Parker: Ben Carson Owes No Apologies

By Star Parker

According to Cal Thomas, well-known nationally syndicated columnist, Dr. Ben Carson owes President Obama an apology.

Dr. Carson spoke this past week at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington -- a bipartisan annual event held since 1953, attended by members of Congress and usually the president.

President and Mrs. Obama were present this year, and Thomas feels that Dr. Carson was out of line for including in his remarks areas considered public policy -- our national debt, our tax system, our publics schools, our health care.

According to Thomas: "Our politics have become so polarized and corrupted that a president of the United States cannot even attend an event devoted to drawing people closer to God and bridge partisan and cultural divides without being lectured about his policies."

Dr. Carson is an African-American physician, director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, who rose out of poverty in a ghetto in Detroit. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush in 2008 and is a role model for every American of every background.

I'm also proud that he serves on the national advisory board of my organization, CURE.

Although Dr. Carson did mention these various aspects of how we manage -- or mismanage -- our national affairs, he never once referred to the president or associated his comments on these issues with any political party. And to the extent to which President Obama might have taken Dr. Carson's remarks as personal criticism, it would only be in the sense of "If the shoe fits, wear it."

To the contrary, Dr. Carson began his remarks with citations from Proverbs and Chronicles, and tied the issues he spoke about to his broader theme about the moral crisis of our nation today. He talked about the moral decay of ancient Rome and how "they destroyed themselves from within."

And he then expressed optimism about Americans being able to solve our problems because "we are smart" and that "we have some of the most intellectually gifted people leading our nation."

No, if President Obama was offended by Dr. Carson's penetrating remarks, it is because the president had to be the one losing perspective of the moral tone of the event and Dr. Carson's observations.

What seems to offend Cal Thomas is that Dr. Carson has not fallen victim to the Washington disease that Thomas himself seems to have contracted as result of too many years in our nation's capital.

Dr. Carson noted the vital importance of freedom of expression in America and how "political correctness keeps people from talking about important issues while the fabric of the society is being changed." He warned that "we can't fall for this trick."

What, after all, is the point of a National Prayer Breakfast, "devoted to drawing people closer to God," if the core issue now dividing us is whether we are indeed a "nation under God" and whether this means that His Word, as revealed in Scripture, is even relevant to our national life and how we conduct our affairs?

This Word has already been banished from our public schools and increasingly from all our public spaces. Now apparently it's even off limits at the National Prayer Breakfast.

If anything, Dr. Carson was forgiving to not mention the moral disaster of abortion legal under any circumstances (supported by our president) and 55 million murdered unborn children. Nor did he mention our president's endorsement of same-sex marriage and today's collapse of the American family.

The prophet Isaiah admonished, "To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to me? says the Lord ... even when you make many prayers I will not hear: your hands are full of blood ... cease to do evil, learn to do good."

Religious ritual devoid of content is pointless and destructive. This was Isaiah's message 2800 years ago. And this is Dr. Ben Carson's critical message for America today. Certainly nothing to apologize about.

Bravo to bobgay and as I’ve said several times, Bravo to Dr. Carson. His speech was a breath of FRESH AIR in these days of poluted garbage, lies, accusations, and trashy talk. I applaud Dr. Carson for having the spine to stand up for his beliefs (and mine too) and he owes not a single soul an apology, especially Obumble.

For Bobgay: Agree! He is a fine speaker…much better than most in Washington today!

I have a feeling, Dr. Carson’s mother is very proud of her well accomplished son. I had the pleasure of watching the movie based on Dr. Carson, (Cuba Gooding Jr. did a fantastic job!) I recommend it highly. Gifted Hands is the title…

This mother, who came from the most dire of circumstances, lifted up both her boys to heights that few ever attain. Her perseverance, love, and deep devotion to her children is what helped to grow two amazing gentlemen. Our nation is all the more wiser and better for having these brothers in it.

