Limbaugh: The GOP - A Most Unpopular Majority Party

By David Limbaugh

Isn't it tragically ironic that the man who rode the perfect storm into public office on the horse of national unity has now perfected the politics of division so spectacularly that he won re-election despite the worst record in decades?

For when you sift through the rubble from the Republican Party's 2012 nuclear catastrophe, you find consistent clues pointing to a simple explanation: We lost because Barack Obama convinced enough voters that he cares more about people than Mitt Romney, a rich white guy who is contemptuous of the poor, women, blacks and seniors. Never mind results; Obama cares and Republicans don't.

In his fundamentally transformed America, Obama has replaced "e pluribus unum" with "us against them."

So before the GOP rewrites its party platform, it better study the tricks its community organizer opponents used so successfully against it. Before it surrenders to the conclusion that its policies are unpopular, it might contemplate a simpler explanation: The voters neither rejected our policies, nor endorsed Obama's failed record. Rather, they bought into Obama's lies and distortions.

For example, a friend told me his retired, intelligent mother-in-law voted for Obama because she believed Romney didn't care about her as a woman and a member of the "47 percent" and would take away her Social Security benefits. I kid you not.

Common threads connect these rationales: They are all grounded in fear, they are products of Obama's divisive politics, and they are completely untrue.

While Romney took the high ground and presented a substantive critique of Obama's failed record and offered his own concrete solutions, Obama mostly ignored policy, refused to put forward his own agenda, grossly mischaracterized Romney's agenda, blamed his predecessor, demonized Romney and worked up various identity groups into a frenzy with the politics of fear and division.

We are headed inexorably toward financial collapse because of overspending, especially on entitlements, and Obama won't even suit up for the game. He's on the sidelines mocking those competing their hearts out in trying to save this nation. To this day, he has not presented the first syllable of a plan to reform entitlements, which he casually referred to as recently as last week as "long-term impediments to growth."

No, they are not merely long term, and growth is not the only thing they will impede. We now begin every fiscal year in the hole some $250 billion, the figure by which our entitlement layouts and interest on the debt exceed our revenues, before we spend a dime of discretionary spending. This is a real, present problem, and Obama is denying it even exists.

The dirty little secret -- and it apparently remained a secret to millions -- is that under the Romney-Ryan plan, seniors, and everyone else, would have received their "entitlement" benefits. Under Obama, they very well may not, because those programs, and the nation along with them, are going bankrupt.

When you also consider exit polling data showing that people were duped into believing the anemic economy was still George W. Bush's fault, it's clear that Obama's despicable strategy of deceit, slander and divisiveness worked. He dedicated millions to depicting Romney as a felon who reveled in killing and firing people, exporting American jobs and illegalizing contraceptives, and as one who didn't care about the poor or minorities and would rob seniors of their government retirement, and the voters bought it.

So before the GOP panics into believing the country is irreversibly changed and reordering its priorities or abandoning time-tested conservative principles, it might reconsider its messaging techniques and strategies. It might want to reevaluate its approach to so-called negative campaigning and how to respond to Democratic lies. Indeed, it's time to jettison its pristine approach, take the gloves off and warn the people in bold, stark terms about the hellish nightmare that awaits them under Democratic policies.

It is sobering to realize that a substantial majority probably agrees with us, but there is so much misinformation and propaganda in the air that they can't see through the fog.

Surely there is a way to figure out how to win the votes of people who actually agree with us but have been led to believe they don't. Surely there is a way to convince seniors of the truth: that Romney's plan would have preserved their benefits, while Obama's greatly jeopardizes them. And, yes, surely there is a way -- somehow, someday -- to convince Hispanics and even the black community that we are not ogres who don't care about them, and that our party actually stands for policies that many of them prefer.

Republicans must learn how to level the playing field by discrediting and neutralizing Democratic propaganda before the GOP can even begin to sell its superior ideas.

If we can't figure out how to win elections when the majority of the electorate actually agrees with us, demographics and the rest are academic anyway.

