Schlafly: Amnesty Won't Elect Republicans

By Phyllis Schlafly

The Republican strategists who confidently predicted that their candidate, Mitt Romney, would win the 2012 election are already pontificating about what Republicans must do to win in 2016. After their disastrous defeat, strategy and policy mistakes and expensive super PAC advertising that failed to win votes, why should anybody take their advice again?

The elitists now tell us that amnesty for illegal aliens, aka "immigration reform," is the key to future Republican nirvana. That's wrong-headed advice.

Barack Obama sealed his victory in the battleground states: Ohio, Wisconsin, Virginia and New Hampshire, but those states have very few Hispanics, and illegal immigration was not a significant issue. Obama won narrowly in Florida, another battleground state, but the Hispanic vote there is Cuban and Puerto Rican, and they don't care about immigration laws.

Most polls show that Romney's pro-enforcement policies were more popular than Obama's pro-amnesty views. Let's look at some numbers.

In regard to the entry of illegal aliens, a CBS poll in August found that 63 percent of voters believed that Arizona's immigration enforcement laws are either "about right" or "didn't go far enough." This was confirmed by a Breitbart News election-night poll reporting that 61 percent of voters favored Arizona-style immigration laws, including 63 percent of independents, 53 percent of blacks and even 40 percent of Democrats.

The notion that the main reason Hispanics vote Democratic is their support of amnesty for illegal aliens and their resentment against Republicans who oppose it is a big political lie. The reason Hispanics vote Democratic is that two-thirds of Mexican immigrant families, although they are hard workers, are in or near poverty, and 57 percent use at least one welfare program, which is twice the rate of native-born non-Hispanic households.

That's not a constituency for whom promises of amnesty for more poor immigrants would persuade them to vote for the party that is branded as supporting tax cuts for the rich, limited government and spending reductions. Nor does it mean that Hispanics are a voting bloc eager to vote for a white Cuban, Marco Rubio, instead of the party that is offering them cash, health care and other benefits.

The elitists are trying to wrap their fallacious argument in Ronald Reagan, but that won't wash. Reagan was persuaded to sign a major amnesty bill for the then-illegal aliens, but it's well known that the resultant amnesty was rife with fraud and did not produce Republican votes.

In Reagan's 1980 victory, he received 35 percent of the Latino vote, and in his landslide of 1984, he received 37 percent. After Reagan's generous 1986 amnesty, George H.W. Bush's 1988 victory produced only 30 percent of the Latino vote.

Another myth about Hispanic voters is the notion that social issues will get them to vote Republican because they are Christian and pro-family. The Hispanic illegitimacy birth rate is 53 percent, about twice that of whites, and a Pew Research Center poll now reports that the majority of Hispanics support gay marriage.

An American National Election Study asked a question about free market versus government solutions. Only 17.9 percent of Hispanics responded "the less government the better," and 83.3 percent said a strong government involvement is required to handle economic problems.

The pro-amnesty crowd waged an expensive campaign this year to defeat the famous Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio, but he nevertheless won his reelection. He said he wants to talk "man to man" with Obama and explain that granting amnesty to illegal aliens is unfair to legal immigrants.

Policymakers should read the studies by Cuban exile scholar Jose Azel that probe into Hispanic attitudes and history. He concludes that the sociopolitical heritage from Spain and the post-colonial experience of Latin America have led Latinos to view government very differently from the principles of limited government enunciated and adopted by our Founding Fathers.

There isn't any real evidence of Mexican assimilation to parallel the Irish and Italian assimilation in the early 20th century. The assimilation of the Irish and Italians absolutely depended on stopping the entry of more new foreigners, which the United States did in the 1920s.

The voting bloc that Mitt Romney ignored, but which Republicans must recapture if they ever want to win again, is the blue-collar men without a college degree who had well-paid manufacturing jobs until the free traders shipped those jobs overseas. They used to be called Reagan Democrats, and they were an essential part of the big victories won by Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

Republicans need a new strategy to recapture those good middle class jobs. We don't need them merely for Republican votes; we need them also to restore our manufacturing capacity and jobs for economic, national security, and family-support reasons.