As far as an apology,?; I just don’t see it. I didn’t react to Dr. Carson’s comments in any other way than the feeling of sitting in a house of God, listening to pure feeling, love and tenderness in the truth of his words. I found his speech imploring, pleading and based in hard understood facts that this man obviously had walked for himself. It lifted me up and gave me hope. Is this not what a prayer breakfast is for Mr. Cal Thomas? Is this not the exact meaning and ‘meat’ of the entire theme of that get together? I believe it is.

May Dr. Carson, his brother and his family continue to shine a light during this very dark time in our nation. May they continue to speak the truth and help guide the multitudes out of darkness and into the light.

      If Washington had a lick of sense, Katherine Sybillis would be outta job by Tuesday. : }

Did anyone count Obama’s rude remarks about Republicans and conservatives standing in his way? His angry rhetoric against those whom he wanted to blame for the ills in this country caused by his agenda was tacky and a cheap shot. Dr. Carson spoke honestly about the problems but didn’t point the finger. Obama squirmed and looked guilty because he knew Dr. Carson was telling the ugly truth about Obama’s agenda. Dr. Carson is a classy speaker, more intelligent and compassionate than anyone in Obama’s administration. He is the kind of person we need to take America back from those who don’t love and respect her like we do.

      Obama owes Carson an apology.

Is Obama better than him? I think not.

Since when is being an astute observationist of the status quo deserve an apology? Ben Carson is a modern day saint. He actually works for a living. He pays hefty taxes. He has helped countless people at a deep level nationally and internationally with his gift.

What a petty little sniveler Obama is. How childish!

If any apology is owed by anyone to anyone—it is Obama owing an apology to every American citizen. When someone stands up and lays out clear, common-sense solutions to problems which the President and his administration just don’t even understand in the first place—it will certainly make Obama look bad by default. It exposes him for who he is—it makes him look bad—and rightly so.

Of course, it isn’t Obama’s intent to come up with workable, simple solutions—it doesn’t fit his agenda to “fundamentally change America” which is political jargon for “completely ruining the Nation”.

And, Mr Thomas, if you are so concerned about people coming together under God, then you need to refresh your memory as to the assault on God and Christianity that is being waged in this country. This current President needs to pull his head out of racism and Islam and acknowledge the God he is so concerned about when someone stands up at a prayer breakfast and exposes his true irreverence.

I was fortunate to hear the words of Dr. Carson. He hit the nail on the head with every word. If I had been there I would have given him a hug and lifted him off the floor. I wonder what Sharpton, Waters, Jackson, Lee and others are thinking. They know he is right, but they will not admit it because their mission is to take America into the New World Order, therefore, the truth must be denied. Look up on “search” the “New World Order” and click on “Conspiracy.” Also search the “Council on Foreign Relations” and click on “conspiracy.” Do the same with Bilderberg Group. You’ll understand better what Dr. Carson was talking about, and you will be much better patriotic Amica, as Dr. Carson surely is. I prey he isn’t taken in by the GOP. I hope he joins the Tea Padrty where he is deperately needed. Don’t Tread On Me! Minutemen, stand and prepare to fight!

Maybe Cal should resurrect some of his old spark and stand up for the truth. Obama has used every chance he gets to knock anyone, even the Supreme Court, when he speaks. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander! Our old prophets told it like it was and so did Jesus Christ. Honoring the office of president is one thing, but when the man that stands in that place is corrupt- he needs to be told the truth. He surrounds himself with YES people and may never hear the truth, otherwise.

Obama will never appologize for anything. It is not in his make up. I have commented before that Obama is a Marxist/Leninist using Hitler’s play book.

A Leninist believes that lying, killing and making false promises is the way to go in an attempt to gain power.

Yes, he owes an appology, he owes the American people more than that for his betrayals and treason. But he will never do so. It is not in his nature.

What was a great aspect of Carson’s speech is that all those who are quick to call anyone who dare question or oppose Obama’s policies a racist, can not use that ploy in this case.