While I fully agree with this assessment I am not sure what the Republican party could have done to counteract it. Every time Romney opened his mouth the press skewed his words to further promote their agenda. The only way around all this was to research the truth and think independently, something that I am finding very few people are either unwilling or unable to do. By election time many, even otherwise intelligent people, were so caught up in this ridiculous class envy that logic was replaced with emotion to the point that there was no rational thinking any more.

We need to demonize the press like Newt did every time they tried something. We need to study everyone that may go after our candidates and be prepared to answer back. Study Alinsky and do as Obama did.

We also need to talk to the people in language they understand. Our candidates cannot talk in common language. Our candidates need to say about the economy: “If you were in debt would you spend more money to get out of debt or would you take a 2nd job and quit spending so much.” Relate to the people.

Almost none of the liberals even bothered to seek info other than what the MSM spewed out and they to this day (and forever) still don’t know the truth. Unfortunately the voting of the most important political postion in the world was for most uninformed a popularity contest. None of these people even bothered about anything other that what the ”press” said. Shows just how ignorant the majority are, sounds like an election in the Chicago area where one candidate died just before the election (about one week, too late to remove his name) and guess what, HE WON! What an informed electorate. But what can we expect when our schools and media are TOTALLY LIBERAL?

What gets me is how is it that Americans, especially on the Right, assume that Mr O was duly elected? Voter fraud gone mad all over, and we are looking into rebranding? ***? Amnesty for Illegals? Come ON!
In 2008, we had fireman at unionized firestation report that he had a voting machine given to him to put in a closet til election night. He then brought it in the county clerk’s office so that the votes on it could be counted. How many were done that way in 2008? How many unionized firestations turned in fully tallied voting machines Nov. 2?
We see counties with about twice as many votes as registered voters! Ballot stuffing all over! Our troops overseas, thousands of them, never got their vote counted, due to an unexplained plane crash loaded with absentee ballots! Who the HELL thinks we actually had a fair election? Michael Moore?

I agree – his enemy is the press. The press has continued to
support Obama in every way. It comments about negative items for half a second and back we go to “how good Michelle looks in that dress”.
When our press is scared to death of OBAMA, that says that we no longer has freedom of press in this country

Ronald Reagan had a press that was against him just as much as Romney. The difference was that Reagan believed in conservatism more than anyone we currently have in the party. Romney was a moderate and way too nice a guy to fight Obama the way he needed to. His advisors believed the, “Obama’s a nice guy, his policies just don’t work” line would work for him. It didn’t. Conservatism works. We need a representative who truly believes in it and can explain it to the masses. The GOP establishment is doing their darndest to keep those people out of the running for POTUS. (Then again, the GOP establishment gave us Ford over Reagan and gave Jimmy Carter his one term.)

Do we have a big chunk of people too dependent on entitlements to ever vote for smaller government? Sure, but I am not ready to believe that those people represent the majority.

I’m an oldster and can remember another government that ran on divide and conquer and propaganda. Just a few years ago memory of the “other government” would have killed any party using these tactics. But memories fade. And yes, that “other government” was the Third Reich of Germany. If Axelrod were to shave the corners off his mustache, he’d look like his mentor.

lol! are you just noticing that we no longer have freedom of press! It’s been that way for as long as I can remember, and I’m now in my 50′s. Look out, their trying everything they can to get the internet closed down now, cause it’s the only uncensored truth we have left. And, Bobinms, you are right, intimidation, illegal voting, threatening lives and even killing of those who oppose them, controlling media to tell lies and cover-up all their evil wrong-doings from here as well as around the globe, taking over our conservative teachings in the schools and highjacking our children’s minds, teaching us to fear speaking out against them, executive orders that take away our constitutional rights, and let me also add the fact that we have been lied to for several centuries about our rights as sovereign beings in the land of America. Our government is a corporation and not our ruler, the state government has our rights to trump all that the government hands to us. And our courts have pledged oaths to England, they are foreign courts, working under a foreign set of laws. Our law was, and will always be “public law” as set in stone by our Constitution and Bill of Rights. These courts work under “Maritime law”. See Tammy Pepperman on youtube.com. But, alas, I also see that most of my fellow Americans will not care about their destiny until they are sitting on the curb, no home, no job, no food, and the government and all the fat cats that pad their pockets on our slavery have taken it all away and made them beg in the streets. That will be our destiny. To sad. Hitler will be proud of the elitist then!

