Forget the Grinch - It's Liberals Who Are Stealing Christmas

The Anti-Christian Liberal Union has struck again. In between their quest to homosexualize the Boy Scouts, the ACLU has taken up its' holiday cause celebe - removing any vestige of Jesus Christ from the celebration of His birthday. School boards and communities - plagued by ignorance and fearful of lawsuits - have expunged Christ from the most innocuous of events.
The principal of Lake Washington High School, in Kirkland, WA, has banned the production of Dicken's "Christmas Carol". The "Christmas Carol" is non pc throughout, with its talk of sin, redemption and the true meaning of Christmas, but it was Tiny Tim's prayer, "God Bless us, every one" that formally caused its expulsion. Washington is not alone. The mayor of Somerville, MA, issued an apology for sending out an invitation to a "Christmas" rather than "Holiday" party. The Wichita Eagle likewise ran a correction for referring to a "Christmas" Tree rather than a "Community" Tree at the Wichita Winterfest celebration. The city of Denver refused to allow a Christian church to have a float in the city's holiday parade, although the homosexual Indian support group and the Chinese lion "spirit chaser" dancers were welcome.
School districts from Florida to New York banned the singing of Christmas carols - one school even banned strictly instrumental numbers. Elementary school children in Oregon were not allowed to give out religiously themed Christmas cards. In Rochelle, MN, two girls were reprimanded for saying, "Merry Christmas" in a school play. Department stores like Macy's - which owes a good deal of material success to Christmas shoppers - have even abandoned the traditional "Merry Christmas" greeting in favor of the generic "Happy Holidays". In New York City, a menorah and star and crescent were erected, but a Nativity scene was rejected. Home Nativity scenes have been stolen, broken and vandalized across the country.
This problem is not limited to America. In Italy, the Pope is making a strident call for returning Christ to the celebration of Christmas. Nevertheless, an Italian school in Treviso replaced the Christmas story with that of Little Red Riding Hood, and Muslim-Italian activist Abdel Smith has agitated for the removal of crucifixes from public places. There, as here, Communist front groups are said to be supporting the removal of Christianity from the public square.
What possible threat could a man, long dead, pose to those who seek to expunge him from society? Yet, the European Union, in what is surely a Faustian bargain, decided against any mention of historical Christianity and its impact upon Europe when the participating nations signed their "Constitution" on October 29th, 2004. Separating Christianity from what used to be called Christendom surely takes a willful bit of artful deception and a blind eye to Europe's real problem, which is an unassimilated and sometimes hostile Muslim immigrant population whose birth rate vastly outpaces that of native Europeans.
Nevertheless, Christ strikes fear in the hearts of Communists, socialists and totalitarians because He stands in the way of the establishment of the liberal statist utopia - the tower of Babel on earth. Man's insolence has not changed throughout the ages and totalitarians throughout history have tried to expunge religion -especially Judaism and Christianity - so that they can assume the mantel of the divine. Christ reminds us that we are given our rights, including freedom, by our Creator, not by governments run by sinful men. Christ shows us that we are to have no king, save Him. He tells us that our knee should never bow in submission, except to Him. Dictators and despots have fallen, bested by this seminal truth and those who were willing to fight for it.
In America, thankfully, Christians are finally fighting back against the secularist tidal wave. Lawsuits, boycotts and campaigns have been instigated, and local Christians have mobilized. A woman in Florida successfully won a suit letting a Nativity scene be placed in a display which included a menorah. Supporters of the church float in Denver marched ahead of the parade, singing Christmas carols and passing out hot cocoa. Parents have petitioned intolerant school boards for inclusion. Many are winning.
In a country which is approximately 80% Christian and where approximately 77% of Americans believe in the Virgin Birth and the incarnation of Jesus Christ, it is high time that the majority quit letting the vocal minority dictate policy to them. It is time to assert the old vow, "No king save King Jesus". It is time to put the Christ back into Christmas, where He belongs. Merry Christmas, everyone.
