When Redemption Becomes Offensive
By Doug Patton
June 5, 2006

"Christianity," he continues, "must evoke from the believer the same response it drew from the first disciples: a passionate desire to obey God, a willingly entered-into discipline. That is the beginning of true discipleship. That is the beginning of loving God."

So what is it that makes this ministry such a threat to the Republic? It is the notion that man needs someone greater than himself in order to survive and prosper. It is the idea that when man is in control, he fails. It is the concept that John Adams might have been correct when he said that "This Constitution was made for a moral and a religious people, and it is wholly inadequate for the governing of any other." To those who trust in the secular, the idea of Christian redemption is offensive.