I guess the only way Romney could have won, would have been to refute everything that was said. He could have revealed so many of the illegal and underhanded things Obama had done;the war in Libya without congressional consent, Benghazi, Fast & Furious etc., in as down and dirty a manner as Obama. Only in Romney’s case it would have been the truth. It really is sad that this is the future of elections from here on out.

We also cannot ignore the fact that a large segment of the population – whites included – view the GOP as the “white party” and they will never vote Republican – regardless of who the opponent is or what his record is. To them, it’s “payback time”. It is an ugly, repulsive aspect of our current culture that cannot be explained with “economic analysis” or any other lofty, cranial pursuit. I have no remedy, but ignoring it will get us no closer to resolution.

“Whites” elected Obama. But the party of Mia Love, Vernon Parker, Allen West, Herman Cain, Clarence Thomas, etc. etc. is hardly the “party of whites.” But I agree that this is an image that the leftwing media has worked overtime to instill in the minds of many Americans.

But it’s the DEMOCRATS who have a 150 year history of racism. The KKK has always been a Democrat group. The Democrats even elected over and over a KKK Grand Dragon to Congress.

This was in no way a repudiation of Republicans or conservative ideology. It was a “better the devil you know” vote.

And, contrary to popular opinion, Romney did not run against Obama…he ran against THE MEDIA. The media won.

The media pulled out all the stops to smear Romney and protect Obama. We have to face the fact that the average American doesn’t care for politics at all. They consider themselves to be “informed” if they watch the 6 o’clock news every night. And when that “news” is denigrating Romney and promoting Obama, what opinions do you think they’re going to form?

If the media had treated Obama the way that they treated Romney, Romney would have won in a landslide. Remember when America got its first unflitered view of Romney in the first debate? His approval soared. The rest of the time, they only got the media’s view.

What’s the solution? Well, it’s not to turn the GOP int Democrat-Lite. But I don’t know how we can turn the media from being little more than a leftwing propaganda machine.

The problem lies not with the GOP, it lies with the lying media.

    I would tend to disagree

Mainly, because some individuals, myself included, have our loyalty and allegiance to the country rather than a party.

Democrats promise to spend, and pander to demographic groups, so don’t vote for them

Republicans promise to cut taxes, balance budgets by increased revenue, so vote for them, but then they spend and pander to demographic groups

And since I am not in any of the demographics groups either party panders to, I am left wondering, as are many Americans, not only who I should support, but who I should not, the Democrats who promise to steal from me, or the Republicans who promise they won’t then do.

And how do the Republicans steal from me?

They change credit laws to favor the creditor at the expense of the borrower, change bankruptcy laws to make it harder, unless the failure is with one of the creditors who got to big to fail from favored credit laws then we have to dig into our pocket to bail them out.

    Great game

And I would say, if the Republicans did not betray the interest of those whom voted for them they might be able to make a convincing case this really is Obama’s fault, until then those with independent minds are left hoping the Republican party will make their words their actions

Of course, I could just say things to make everyone feel good, but I want to see the country prospering again, and that takes being honest

The Republican party needs to do some house cleaning to get back their credibility

What we have here is lies, and more lies, stacked on top of more lies. There is no difference between demo’s and repub’s! They are all working for the puppet masters. Didn’t Romney go to the Builderburg meetings in the spring of this year in Virginia? Yes, and he was informed at that meeting of what his role should be. If we truly care about our country, then we need to clean some house and get all these fat cats out of office and start over with honest, country loving, people who share our values, and walk the walk, not just say what they can to get into office and then get paid off by fast money and lots of it! House cleaning is the answer! Smaller government, honest, God loving, lovers of our country and it’s people, that’s what we need. And while we’re at it….shut down all those agencies that are turning against us….EPA, FDA, Homeland Sec, the list goes on and on…..

“For example, a friend told me his retired, intelligent mother-in-law voted for Obama because she believed Romney didn’t care about her as a woman and a member of the “47 percent” and would take away her Social Security benefits. I kid you not.”

