reminded me of a story about my son. Once when he was still home, about 19 or so, we were having problems with kids messing around the front of the house. So one night he took his sleeping bag out on the front lawn. Being the nervous mother that I am, I curled up on the sofa with the window open in case anyone bothered my 6' 3" baby. I heard him yell and sat up just in time to see an egg hit him right in the forehead. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mdr11.gif *
Whoosh! He was gone down the street and he came back dragging a kid about 13 years old. We called the boys parents and they were furious, no not with their kid, with us. It's 2 a.m. and it's OK for their kid to be out egging houses but we shouldn't interfere. The cops came, they took the boy and refused to accept the complaint from the other parent. The kid was released to them at the police station and is probably in the big house by now.
I'm sure glad there won't be 5 more months of hot weather here! Whew! Hopefully we'll be making snowmen 5 months from now. http://gopusa.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Fire update! Our fire is in better shape tonight than it has been for a very long time but that is just relative. Some people on the north side of the fire have been allowed home. They are still planning for it to get out of control when the hot weather returns.
The Air Force Academy has drawn up a worst case evacuation plan and all of the FDs in our county were called to a meeting in case it becomes necessary to defend Colorado Springs.
Two other fires in the state worsened considerably today. One of them is burning million $ homes. The other has burned over 50 homes.
And a word about the other Terri. Her co workers are defending her loudly. They simply do not believe she did this on purpose. *Here's a link to Rocky Mountain News (http://www.rockymountainnew s.com/) for anyone who would like to see photos are more coverage.