The left can’t stand the truth nor can they understand that they are doing things the wrong way. Since they couldn’t find anything wrong with Dr. Carson’s life, they have to run down the timing of his speech. Their shallowness and childish retorts are meaningless. This whole administration needs to be raked over the coals a lot more than 27 minutes of good common sense and reality of what is happening in our country.

I completely agree with what you said but, unfortunately, we have very few Republicans who are qualified to do what you said. For my money, they’re the Right Hand of the Left Wing. They have no concept of leadership, even when it falls into their laps, so they end up losing the position but gain the contempt of everyone who was watching. They seem to think that as long as they were kicking and screaming UNTIL they surrendered and voted with the Democrats, we’ll forget that they voted against WHY we voted for them in the first place. Comparing our representatives to brooms, it’s time we all sent brand new brooms to Washington. An honest man can correct his mistakes. A corrupt one did it on purpose, so he’s going to hide it and lie about it if he’s found out. (Bush did it and, evidently, he’s still doing it.)

Instead of using the word gall, I would have substituted a b for the g and added an s at the end. That’s precisely what our teachers and school system are ‘training’ (bullying) out of our kids. My kids are all grown but if they were in school today, I’d be in the face and down the throat of ANYone to told one of my kids that they’re not allowed to fight back to defend them-self. As a kid, I lived in foster homes and was picked on a lot. While showing off with a kid who was bigger and two years older than I was, I accidentally learned that I had one heck of a punch. I knocked him unconscious. The girl that we were showing off for thought I’d killed him and ran home crying. He was out for ten minutes. After that, I didn’t take anything from anyone. What actually calmed me down was taking Judo, when I was in the Army in Korea. It’s one thing to feel like you have to prove that you can beat someone and another to KNOW that you can kill them. Even though I’d never lost a fight in my life, I stopped fighting because I already knew who would win.
… What this country needs is to hear a whole lot more from the LEADERS in this country who aren’t afraid to kick sand in the face of the politically correct bullies. Obama puts his pants on ONE LEG AT A TIME… just as we all do. Tell him to get over himself.

What we REALLY need to do is to start putting the HEAT on the NEWS MEDIA. Their slanted, partisan news coverage must stop. The idea of a free press was to CONTROL the government… not CONSPIRE with it.

I believe Rebart that Mr. Cal Thomas either didn’t turn up his hearing aid, or, he was unable to understand that everything Dr. Carson spoke upon was in deed a biblical principal. Perhaps Cal Thomas hasn’t been in his bible lately and has forgotten exactly what is relative at a prayer breakfast.

When I served in the last five or so years on a state district board for PTA in Northern California, I found that many of the well rooted volunteers on that board had an agenda. Seems silly since no one made a dime doing their jobs on that board…but I digress. When I spoke about modernization, using the internet for drives, using software to track money and accomplishing yearly taxes instead of hand drawn pencil to paper techniques, I was verbally assaulted and treated like a leper. Why would they react that way? Answer is, they already knew. Those old bitties knew their time was over and they had to pass over the reigns of power to new advances and time saving ways of running the organization…and yet, they had to fight it just to hold on to some relevance for just a little longer. Their ‘ride’ as it were, was over. Mr. Cal Thomas knows he’s in the death throws of his careers. Most American’s have no clue who he is, save in small devoted circles. Dr. Carson did what Cal himself has wanted to do for literally decades…and somehow got caught up in the trap of vetted speak, self editing speak…all in the name of bi-partisanship.

In essence… Cal Thomas is jealous and will admonish anyone for doing what he himself knows must be done….all to hold onto a little bit of power and sonority for just a bit longer. What Cal Thomas doesn’t understand, he just sealed his own fate and has begun ringing the death knoll for his own purpose and usefulness. Let him kick and scream…allow the old idea’s to be overtaken for the new…it will work itself out.

It is precisely What Dr.Carson was talking about- political correctness, or in Cal Thomas’s case – the desire of being a suppository for THE Messiah’s rear end! The question still remains-What he is trying to accomplish at this stage of his career….

No President should attend a National Prayer Breakfast. Matthew 6:5 And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. for they love to stand and pray inn the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.