“The dirty little secret — and it apparently remained a secret to millions — is that under the Romney-Ryan plan, seniors, and everyone else, would have received their “entitlement” benefits. Under Obama, they very well may not, because those programs, and the nation along with them, are going bankrupt.”

I don’t suppose anyone but “I” see the incongruity of these two statments. Romney NOR Ryan NOR the GOP every approached forcefully to the retired people – they believed apparently they could just say it once, but it on the website and that took care of that. Many, and perhaps MOST seniors are not on the computer like the younger generations – and so, my conclusion – you didn’t tell them at all. The same way they never went after the college vote, nor did they go for the women’s vote. It was ALL about rich people getting richer – that’s what it sounded like to me. NOT ONE TIME did I hear about what Romney would do positive – like allow the Canada Pipeline which purportedly would put 20,000 people to work as well as get our oil from our “friendly” neighbors instead of Venezuela, and the Islamic countries that despise us. Not once did he ATTACK the extra-constitutional Czars and promise their immediate demise.

My other personal opinion – Obama deliberately “lost” the first debate, then he was even on the next one, and the one that counted – he won handily. While Biden simply made fun of Ryan during their whole “debate”.

The GOP is a marginal party now – not a major one. They have become the right wing of the progressive Party that is controlled by the left wing. The GOP is NOT conservative. The “conservatives”, the Tea Party, and the Libertarians keep clinging to the Republicans because they cannot organize another party that will STAND for their Constitutional Conservative ideology. And so while the Democrat Party is made up of disparate groups, each kept in its separate “binder” so they can be controlled and used individually, the Republican Party simply repudiates all but those establishment progressive Republicans. They don’t really want the right – the “Christians”, nor do they want the Tea Party, the libertarians they have because there is no where else for them to go.

I heard Romney support the Canadian Pipeline! But I think you are missing the point. The reason Obama wasn’t prepared for the first debate, is because he knew that the election was already in the bag for him. His counselors knew that, too, but they knew that he better have a better performance in the following debates, or after he won the election, everyone would be wondering how the hell he won. THE ELECTION WAS RIGGED! It was setup years ago! The voting machines are programmed to switch votes. Some voting machines were tallied and stored in closets at unionized firestations around the country. A union steward would hide them til election night and then deliver them for the votes on them to be counted. The election is a farce! Totally bogus! Get rid of any electronics in the voting process and have both parties represented in the manual counting! It’s the ONLY way to guarantee free and fair elections!

The Republicans have been always a party of gentlemen and ladies which comes off as the party of wimps. They let the Democrats walk all over them; let them control the narrative of what is true. They let the lie of political correctness continue and destroy this country because they want to be loved. It is about time that Republicans to roll up their sleeves and get nasty; the Democrats are thugs and pervs. We don’t have to lie; but, we should fight back. We shouldn’t be afraid to call names; we all know that Democrats are racist. Don’t be afraid to call them what they truly are because Republicans don’t want to offend. Obama will obtain needed revenues by confiscation of private property, private income, private industry and private capital. This will become the property of the Elected Assembly of State (private ownership will no longer be allowed). At first they will give the impression the confiscation is legitimate. Then as it becomes more common place, brazenly stolen but taken for the People.
This is in the Resolution for setting up Community Organizers, they wrote in Dec 1968 and accepted and passed in 1969.
I may seem like a broken record but it needs to be realized by the people of the USA. Not a fantasy but but first hand factual knowledge. He is not doing this by his lonesome. He came into this plan years afterward when it was already established and rolling forward.
Think about it! When did our history portrayal begin to have it’s credibility destroyed in the New Left written and spoken word?

Obama will obtain? It’s actually been happening for quite some time now. Did you know that what you think is your property is actually not yours. You have a land title to it,your name is on it, but you can not own it outright, and you can not possess it as yours solely. That would take a “land patent” and the state will not give you one. Obama is fixin to raise our taxes. The banks are flat out stealing our money. Our country is going to hell in a hand basket. The fed reserve is printing money like crazy and there’s no tomorrow and giving it to the banks. They are turning around and buying up all the land and bankruptcies that they caused homeowners to loose. Rothchilds will soon own our whole country and it’s all over but the crying. We need to wake up and do something here.