It would also be instructive to ask why 10 percent of black males voted for Romney

Why 23 percent of Hispanics voted for Romney

Why 44 percent of young women voted for Romney

Also why did 73 percent of the asian vote go against Romney because from what I have heard it was NOT for Obama

Heard they were voicing their dissatisfaction with their vote always being taken for granted by the Republican party

Which brings up the real point, isn’t the Republican party taking a lot of other votes for granted if they think they can get votes by betraying those whom vote for them now?

By the numbers, Republicans have added more to the debt than Democrats, Republicans have grown the government more than Democrats.

So when the people lack a true conservative candidate they vote for the lessor of two evils

The whole Lib lite is a path to guaranteed losses

Good analysis. Right on! Even though I count myself a Republican I am first and foremost a Conservative.

Unfortunately, both parties are extremely corrupt. Especially the Democratic Party. But, the Republicans are just as bad. I am embarrased sometimes to admit that I am a Republican. And you are right, under Reagon and Bush the national debt went through the roof. Reagan’s motive I understand. The Democrats had so crippled the military that he had to beef them up so that he could carry on his war to defeat the Soviets. He out spent them. Then with the help of the CIA, the Pope and the Labor parties in Poland and Eastern Europe the overthrew the Soviets.

Now, under GW Bush, in my opinion there was no reason for the spending spree the Republicans went on. There they were in control of both houses of Congress for the first time since before FDR. They preach about limited government and what do they do they expand it. They could have done so much to eliminate the waste in government spending and the size of government which creates that waste. No, instead they added to the national debt.

This corruption that goes on in the Republican Party when it gets into power started under Lincoln and continued throughout the rest of the nineteenth century. The idea of Obama becoming like a dictator and taking all kinds of power to the Executive Branch, is nothing new. Lincoln powered that idea when he invented the Executive Order. Now, if the President wants to circumvent Congress or the Judiciary he issues an Executive Order. A lot of the tyrannical power that Obama has today he either inherited it from Existing Orders that were still in effect, or he issued plenty of his own.

In order to restore the Republic, one of the things that needs to be done is for Congress to outlaw the use of the Executive Order by the President. It gives him too much unnecessary power.

I think that the Republican Party may have blown it with the American people by allowing themselves to be taken over by the power elite that control both parties (one of the accomplished goals of the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx). This fact makes it impossible for the American people to have a clear cut choice in any election. It is like being in the Soviet Union with a one party system. This was reflected to us in 2008 and 2012 we clearly had no real Conservative as our candidate. It was planned this way.

I, myself, have pretty much had it with the Republican Party. If I have to throw away my vote I think I will check out the Libertarian or the Constitution Parties. At least they have an honest Platform a Conservative, like me can get behind. Now, if they had some real money and organization behind them, like the Republicans do, we might be able to elect some decent Conservative candidates.

Again, get a hold of Glenn Beck’s book “The Overton Window”. It shows how the power elite use propaganda to manipulate the people to change their way of thinking about politics and to manipulate the elections using the media, which they control.

Referencing states that do not have large Hispanic populations as not considering immigration as important to them as do the states with large Hispanic populations ignores the fact that many Hispanics will vote for or against issues that do not affect them personally but solely on the basis of voting with other Hispanics based on their mutual heritage.

It’s a race issue much like many of the ninety some odd percent of blacks voting for Obama on the basis of him being black. In fact their votes for or against a candidate do not reflect their positions on the real issues but on the basis of their shared heritage.

This is so true. It shows how deep racism is in this country. They accuse the Caucasians of being racist when it is they who are racist. When this country was founded it was done so by White people. In the Constitutions of all the States the only ones recognized as citizens of that state were White people, including White Hispanics. There were no Asians, Blacks, Indians or other races that had citizen rights and especially voting rights. Back then, to vote you had to be a landowner. Today, the progressive liberals have manipulated the voting requirements to include illegal immigrants and even convicted felons.