      Amen,

Your assumption is that the participants in the political process have some relationship to the teaching of Jesus of Nazareth. The case for that assumption is now unfounded. When a “minister” cannot discern between a momoent for sacred prayer with a chance to score political points, it demonstrates lack of sensitivity to the spiritual needs of others and ignorance of basic Christian principles.

Of more concern is that the former “moral majority” has sold out to the fruits of mammon to the point that “Huckleberry” himself was promoting a leader of one of the grandest religious frauds in American history as a presidential candidate.

Indeed, the GOP will recieve its just rewards this side of eternity, and its well earned penalties on both this side and the other.

If an apology is necessary from anyone it is Cal Thomas who claims to be a reporter.Guess the TRUTH hirts especially when it is presented so clearly. I found Dr.Carsons speach to be quite refreshing.

Yes, plain spoken , straight to the point, the simplicity of his explanation on the ills of our country should be even accessible for the low low low information/intellect voter…I hope!…It doesn’t hurt to dream…;-(

Dr. Carson’s speech was fantastic. Here are some links to another individual who has an excellent perspective into America’s woes:

Our horrible situation CAN be changed, but there is a specific way to do it.

The point isn’t where Cal Thomas has been living, but where Dr. Carson was speaking. If we can come together in a place of worship to share our faith (without emphasizing our political differencs), maybe we could then better cooperate in political forums to address those differences. I agree with almost everything Dr. Carson said and disagree with almost everything the president does. I have to admit that I enjoyed watching the president’s discomfort, but suspect that Dr. Carson’s comments will not bring us any closer to solving the issues he addressed.

So, Chip, your idea is to do nothing it sounds like. Dr. Carson’s speech brought him to the forefront in American politics. His speech opened the door to debate, and you don’t think he brought us any closer to solving the issues? He had to start somewhere. So you really think we can discuss the issues with Obama? You live in a fantasy land if you do.

Dr. Carson’s speech will do nothing to accomplish anything! It is refreshing and rewarding to hear someone tell the truth right into Messiah’s face..it rarely happens as the PC and race card had been played non-stop and any opposing views by Anyone had been mercilessly attacked by liberals and media.
Due to overwhelming respect towards Dr. Carson media has a more difficult time devouring him…that is all…

Apology? Never for The Truth! Obama owes the country an apology for being a congenital liar.

I watched this Prayer Breakfast and I was both surprised and mightily impressed by Dr Carson. Obama actually winced as he heard the truth. He doesn’t often hear truth, not from his gaggle of ideologically empty acolytes nor from the lamestream press. Of course, Obama is impervious to the truth, he does not have a realtionship with it. But that’s OK he needs some now and then and maybe this is the start of something? Hope so. Obama won’t change but someday he’ll be gone. This might be the start of that!

There is a great and timely lesson to be learned from Dr. Carson. It is clearly stated in 2 Timothy 4, verse 2, where the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy saying, “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.”
Dr. Carson used his faith and his opportunity wisely!

Cal Thomas is an unmitigated buffoon if he thinks Dr. Carson owes Hussein Obama and/or Michell Obama an apology. Dr. Carson was telling the truth, in plain English, that us “common” Americans can understand. All Americans know that Dr. Carson was speaking from his heart, while telling about his life experience’s, taught him by his loving Parents. I have listened to his speech about three (3) times and enjoyed every minute by listening to him talk and tell the truth. Obama and his wife could learn a lot from Mr. Carson, one thing being, they would learn how to tell the truth themselves. Thank you for your time. TSgt., USAF Retired.

Dr. Carson’s speech was the most refreshing I’ve heard in a long time. Mr. Thomas…..an apology is not necessary to The King who is the most arrogant, egotistical…well, I could go on and on. I respect the office of the president itself, but I sure don’t respect Obama, who has/is destroying our beloved Nation. In fact, I dislike him intensely, especially for what he is doing to our grandkids, etc. Heaven help them! Beyond my comprehension why he has not been impeached. May God Bless this beautiful country of ours. Lord have mercy!