Several years ago I read a book by Terry Goodkind Titled “Wizards First Rule.” The book revealed that the wizards first rule is “People are stupid, and will believe any lie because either they are afraid that it is true, or they want it to be true.
Obama was able to use this principle to smear Romney into n unelectable monster.
The only way to contradict such lies is with the truth. During the debates I saw several points where Romney could have used Reagans “There You Go Again” line as an opening to correct an Obama lie, but he let the opportunity slip his grasp.
The republican party needs someone who is Well Spoken, Articulate, Likeable, Forceful, Willing to contradict lies with the truth, and a True Gentile Man. Yes I am saying that we need to either find or create another Reagan.
The republican party also needs to find true conservative ways to deal with the hot button issues facing the country. Instead of being the party of “NO”, No Entitlements, No Amnesty, No Gay Marriage, Etc. We have to find ways to include people who share at least some of our values. On illegal immigration Perhaps a system could be put in place where applicants for amnesty would have to submit evidence that they are assets rather than liabilities to society in order to be granted said amnesty.

From day one Obama has been groomed for this position he holds and from day one he has been nothing but a bully and a liar to get to the top. Even as a wanna be Senator from Illinois he has incorporated less than desirable tactics to take out his opposition in anything but a fair fight. His policies and agenda seem to take a back seat to his slander and bully campaigns. He has the innate ability, with help from the media of course,to step around his failed leadership role no matter what office he has held and move forward with more lies and deceit leaving an obvious path of carnage and broken promises in his wake. The American public has been brain washed once again to beleive that OBama has their best interests in mind. Maybe when the entitlements stop becasue there is no money left to give and unemployment hits 20% because small businesses are handcuffed with so many regulations they cannot hire employees any longer, we might see people opening their eyes to the problem at hand. Until the lies and propaganda start to effect the lives of the people extensively that voted for OBama we will not see any changes in the forseeable near future. When Obamas lies begin to effect the entitlement crowd and senior citizens as well as seeing higher taxes for the middle class to cover the burden of our straining economy and debt I think America will start to realize maybe this man acting as our president is in fact the liar many made him out to be. It really stinks that our country is going to have to suffer so much before this realization dawns upon the people of this country.

David, It takes the hand of providence to win an election fair and square. I would rather see the conservatives lose than to engage in the shameful actions the democrats have slung onto the electorate of our great nation. The founders and our Constitution consists of statements that support honesty, integrity, high morals, hard work and responsibiliity and without using that as a framework to engage in any election, there can never be a guarantee that it will be an honest election. To give fre stuff o voters and to pander to radical groups who are breaking the law of the land is a gross breakdown of human decency and responsibility. The question is, hopw do you combat bad behavior when it is done by those in govt who think they are above the law and by the electorate who think their life revolves around material things which are not something they have skin in the game for. I would rather see our congressional representatives remain honest and responsible even if it means we all go down with the Titanic. The actions of this administration are only prolonging the disaster.

Let’s hope that does not become a “tragedy.”
When I walked into my voting place to cast my ballot there was a small line of other citizens. One of the officials; “Judges,” was running her mouth to all who could hear that Mitt Romney owned Goldman Sachs. Probably an illegal act…I asked her, so that all could hear, where she had read that. Her reply was that some “voter” had told her. I set her and all others who cared straight and mumbled to myself another Moron–Romey may wish he owned that joint, and the company they own that makes all of the voting machines in America.

Goldman Sachs is Obama’s baby. He has 7 ex-Goldman Sachs employees working in his administration

Really informed and thoughtful, intelligent reasons for voting for someone to run your country. America truly has come down in the world of education.

I agree that the Republicans must take off their gloves and fight back. The problem is that now there are all these code words that imply racism. The latest is the word “incompetent.” When a couple of republican senators called Susan Rice incompetent for her handling of the Benghazi scandal, the word incompetent was deemed racist. These code words are also perpetuated by the main stream media and believed by the sheeples who would believe anything they read or hear by msm. So, if the republicans were to warn the citizens of the “hellish nightmare that awaits them under Democratic policies,” I’m sure that the new code word will be that “policies” is racist and that the republicans are intolerant.