Now, we come the the voting blocks of the blacks and latinos. Yes, they will support the ones that share their heritage, whether it be race or national heritage. Let’s face it with the illegal Latinos they have no shared heritage with us White American, or even the black Americans. If anyone has earned our heritage it is us White and Black Americans. We should all be sticking together.

As to the Asians, there are a large number of them we don’t talk about that are illegal. Just as with the Hispanics there is a big industry in smuggling illegal Asians into this country. For some reason we turn a blind eye to that. They do have a lot of legal immigrants who have earned their citizenship. For that they should be commended.

Now, as to the Blacks and Obama. Let’s face it folks the major reason he got elected is because the African-Americans saw him as a way to stick it to White America, pure and simple. A large part of why they came out was because he was black and this was their big chance to stick it to us. But what they don’t realize is that the man was the wrong choice for America on so many levels. But they did not care. They felt that they would be getting a lot of government benefits from Uncle Sugar. Boy, are they in for a major surprise. You try to get any benefits from the government, whether it be from the SBA or from Medicare. Forget about it. You have to jump through too many hoops. Try to get a well paying government job. Too many hoops. Now, if you get lucky and know someone who can guide you through the traps and mine fields of trying to get a good paying government job, you better have a good education or you will end up being a well paid janitor, sweeping floors and cleaning up toilets in some government building.

Oh, and while I am at it I might as well mention the jewish community. Talk about racism. They are the worst. Anyone who tries to tell the truth about what they are up to or stand for and you get crucified by the Anti Defamation League or the B’nai Brith. These organization were set up and sponsored by the Rothchilds to promote Zionism, a cause near and dear to Rothschild. The nation of Israel is their pet project. They were the power behind the establishment of Israel and all it stands for. Most of the Israelis are Russian, some from Eastern Europe and the rest of Europe. There are more Jews here in America than Israel. Why is that? You talk to the real orthodox Rabbis and there is a real conflict with their supporting Zionism. Why is that? You can look this up on the Internet and the discussions about this are there. Don’t take my word for it, research it yourself. Anyway, I bring up the Jews is because they are a large voting block. In order to get them to vote for you you must support the protection of Israel.

Now we have a growing Muslim community in America. Soon they will be so numinous that they will be a real threat to this country. They do believe in conquest by immigration. They are practicing this in Europe right now. They couldn’t grab it by the sword now they are trying to do it by immigration. What fools the Europeans are for allowing that. They will either end up on reservations, like our American Indians or dead. Won’t people wake up and learn the lessons of history. Muslims are just as deadly today as they ever were. They have just changed their tactics of conquest.

Oh well, if you do not understand the electorate and what motivates them to vote for or against you, as a candidate or a Party, you will never be elected to power. Know your electorate.

Lets face it, the Republican Party has always favored the illegals. This is the only issue where the Democrats and Republicans agree. The Republican Party is heavily funded by the likes of the National Chamber of Commerce that loves the cheap labor. This new found support for yet another amnesty isn’t new found, it’s been there all along and the recent vote is their latest justification. Numbers USA reports that powerful Republicans have joined forces with Obama to establish a super pac supporting yet another amnesty. What more proof do you need regarding the Establishment Republicans?

I have my doubts that Republicans or Democrats can resist the profit of shipping well paid jobs, to cheap factories, workers… overseas. They are fine with companies like Apple being based here, making everything in Communist China!

The GREAT INDUSTRIAL might of an America that defeated two powerful advisories, developed nuclear weapon capacity in just 4 short years has been slowly and willfully sold out at a tidy profit. WW 2 is ancient history to be willfully forgotten save for parades, some statues here and there. About as meaningless as the faces on our Currency is such history.

