Mike Bayham
Mike Bayham received his Arts and Sciences bachelors degree from Louisiana State University, with minors in Political Science, History and Political Communications in 2000. While at LSU, Bayham restarted and served as President of the LSU College Republicans. Bayham also served as a political columnist for the Tiger Weekly, an LSU newspaper. The following year, Bayham became President of the Young Republicans of Louisiana.
Bayham's writings have been published in the New Orleans Times Picayune, the Baton Rouge Advocate, The New York Times, and the New Orleans weekly magazine The Gambit. Bayham has written a weekly political column distributed over the Internet since 1999. Bayham is also a columist for the HuntingtonNews.net, an internet news site based in Huntington, West Virginia.
Mike Bayham's political background stretches back to 1987. A veteran of over 60 political campaigns, he has served as a volunteer, campaign manager, and candidate.
He was the youngest delegate elected to the 1995 Louisiana Republican State Convention. Bayham has served as a delegate to the 1993, 1995, 1996, and 1998 Republican State Conventions. In 1996, Bayham was one of the youngest elected delegates at the Republican National Convention in San Diego.
In 1996, Bayham became one of the youngest parish (county) party chairmen in Louisiana history. That same year, Bayham was elected to the St. Bernard Republican Parish Executive Committee and was re-elected to the committee in March of 2000. In 1999, Mike Bayham became chairman of the St. Bernard GOP PEC.
In 1996, Mike Bayham was elected to the Republican State Central Committee, becoming its youngest member. In another tightly contested race, Bayham was re-elected to the RSCC, where he remains as the committee's youngest member.
