Bobby Eberle
President and CEO, GOPUSA
Dr. Robert (Bobby) Eberle is President and CEO of GOPUSA, a company dedicated to promoting the grassroots conservative philosophy through the distribution of political news, information, and commentary via the Internet and special events.
Bobby received his Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering from Texas A&M University in 1990. This was followed by M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from Rice University in Houston, Texas in 1993 and 1995, respectively.
Since adopting a news and commentary format in September 2000, Bobby has built GOPUSA from an unknown political start-up into one of the top conservative destinations on the Internet. Beginning with a small group of four hundred subscribers and no advertising budget, Bobby has taken GOPUSA to new heights -- now reaching 600,000 subscribers every weekday with updates of news and commentary. Under Bobby's leadership, the GOPUSA web site has become a prime source of information for newspaper, television, and radio outlets that want to know what conservatives are thinking.
Bobby has extensive writing, online publishing, and public speaking experience, having addressed audiences across the country ranging in size from the tens to the thousands. His opinion pieces have been featured in the Washington Times, Human Events, Insight Magazine, Houston Chronicle, and numerous newspapers across the country.
Bobby has been recognized as an emerging leader in conservative politics, including being profiled in USA Today (as one of five new "powerbrokers" of Internet politics) and Insight Magazine (for using the web to spread the GOP story). Bobby has appeared on MSNBC's Scarborough Country and has been a guest on numerous radio programs including Bloomberg Radio, the G. Gordon Liddy Show, and Fox Radio.
Bobby's activities within the Republican Party of Texas (RPT) include serving as a delegate to the 2000 Republican National Convention in Philadelphia. Bobby also served as a delegate to the RPT State Convention in 1996, 1998, 2000, and 2002. Bobby served on the RPT Education and Training Committee from 1998-2000. Bobby served as a member and chairman of the Rules Committee for Senate District 13 and was SD 13's representative on the Rules Committee of the 2000 RPT State Convention. In 1999, Bobby was recognized with a unanimously approved resolution of commendation by the Republican Party of Texas for service and dedication to the Republican cause.
Bobby served as President of the Houston Young Republicans, the Director of Club Development of the Texas Young Republican Federation, and as a three-term State Chairman of the Texas Young Republican Federation. On the national level, Bobby served as Chairman of the State Chairmen's Association. Bobby also served as Vice Chairman at Large of the Young Republican National Federation.
Bobby has volunteered extensively with the Institute of International Education. In his capacity as a speaker on politics and the youth movement, Bobby has given educational presentations to dignitaries from Chile, Poland, Hungary, and The Netherlands. In addition, he has served as a construction volunteer and as a member of the Volunteer Coordination Committee for the Houston, Texas chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
In 1998, Bobby was selected as one of only 96 people in Texas to serve on the Board of Directors of the Texas Lyceum Association. This organization, which has included in its membership such notable Texas leaders as President George W. Bush, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, and Governor Rick Perry, is comprised of political and civic leaders under the age of forty. Also in 1998, Bobby was named to Outstanding Young Men of America.
Bobby has been married for nearly sixteen years to Kathleen Eberle, M.D. They are members of St. Helens Catholic Church and have two children, a 9 year old daughter named Charlotte and a 4 year old son named Tres.
