The Sixties are Back and We Must Vanquish Them Forever
By Kevin Fobbs
April 5, 2004

An exercise for readers over 40: Close your eyes and remember stories and phrases you've heard on the news over the last year.

Protests against the war. Anguish that we're in a quagmire. The establishment is evil and motivated only by greed. The government is "The Man" and out to get you and take away your liberties.

The Era of free love. Drugs and Rock and Roll. Anything goes. If it feels good, do it. Simon and Garfunkel on tour. Radical parents abrogating their responsibility by living in a commune. Teens rebelling against their staid, stay at home Moms and boring bring home the bacon Dads.

Open your eyes, no, your nightmare isn't that you were having a 60s flashback; the nightmare is that it's 2004 and the Radical Left is back with a vengeance. The target is the same as it was forty years ago, our values, our history, our core as a society, and our children.

Today, on the liberal warfront, it's blame America first, get to the nearest protest, call the War in Iraq a quagmire and basically call the president a liar.

On the home front, it's almost more insidious, our kids are the biggest victims. Sex and violence marketed to our teens. The decency line is not blurred, but obliterated on our movie and television screens. Music advocating violence, music videos that go past soft porn, being performed by "singers" barely out of their mouseketeer ears.

Two changes from the 60s equation is that today, teens are no longer rebelling against stay at home moms, but rebelling to GET attention from parents who aren't paying attention because their either rich and famous and don't have time, or are busy climbing the corporate ladder and don't make time. Children aren't being dumped in the commune but dumped on the nanny.

Study after study has shown the damage done to children in the post-liberation Era. Parents have forgotten how to communicate with their children or worse yet, never took the time to learn. Instead of family time together, they have let video games and MTV raise their children. We were involved in our neighborhoods, not cast adrift nor isolated from our neighbors. We volunteered, looked after the seniors, joined the PTA.

Working moms and divorce, lack of personal involvement with our children's education and their day-to-day life are the biggest factors in troubled youth. Our children have become mirrors of who we have become as a nation. They see our lack of involvement, our lack of concern except in a superficial, polite cocktail party way, and they mirror the behavior they see.

And if you're working or just uninterested, the bottom line is that you are not there to monitor the filth your children are being exposed to everyday in our media, in our school yards, in our neighborhoods or to provide them with proper day to day guidance.

A recent report came out that stated 1 in 6 teenagers drive while smoking pot. Ecstasy (the new LSD), heroin, pot and cocaine are frying young minds. Many parents are woefully unaware of the current drug problems in their middle class neighborhoods.

So, what's the good news? Well, here it is America, the heartland is fighting back. More and more parents are deciding to stay at home and raise their children. More parents are again getting involved in their neighborhood school's PTAs, neighborhood associations, and church community projects.

Parents are taking their children's education back. They are sick of the public school indoctrination protocol and are putting their kids in private school or home schooling. They are writing the FCC and complaining about a lot more than Janet Jackson's wardrobe malfunction and Howard Stern (both laudable complaints). They have spent 300 million dollars to go see a movie about Jesus Christ. They are returning to church. They realize that the current climate is not indicative to raising a stable, solid, loving human being without proper, wholly engrossed parental guidance.

The bad news is that the mainstream media, the Liberal Elite, and the Hollywood crowd, don't get it.

Hollywood, Liberal Democrats (which now has become an oxymoron), the elite media, the elite intellectual set, are all aligned, focused and angry. And they're coming after you and your kids.

They're coming after our lifestyles, our belief system, and our core existence. They want to relive the sixties, all over again. We can't afford to relive the sixties, and we can't afford to let anyone who advocates for sixties policies anywhere near the center of power in this country.

The polls suggest we are a divided nation, you hear it all the time. Ever since Florida and the 2000 election. Pollsters on both sides of the aisle say that this election is going to be "very close." We're a divided electorate. We beg to differ. If you look at the poll numbers individually for the hot button issues of the day, the polls say a different story.

We are not divided on gay marriage, abortion, the War in Iraq, The Passion of the Christ, the War on Terrorism, the garbage spewing on our airwaves, the importance of family,

home, and hearth, and our children. We are letting our voices be known, but here's what they aren't telling you. They don't care. Not a wit, not an iota.

The Liberal elite in this country in all areas are running hard and they are running scared. They can read, and everyday they are reading that their numbers are down - on television, in the music industry, in the movie theaters (unless you are Finding Nemo or Jesus) and they are down for the count in the nation's capital. However, numbers are up for Fox News, Christian television and radio, movies (Finding Nemo and Jesus) and

conservative talk radio.

And in our nation's capital, the Democrats know this all too well. They lose vote after vote, voting against America's interests. And they don't care. After all, it's an election year and this is their Alamo, their last stand. They don't want the sixties to ever end and are even about to nominate for president, a poster boy for the sixties, John Kerry. They know that if they don't win this time, the sixties will finally be over; they will be over and not for four years, but for a generation.

This is the most important election this nation has seen since the sixties. The stakes are enormous, for our safety, our security, our historical values, and our children.

It's time to vanquish the sixties and everyone who represents that ideology, once and for all. We'll continue to let the Hollywood elites know how we feel with our pocketbooks, but it's up to us as citizens to let the Liberal elite know how we feel at the ballot box in November.

We have nothing to lose but our soul if we fail. We don't think it'll be close at all.

The vote for family will win in a landslide. The sixties and all the radical extremes they represented will be gone for good.