Schlafly is spot on about The Rust Belt–Blue collar workers. Yet like Clint Eastwood said, “Every four years you people tell us things for our vote…” Well there you go again Mister Politico, that does not work anymore. All of the Pollyanna banter about small businesses does not carry much heavy water. Mom & Pop businesses did not defeat Hitler & Tojo!

The whole attempt to out pander the Democrat/Progressive/Communists in their Nanny State plus useful idiot apparatchiks scheme is NOT going to do anything but alienate the voters that produce and who are a HUGE voting block. Chasing after another small slice of a small pie is stupid and suicidal.

As for assimilation melting pot doodle thinking, try driving around Los Angeles or other cities like Los Angeles. An Alien Nation if I ever saw one. Dangerous too! Dad did not risk his life in WW 2 for this!

It would be nice to know that when I cast my ballot, that the system is not full of rampant corruption. End the Voodoo Electronic Voting period! End mail in ballots, save for the military, oh, and bother to count their ballots too.

The whole vote thing stinks of a Banana RepubliK! And so we have Papa Doc for another 4 years, and likely another 4 and another 4… Insanity!

I find your comments about illegal alien immigration most interesting. Especially about the statements made about the states that were the battleground states not having a significate hispanic population.

The problem about illegal immigration is that it ties into the illegal traitorous work being done by our Democrats and Republican leaders to bring about the North American Union between the USA, Mexico and Canada. Plus, the Mexican leaders have their own agenda to reconquer the Southwestern States that were paid for in cash and American blood as a result of the Mexican War. The Mexicans lost the war and we compensated them for the loss of these territories by paying them $10,000,000 dollars. So, those lands are ours fair and square by right of not only conquest but also by legitimately compensating Mexico for those lands.

Now, they want those lands back and they are using illegal immigration to do it. It is called Reconquesta. Conquest by illegal immigration. It is one of the oldest tactics in the book on taking over lands. After all, how do you think we white people took over North and South America? How do you think us white people took over Europe? How do you think the Jews took over Palastine and turned it into Israel? They are using our own tactics of conquering lands against us. And they are doing it with the help of our politicians in Washington and elsewhere. They are secretly supporting the efforts of bringing to pass the North American Union. They are doing it like they did in Europe with the European Union. First by setting up the Common Market and then they got people used to working together in a commone marketplace. Then they set about setting up one Union of all the independent countries of Europe. If Hitler had been smart he could have done the same thing and they would have gotten their goal accomplished without bloodshed. At the time, there was a lot of support for Hitler, even the Bush family supported him both morally and financially. There was a lot of support amongst the Eastern Establishment for Hitler, in the beginning. Even the Duke of Windsor and Charles Lindbergh were avid supporters, and don’t forget Ambassador Joseph Kennedy. This support from this crowd goes on only under different names and groups but is is all designed to subjegate America to the New World Order or the Fourth Reich.

By keeping our borders open and letting these masses of illegal immigrants coming and not figuring out a realistic way for them to be deported it allows the wrong people into our country. We have seen the results of that in two disastrous elections. The liberals who dominate the Democratic party have used their influence to change the voting laws to allow criminals and illegal immigrants to vote. No wonder HE got elected both times. Wake up folks, and smell the South American grown coffee. Juan Valdez is no longer in Columbia he is living next door and dating your daughter and selling drugs to school kids. Viva LaReconquesta! How’s your Spanish? Not your high school Spanish, that is useless, I mean your Mexican Spanish. Without our English being the National Language like it is supposed to be, we are now going to be a multi language country, like Europe, and you know how divided they are. It is all part of their plan to divide and conquer. Think about it!

I don’t have a bone to pick with the donkeys and elephants holding part of the fault with our industry moving to other countries and as regards working toward a North American Union, but I do place the lion’s share of the blame on them for taxing our industries to death so they’ll have more money to buy votes with and with the unions for the ridiculous salaries and benefits given to the rank and file and their upper management.

