'Taking To The Diaper?' - Better Grab A Dry One!

Yes, when I heard Senators Reid and Schumer make such prattle that they (Republicans) did this to us back in such and such year, and we're just getting back at them . . . oh, my goodness! If we've been held hostage by a bunch of adult children who are trying to get even, then heaven help us all.

First of all, who cares what squabbling went on ten years ago, and secondly, George Bush wasn't President then, so it's nothing but the brothers and sisters of our fine, upstanding legislative branch of government who want to get even with each other. It has nothing to do with integrity. It has nothing to do with tradition. It's a game and we're the lowly pawns. We have no choice but to sit and watch you play this charade out till someone wins. You're doing it on our dollar and that's enough to make any of us mad. We don't have the privilege of voting-in an automatic pay raise every year for ourselves. Maybe if you foot the bill for this filibuster and all this other ungainly mess you've gotten us into, it would make a difference. With our money, you don't seem to care.

It's quite evident to us lowly folks back home that if you can make backroom deals over people's lives and string them along for years, then you really have no integrity at all. It's not about the character of Priscilla Owen, Janice Rogers Brown, or William Pryor -- it's about your character. You've been keeping the focus so intense on these people that we stopped looking at you. But once you brokered "your deal," these people all of a sudden came up to the accepted standards? Do we really look that stupid?

The current modus operandi of filibustering has been this wink and a nod agreement that we'll all come back together again on Monday morning and start where we left off. So, off to the resort, or your favorite cabin in the mountains, and leave the filibustering to no one. Along the way, you must have decided that it just didn't fit your style to conduct a "traditional" filibuster anymore.

Well, by all means, let's get back to tradition. As Harry Reid says, "For the sake of tradition, let's do it right."

What a joke! If the real meaning of "filibuster" is not upheld, how in the world are we going to deal with the term "extraordinary circumstances?" You people beat all I've ever seen. And to think, we pay good money for your minds. So, ladies and gentlemen, if it's tradition you're trying so desperately to hold on to, and if it's integrity you want to maintain, why don't you show us some?
