Malkin: The White House Court Jesters of Sequester

By Michelle Malkin

Traffic alert: There's a massive clown car pileup in the Beltway. And with the White House court jesters of sequester behind the wheel, no one is safe. Fiscal sanity, of course, is the ultimate victim.

President Obama has been warning America that if Congress allows mandatory spending "cuts" of a piddly-widdly 2 percent to go into effect this week, the sky will fall. The manufactured crisis of "sequestration" was Obama's idea in the first place.

But that hasn't stopped the Chicken Little in Chief from surrounding himself with every last teacher, senior citizen and emergency responder who will be catastrophically victimized by hardhearted Republicans. Curses on those meanie Republicans! How dare they acquiesce to the very plan for "cuts" -- or rather, negligible reductions in the explosive rate of federal spending growth -- that Obama himself hatched?

How low will the kick-the-can Democrats go? Among the ridiculous claims the administration is making: The National Drug Intelligence Center will lose $2 million from its $20 million budget. That scary factoid appears in an ominous Office of Management and Budget report purporting to calculate the Sequester Disaster. So lock the doors and hide the children, right?

Wrong. As Reason magazine's Mike Riggs points out, the NDIC shut down in June 2012, and some of its responsibilities were absorbed by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Ready for more reckless, feckless farce? Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano played Henny Penny during a panicked speech at the Brookings Institution Tuesday. She warned that her agency's "core critical mission areas" would be undermined by the sequester. To cynically underscore the point, "waves" of illegal aliens were released this week from at least three detention centers in Texas, Florida and Louisiana, according to the Fort Worth Star Telegram.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed the release of some illegal immigrants Monday night, but would not say how many or from which detention centers.

The real punch line, as I've reported relentlessly, is that the catch and release of criminal illegal aliens has been bipartisan standard operating procedure for decades. The persistent deportation and removal abyss allows hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens -- many of them known repeat criminal offenders -- to pass through the immigration court system and then disappear into the ether because we have no determined will to track them down and kick them all out of the country.

While Napolitano shrieks about decimation of the DHS workforce, DHS workers tell me that the double-dipping of retired ICE brass -- who get back on the payroll as "rehired annuitants" -- is rampant.

While this open-borders White House phonily gnashes its teeth over the sequester's effect on national security, its top officials are lobbying for a massive nationwide amnesty that would foster a tsunami of increased illegal immigration for generations to come. The shamnesty beneficiaries will be welcomed with open arms, discounted college tuition, home loans and Obamacare. And as every outraged rank-and-file border agent will tell you, DHS top officials have instituted systemic non-enforcement and sabotage of detention, deportation and removal functions.

In another emetic performance, Obama parachuted into a Virginia naval shipyard this week to decry Pentagon cuts that would gut our military. But I repeat: The reductions in spending are CINO: Cuts In Name Only. If the sequester goes into effect, Pentagon spending will increase by $121 billion between 2014 and 2023. Fiscal watchdog GOP Sen. Tom Coburn adds that $70 billion is spent by the Defense Department on "nondefense" expenditures each year.

Send in the clowns. Wait. Don't bother. They're here.

The great divider and and destroyer of American society and wealth Obama, now finds himself in the embarrassing situation of actually being responsible for initiating a policy for cuts in wasteful government spending that IS going to happen. ” You little brat of a Sequester, look what you’ve done, you put out the fires I set on the poltical straw men,,,,,I’m melting,,Oh what a horrible world,,,,how could this have happned, how could a little girl like you destroy my beautiful wickedness” and the people of Oz responded,,Hail to the Sequester, the wicked Witch is dead.

You know I try to resist bringing up history of this world, and particularly recent history as close back as the Third Reich…

Not many readers born after the late 1940s recall Adolph Hitler and WW11, particularly his destruction of the German culture…making it a land of “OZ”, rather than a culture to be admired.

But I strongly encourage readers to go back in history as written in available books,

…and pretend you are a “wanna-be” dictator with a narcissistic demeanor, who seeks to become as great as he deems himself as he stands before the mirror…i.e., “mirror, mirror on the wall…”

…there are numerous well written and reported historical events that are available to one who has that much evil in his soul to draw from…

Now, lets be fair, FDR arrived into a very similar circumstance as Obama when he became President…and he really had no “quick fix” as promised during his campaigning…

As I read about FDR I found where he sought guidance from history himself, reading about WW1, the Russian Revolution…and was also VERY enamored with the rise of Mussolini who took dictatorship of Italy during hard times…

There were also some very powerful people in America at that time who went so far as to advise FDR to bypass Congress, the Senate, and to embrace the military and become what Elinore Roosevelt called a “benevolent dictatorship”..