Industry is moving out of the United States to escape the highest industrial taxes in the world and the high labor costs simply because the job of industrial leaders is to make big dividends and higher stock prices for the stock holders and as much profit as possible to support their claim to the insane bonus’ they give each other. I seriously doubt that they have a burning desire to move to China.

Remember the retiring CEO of Exxon a few years back being given a $40,000,000 going away bonus and the stink raised over it? Their excuse was that he had been with the company for years and led them to the profits they were making. I was wondering at the time if he had worked for nothing for all those years. And just supposing he did, how did he become a multi millionaire? Generally speaking I’ll support business over government for most of what they do while keeping a very sharp eye on them, but in some instances like this, I’m compelled to call BS.

Sitting here in Texas I listened to President Bush denying the push for a North American Union as well as our still sitting Governor do the same and all the while they were building the gateway entrance between Mexico and Texas, not to mention the plans on the table for the 12 lane highway through the state heading north. A highway that would consume millions of acres of farm and ranch land confiscated via eminent domain. All this financed by a Spanish consortium that was to run the highway as a toll road and keep most of the profits. And parenthetically they were hiring some of the Governor’s top aides to fill high level do nothing jobs.

Why would they do this? So that cheaper goods could be brought into the company and they (the politicos) could get a cut of the profits via “campaign contributions” while our industries were going bankrupt trying to compete with foreign companies.

Personally I don’t trust big business and even less big government. Very few give a shiny dime for the good of the country, just their bank accounts. I’ve seen it work at high levels. I had the misfortune to work for Enron at the middle level where the big boys, ably assisted by bought and paid for law makers, stole 28,000 employees retirements and left many of the over 50 on social security. Can you imagine the joy of having a retirement you worked for 20 years to build disappear into the pockets of the 51st floor club and how easy it was to find a job at 55 with a master’s degree and for the cherry on top, being a honkey?

I know that many others have seen worse happen to them and I’m not looking for a group pity party in my honor, but it’s hard to not take it personally.

Ms. Schlafly’s comments about recapturing the blue collar worker’s vote is right on target. The best way to do this is create and economy that supports the providing of manufacturing and other types of jobs that are good paying jobs, not the wage slave jobs that are being offerred today. There is a definite trend amongst employers to keep wages on a slave, or poverty level.

The politicians waste everyone’s time by debating on whether, or not to raise taxes. That is all a big illusion. The taxes they are wanting to raise are income taxes that are used to pay to the Federal Reserve to pay down the national debt to them. None of these taxes goes to running the government or creating jobs.

No what we need here is some bold REAL tax reform. The ONLY solution that I have seen that makes any sense is the FAIR TAX. (SEE FAIRTAX.ORG). This tax addresses the real issues of how to raise money to run the government. The Fair Tax bill will eliminate the Personal and Corporate Income Taxes, plus the Gift and Estate Taxes. They will replace these confiscatory taxes with a National Sales Tax of around 23%. It does not add to the taxes that people are paying now, such as payroll and other taxes that will be eliminated in favor of the National Sales Tax. You take home all your pay, minus your Health Care and SocialInsecurity. This leaves more money for the workers to take home. It also eliminates all the reasons for companies and investors to go overseas. It will bring the jobs back to America. Without all these unnecessary taxes these companies will come back to a business friendly America. Also, it will bring in a lot of foreign investors in American companies. America will become a new tax haven. There will also be no loopholes tied into the Income and Corporate taxes. Also, no need for creating all kinds of expenses as writeoffs. There will be no writeoffs. Because there will be no tax to avoid. It will also eliminate class warfare. Everyone is bitching about the rich avoiding paying their fair share of the income tax.

I’ve got news for you folks. It was found that the 16th Amendment which established the Income Tax is illegal. It was never ratified by the required number of States. Why do we allow this sham to continue. Too many people have been hurt by it over the years. It is time to call it to a screeching halt.

