Palin Should Go On Letterman

Not since Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas faced down the trumped-up lies of Anita Hill before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 1991 has a public official suffered more undeserved abuse at the hands of petty, small-minded liberals than Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska.
This decent Christian woman has served her God, her family, her hometown and her state in an honorable fashion. She answered the call last year to have her good name placed on the ballot with the hapless John McCain when he needed a true conservative to bolster his lackluster poll numbers with the Republican Party he had disappointed so often over the years. She pulled adoring crowds of 20,000 to 60,000 loyal GOP faithful who believe deeply in the conservative principles of their party platform. He was lucky to get 1,000 people in one place to listen to his watered down pabulum about earmarks and amnesty.
And what thanks did Palin receive? Country Club Republicans turned up their noses at her, while members of the elitist news media, acting as unofficial press secretaries for the Democratic National Committee and dutiful lap dogs for the Obama machine, obediently attacked her and played "gotcha" journalism whenever they interviewed her. They called her stupid. They said she talked funny. They ridiculed her home state, her experience, her non-Ivy League education and the fact that she was a former beauty queen. They clucked about her husband being some sort of separatist, and snickered about her Evangelical Christianity.
They accused her of corruption in Alaska, and initiated investigations against her. (By the way, did you hear them trumpeting from the rooftops the recent news that she was cleared of every false charge? Neither did I.) Finally, while wallowing at the bottom of their scum bucket, her enemies decided to go after her children.
Every American family deals with personal issues. For the Palins, they were under a microscope when it was revealed that their 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, was pregnant. The hyenas on the left could hardly contain their glee. This was just too good to be true! Everyone from the cackling crows on "The View" to the late-night talk show hosts could not believe their good fortune. Especially David Letterman.
The campaign ended more than seven months ago. The loony left now has its socialist messiah in the White House and a solid majority of Democrats running both Houses of Congress. The Palins have returned to their beloved Alaska. And still they attack the governor in every cheap and tawdry manner imaginable. Especially David Letterman.
Recently, Governor Palin took her 14-year-old daughter, Willow, to a major league baseball game in New York City. Their attendance was in support of charity. Afterward, David Letterman came on the air to do his usual insipid stand-up monologue of lame jokes, left-wing political attacks and juvenile trivia. In an incredibly tasteless moment that must still have Don Imus's jaw on the floor, Letterman told a "joke" about Sarah Palin's daughter having sex with an infamous playboy baseball player during the seventh inning.