FDR considered this the most…and also noticed what Hitler was doing to “save” Germany after their fall following WW1..

Obama embraces all of these dictators I’ve mentioned here..

ALL were successful in bringing their countries back up and off their knees…

…the most effective method they used was to first DESTROY the most powerful influences, and start again…Hitler did this VERY well…and

…OBAMA finds this method the most preferable…

YET…we don’t recognize it…we allow him to end run our Constitution, Congress…

…because we just can’t imagine there would be anyone like the dictators of old who would attempt this repeat of history with America…those personalities were not real they think, and say “it can’t happen here”…as they pull the lever at the elections to elect and re-elect the “wanna-be”.

The reason people like Hitler were succ3essful in taking over their countries was that the first DESTROYED all potential resistance, the military heads were replaced, the courts were replaced, the friendly and professional media were turned into propagandists…

      Now…Obama etc, etc, etc

Unfortunately, this much-hyped sequester doesn’t cut anything. It merely reduces the increases in spending by 2.3%. Put that into perspective. As I understand it if you make $1,000 a week and get an annual increase of $50.00, with the sequester in place you will get an increase of $48.85 instead. Is this the stuff of catastrophe the pretender in the White House is howling about? Alas, mother government might actually have to cut a few dozen of it’s redundant programs. Hail to the sequester indeed!

So very true, however, the MSM and the PR idiots for the putz in OUR White House still are spewing the same BS they’ve settled on as “talking points” from the beginning. Guess they figure that if they keep proliferating the lies, their followers will take up their banners and follow like the good little lemmings they are.

The raising of taxes at the beginning of the year, and adjustment to economic growth after the election resulted in a negative growth for the quarter. This happened BEFORE the sequester. When the sequester goes through, Obama, the Dems, and the press will blame the double dip recession on the sequester and the evil Republicans.

…and the low info voters will soak it up.

It doesn’t matter what we do. Why capitulate then? Start punching back, and I mean HARD! We lose when we compromise anyway!

No more powder puff GOP in DC.

It is unbelievable that Janet Napolitano approved the release of over 500 illegal criminals in Arizona and will release up to 10,000 more saying the sequester cuts caused the release when the sequester hasn’t even happen yet and should have no effect on these criminals. They choose Arizona because they are mad at them and are willing to endanger the public which is unconscionable. This administration has no morale standards and will do anything to further their goals. They don’t care who they hurt as long as they put down the Republicans. It is pathetic.

Now some nit wit Republicans want to give Obama authority to sequester cut where he sees fit instead of accross the board,,,just more of the above release of illegal criminals to follow. You fools lost the last election not over ideas, but because you funded Obama with trillions of stimulus money he eventually used against you to get re-elected. Which nit-wit want to give him more rope to hang you with?

Now I just wish the Republican Party would roll up their collective sleeves and really go through the whole budget, line by line, and put together a real 5 year budget plan that weeds out, once and for all, all of the duplication of effort, pork, fluff, and all other line items that don’t relate to a specific and necessary government function. If they did that, imagine how much they could cut? Osama wants a tax increase? Fine – offer one equal to dollar per dollar reduction in his salary, and the travel, clothing, and entertainment budget for him and his family. He will never knowingly agree to any cuts to his living expenses, but he will have a hard time asking for Americans to cut theirs when he refuses to cut his own. “Leak” the details in advance to the media in the guise of a “landmark compromise” with the headline that the POTUS has brought those nasty Republicans into line by forcing them to accept a tax increase. Bury the details of the equivalent requirement at first, then subsequently “leak” that detail as a “good faith” effort on the part of the POTUS who will fearlessly show his fellow citizens that he is not afraid to lead the charge to fiscal responsibility. Let him bow and scrape and smile. Then as soon as he signs the bill, have the GAO immediately enforce the cuts to his personal expenses. (The worker bees in the GAO are not political appointees but rather career civil servants.) Include language that grants them the authority to enforce the cuts to POTUS’ living expenses and a reduction in force to their office if they fail to comply within a set time period. The dollar amount of savings will not make a signficant impact in anyone’s lifestyle except the POTUS and thus will merely be a ceremonial portion of a bill which could finally get our country back on track. We need to be able to “spin” stuff just as well as they do – every good CEO does it every time they present a budget to their board of directors.

What scares me, and what puts things in perspective, is the fact that the federal govt borrowed at the rate of almost $38,000 a second in 2012. When is this imposter-in-chief going to grow up and start being responsible? I am so tired of his whiny attitude and his unwillingness to try to cut even his own personal expenses. Who has the authority to at least take the AF1 keys away?