Go to and and get educated on some ways we can combat this situation legally.

The fact that the 16th amendment is considered illegal by some (probably true) really makes no difference now after all is said and done. It’s in place, it’s being used to some extent to help citizens by such as building highways, NASA (now gone and probably gone forever), the FFA and to fund our military which we need badly in this world without regard to the wars we stuck our noses into with Iraq and Afghanistan, not to mention Korea and Vietnam.
The Gulf of Tonkin which was used to get us full bore into Vietnam and cost us around 58,000 lives and who knows how many wounded was a staged event by the government with the knowledge and support of most of Congress. This ties in nicely with Eisenhower’s warning about the industrial/military complex. We go to war; they build more planes, tanks, bombs and guns, make fortunes for industry and their leaders. Much of this money is paid to congress in the form of “re-election campaigns” whose beneficiaries then vote the rules that keep the money wheel turning for industry which keeps them in their jobs. It’s like recognizing that the 14th amendment had nothing to do with immigration but everything to do with insuring that former slaves be recognized as citizens of the United States. It’s being used to legalize illegal immigration which benefits the politicians who get the votes of those receiving citizenship as a reward.
The game is rigged by both Republicans and Democrats together and laying the blame or one or the other party is a waste of time and effort. We need term limits for all of congress which will never happen. The bull about the citizens having the power of the vote is about as realistic as thinking that the candidates for higher office get there by the will of the people. The political parties make sure that no one rises to the top of the parties that hasn’t proven that they are game players with the establishment.

Our country has been invaded by foreign hoards, true most were unarmed, but they came day and night like ants. Most came seeking better paying jobs and to send money back to their own countries. However the majority did not come here as my wife’s grandparents did to become Americans, they wished to retain their own national identity. Instead of securing our borders, our politicians were bought by those who wished to exploit the invaders for cheap, expendable labor.
Other nations protect their borders, even Mexico who has criticized us, puts troops on their southern borders to keep out invaders from Central America. And now our politicians from both parties are ready to wave the white flag of surrender in order to pander for votes. The same politicians who took an oath to defend the nation from enemies both foreign and from within! Never did I think that I’d live to see the day, that this nation who has been too strong to conquer militarily, would be surrendered by our own “leaders” in the name of the politically correct term; compassion!
Traitors! Everyone! Patriotic? Not one of them! Shame on everyone of the traitors and sellouts!

Veva, I am a follower of NumbersUSA who is vehemently opposed to illegal immigration. I read somewhere above that they had caved and were now supporting immigration (at least that’s what I took it to say).

I read an article just a few hours ago that said that Republicans are caving because they think that will get them the Hispanic vote and the mention of NumbersUSA was there, but not in support of illegal immigration. I can’t find the article again or I would post the URL. At least that’s the way I read the article but I know that at least 50% of what we read on the web is written by hairy old men in their shorts sitting behind the computer in their basement trying to see how big some bull they write will get.

My experience is that Numbers USA is a stand up organization that even has a foot note saying that they realize that some don’t have a lot of money and they do not want anyone living on limited means to donate. Not a week goes by that we are not notified of a new fax (free to send through their site) to send to your Senators or Representative letting them know that what they are doing isn’t approved off. We also get a chance to send faxes to our politicos thanking them for their support.

I don’t think I am violating some rule or regulation by asking people to take a look at it. It’s free, so it can’t hurt. It might irk some, but it won’t hurt them to take a look-see. For myself I oppose illegal immigraton because it’s against the law and because they use our resources without having done anything to deserve them (schools, jobs, hospitals and on and on). The cost to the taxpayers is estimated to be $55,000/year that we cannot afford. I could get behind them serving honorably in our military, have no criminal record and learning to speak and understand English clearly. Then we can talk about amnesty, but an earned amnesty, not a give away for votes I can’t blame them for wanting to come here and I question seriously that we need them in our labor force, but if they pay some dues and support of our country, let’s talk.