NObama has four more years to continue his destruction of our Country. He has gone forward on Lies, Deceit, and even I believe, a tainted vote.
He has built his whole flawed, and badly run first term on convincing people that others were at fault, yet he took the job telling everyone he was the one who could bring us out of the situation we were in, and reverse the trend. He has actually done nothing more than double down on the problems we were facing, by his reckless spending, and laying bets on Companies with already failed performances, but good donation tactics for his campaign.
He has done nothing other than take a beginning problem, and turn it into a major one. He has lied, cheated, and blamed his way into re-election, even though his whole term was nothing but a severe letdown, and feeding the fires of a already heated situation.
Well, since many seemed to think he told the truth when he blamed the economy on others, and have ignored what he has actually done, which is to throw our Country’s economy under the bus, it will show up in this upcoming term, but it will then be too late for them to see the drastic mistake they have made.
We will be so deeply in debt, and running at a incredible speed toward the point of no return, that our brakes will not be able to stand the heavy load, and will allow us to plunge over the cliff.
His agenda is clear to any who even take the time to read between the lines, the small print, and tune in to the ultra fast message being delivered, said so quickly as to hope much of what is said is not heard, or is misunderstood.
we, like it or not, are stuck with this nightmare for at least 4 more years, unless someone gets some backbone, and impeaches him or, much better yet, proves without a shadow of a doubt, that he is not eligible to hold the office of President. This action would undue all he has done as far as his signing, and pushing through of, things contrary to the will of we the people. Every bill he has passed, or piece of paper signed, would be null and void.
To simply impeach him would recognize that he was President, just a bad one. Proving him ineligible to hold the office, would result in his decisions, signings, etc, being voided.

Would love to see him impeached and all of our wishes to get him out of office come true. Would love to be able to prove him ineligible to hold office. However, how do you propose we do that? A lot of people would be interested in knowing exactly what we could do to accomplish this feat.

    coffeelover,
I so wish I had all the answers to the questions. I wish that we had at least taken both branches, House and Congress and that we had had this advantage, which would have made it quite possible with minimal effort.
I was merely wistfully/Wishfully mentioning that one of the two solutions would be nice if it could be carried through successfully.
Congress could pull off the impeachment, if they had enough votes from backbone Demoncrats to push it through, as it would take a majority of votes from both parties.
As for the kicking him out of office on grounds he is not eligible to be President, it will take a person or persons, with deep pockets, and a strong will to succeed. There is much out there which pretty much proves he is not eligible to be President, but the right person or persons have to make it a high priority, and a risky venture, to go after him on those grounds.
It has been proven that the long form Birth Certificate he finally came up with after fighting having to show it since he was elected, is a fake, and layered together in Photoshop manner. It has been stated multiple times that his Social Security card belongs to a long dead individual, however, no one has been able to get him to bring it out and show it publicly. He had ALL of his personal, and academic records sealed as soon as possible after he was sworn in. Who would do this, especially such a public figure, if they were not hiding something really big?. Every other President had their lives open to public scrutiny, and they had nothing they could really hide, but this guy is somehow invisible to us, and he is our Leader/President. Why does he need to hide from us?. Because he has so so much he wants to keep hidden from us, such as his Muslim upbringing, and His Communistic acquaintances/mentors. He is the most invisible figure ever, in our History, who holds a high office of authority. We let him be our President, without so much as even doing a simple background check on him, and there is so much of his past which disqualifies him from being our President, Leader, and the one who makes our decisions for us.
Either or could be done to him, but it will take the right people, with enough money to fight him in court, and with the extreme backbone necessary to actually take on the President of the United States, dragging him through the mud. This is the only way we can keep our Country, as he is intent upon it’s total destruction. It is possible, although not highly probable, to take him down legally, but it will take a lot of money, intestinal fortitude, heart and grit to make it happen. This is the best answer I can give you for your question(s).