Yes, Ms. Malkin, the jesters dance around waving their pom poms for everyone’s entertainment…and distraction. Yet, those folks that are in dire need of work to feed their family, keep a roof over their heads, and clothes on their back are not laughing…I’m certainly not.

This is merely one more “manufactured crisis” to divert attention from the fact that the Democratic (sic) Senate has not passed a Budget, lies are still being told about Bengahzi, Fast & Furious is being buried by all the distractions, etc., etc., etc. What’s even more disturbing (and disheartening) is the MSM being co-conspirators in all this with their biased, altered vid clips, and out and out lies to proliferate the “show”.

The Republicans have no one but themselves to blame for all their woes. Opportunity upon opportunity has presented itself to “man up” (no offense, ladies) and represent ALL of their constiuents…Democrat, Republican, Tea-Party, Independent, etc. After all, they were elected to represent their State/Districts and not to cave in to partisian politics. Unfortunately, the only difference we seem to see in our politics is what side of the aisle they are seated. They all have forgotten their responsibility to the people they are supposed to represent and the Constitutional boundaries set for the Federal government.

You’re right on the mark. And when you mentioned the “on with the show” multimedia, one has to remember that almost all the investigative journalists died out just after the end of WWII. What is left is a group of college derived dung-fodder that wouldn’t know how to investigate a wart on their own butts, and would give the media whatever two hairs they find there, even if one might be from a dog or cat, if they figure it will sell to the sheeple. Nobody that they can’t out shout or out spend will notice. Our new media is an “entertainment show,” rather than an organ of the truth.

The sheeple are stupid enough to invite the wolves in for dinner along with their providers and then run away before dinner, and the wolves just love it! What happens to the sheeple when the wolves finish eating all the providers? No one will be left that cares, the sheeple will have no defensive guns, and the wolves will gorge themselves on sheeple until they run out of food and start eating themselves. The last wolf will be a lonely creature.

As always, great posts! I enjoy reading your thoughts on this topic.

Speaking this last week to several democrat’s, I found myself clarifying their faulty assumption on what is was…exactly what it was…why it was put into place…and why Republican’s were staunchly refuting anything the Obama White House/Dems were putting forward. The looks on their faces were priceless.

I watched amused as smart phones were pulled up and the facts and information I had given them was checked and double checked. They truly looked hazed and confused. You see, little by little, the ‘faithful’ are slowly being allowed to see. From the expressions I witnessed, they ain’t happy about it either!

Time…time is all its gonna take before the walls of Jericho come tumbling down around Obama’s knee’s. Reid and Co. won’t be able to shore up those walls with as fast as they will tumble down. When your very own base of hopey dreamy changey begin to question you and can truly see…you have lost the game. Obama is on the cliff now…and it’s only time before the entirety of the Nation watches as he slowly climbs up out of the rubble and asks a Eurkel question… “did I do that?”

*><*…. the resounding answer will be "Yes…you did that!"

True….and sad. Sad to watch people who as adults behave like school kids poking each other and watching to see what happens while Rome burns and the fire trucks have no water.

We deserve better….or do we? Many of us have watched and complained….much like we are doing here today. So, what to do? Keep complaining? Is it helping? Vote some of the clowns out? Will it help?

The really sad truth folks is we are sinking and have not reached bottom! When the walls of Jericho collapse around us all….what next? Obozo and the ruling elite will be protected….what about the rest of us? Our government is so broken and so dysfunctional it is beyond repair.

The colonists of this great nation fought what was then a super power over much less than we endure today. What are we to do?

For Powertothepeople: We do what the dems do so naturally…we squeal and squeak until we are the wheel that gets the grease!

Fax, phone calls, letters via snail mail and email; votes (sure why not?) Rally, post signs in your front yard, educate your friends/family/neighbors on any given topic. Be heard…that is what you can do. It does, believe it or not, garner attention and leaks into the national conversation.

We do what needs to be done..we do what needs doing! Past that, it is up to each individual to his or her skills and talents to take it the next step. (And it is days like our present that it kills me I’m disabled and unable to physically do more than write letters, phone reps and fax.)

Have faith… we have been through worse (see FDR and the Great Depression) and we will conquer this too.

Obama doesn’t really care if the sequester happens or not. This is a messaging opportunity that he is (sadly) winning. His message is that cutting government spending hurts people and the economy. He’s waging a long term war. We are responding to specifics. Talking specifics are OK, but we can’t loose site of the larger message that the spending is wasteful and the economy (and real people) are better off when people spend more of their own money.
