Limbaugh: On the Debates

By David Limbaugh

Mitt Romney must use the debates to spotlight President Obama's disastrous record -- with no mercy.

Let's just consider a few major points Romney must make on domestic issues.

Obama's record and his agenda for a second term are a target-rich environment. Unless the majority of voting Americans have decided to embrace Obama's vision of a fundamentally changed America -- an America that barely resembles the freest, most prosperous and mightiest land in world history that we have come to adore -- then Obama will experience a crushing defeat in November.

Indeed, Romney should be unafraid to point out that Obama's thinking is out of step with the American idea. He should demand that Obama explain why he has so little confidence in the private sector and free markets to generate economic growth.

Romney mustn't dare understate his case; he cannot pull any punches in describing the gravity of our national predicament and in drawing the sharpest contrast between his agenda and Obama's record and plans for the next four years.

I am convinced that for a number of reasons, far too many Americans don't realize how damaging Obama's policies have been and how dangerous his continued presidency would be for the future of this nation.

Romney must not let Obama get away with claiming that he and other Republicans don't care about minorities or the poor -- and explain that his pro-growth message is for all Americans, irrespective of race, gender or one's income level.

Romney must turn that malicious charge right around on Obama, pointing out that he's the one who has been engaging in the politics of division and demonizing groups and sectors of our society. If Obama were truly dedicated to lifting up minorities and lower-income groups, he would be inspiring them with a message of hope and opportunity rather than promising them more government assistance, more food stamps and more cellphones.

Romney must be unafraid to point out that there is nothing compassionate about policies that harm the economy, diminish people's opportunities to work and become self-sufficient, and saddle future generations with crushing debt.

He must very clearly tie Obama and his policies to our current economic condition and note that it is irresponsible and unprecedented for any president to refuse to accept responsibility for his own policies.

Romney must show that we are destined for financial ruin if we don't change course and that Obama has given every indication he would not change course. When Romney is finished making his case, there should be no question in the voters' minds that he believes it is urgent that Obama be defeated.

This isn't rocket science. Romney should prove that Obama is the worst spender in the nation's history and ridicule Obama's claim that he is the most frugal president in the past 60 years.

Romney should tell the voters that though we are on a collision course for a Grecian-style financial catastrophe, our course is eminently correctable and that he and Paul Ryan have concrete workable plans to bring our budget into long-term solvency and restructure entitlements in a way that would preserve Medicare, protect those who are 55 or older and enhance options for those who are younger.

It's important that Romney take the offensive here and say that Obama has been disingenuous in telling the voters that Romney's plan would destroy, rather than save, Medicare. He must stress that it is Obama's policies that are guaranteed to destroy Medicare, because everyone acknowledges that unless the program is restructured, it will become insolvent. Yet Obama has not only obstructed the Republicans' realistic plans to reform entitlements and bring spending under control but also refused to come up with any plan on his own -- ever.

Nor must Romney allow Obama to persist with the lies that President George W. Bush's "two wars and tax cuts for the wealthy" caused our exploding deficits and debt. The tax cuts did not diminish revenue. Our problem is spending, and Obama has grown the debt at significantly more than double the rate of President Bush. Obama will have added almost $6 trillion to the debt in his first four years, compared with Bush's $5 trillion in eight years, which was plenty bad enough.

Romney must relentlessly press Obama on why he has been so cynically casual about his accumulation of debt and our impending financial train wreck. He must be explicit that an Obama second term would necessarily give us more of the same because he refuses to back away from reckless spending packages -- his jobs bill, his incessant demand for high-speed rail and greater infrastructure expenditures, his commitment to seemingly unlimited Solyndra-like projects, and his own budgets, which project deficits averaging $1 trillion a year in perpetuity.

Next, there are the minor matters of Obamacare, Obama's upcoming record tax hikes, his war on domestic energy and business, and his egregious foreign policy -- for starters.

Yep, that’s what he must do. Too bad we haven’t seen a lot of it from him so far. Hopefully he has been saving it for a final mighty push. Not too optimistic though. Seems like the republicans are devolving into some sort of petrified, voiceless race, unable (or unwilling) to take a stand against those intent on bringing about the total annihilation of our great country as we know it.

    Romney in the debates must remove the veil from Obama’s promise of hope and change to reveal the failure that it is. The imaginary dreams of a future that when the future arrives, the hope promised never arrives with it, and that dreams hoped for without the work and sacrifice of the dreamer himself but only the redistributed contributions of others are but castles in the air with no foundation. Romney must promise to build the actual foundations so the arrival of the dream can actually arrive with the future when it comes. We have all seen Obama’s foundationless ideological results in action that produce only division and confusion. Time to change to work in the present to build real foundations new castles, not redistribution of the formerly built parapets of past American democracy that only weakens that which was previously built till the entire structure crumbles for lack of contribution. Obama’s leadership foolishly offers only the following;

“What’s important is promising something to the people, not actually keeping those promises. . . . The people have always lived on hope alone.”
    Hermann Broch

GIVE ME RESULTS OR GIVE ME NOTHING, I’M SICK AND TIRED OF YOUR PROMISES!

“Advice is judged by results, not by intentions.” –
    — Marcus Tullius Cicero

“If you pursue good with labor, the labor passes away but the good remains; if you pursue evil with pleasure, the pleasure passes away and the evil remains.”

Obama’s Socialist pleasure offer of the immediate gratification has worked it’s non-productive evil far too long in America. Time for the people of labor to begin the rebuilding of what the people of the promise can never produce, which are actual results. Like John Milton said in Paradise lost ” The road to hell is paved with good intentions”,,,,,,this is the only road Obama and the Democrats offer us to move forward on. Four more years of decline.

Romney offers the labor, Obama just the pleasure so that after 4 years of his leadrrship the evil still remains. All he offers now is the price of more pain tomorrow with the immediate gratification of the campaign pleaures he offers today before this election. Americans must have a death wish to vote him back in. We saw this paradigm before,,,listen, watch, learn and survive by voting him and his politics of seduction out along with the party of Progressive panderers.

Romney has everything on his side – Obama has nothing he can truthfully brag about (except Osama and GM – LOL) and everything to minimize, cover up or lie about. Actually, GM still owes the taxpayers billions of dollars that they will probably weasel out of paying and the government will “forgive” the loan.

Romney’s biggest problem is that he doesn’t understand Chicago thug style politics and that Mr. Nice Guy won’t finish at all if he doesn’t take off the gloves and fight back. No fancy words, call it like it is, he has an arsenal of corruption and waste by the Obama gang to bring forth at the debate. The mainstream media has ignored most of it, bring it out to the public view and let the heads roll!

I can hardly wait to see Paul Ryan make hash out of Biden!

Just ask him to stop stuttering and to tell the truth whichever is easier for him to do. Then accuse him of being one of the DREAM BUSTERS.

Dream busters are those who destroy the hopes and dreams of others. He and his followers have kept fuel prices high which forced businesses to close and lay off untold millions of folks. He wants to raise taxes which is yet another job killing idea. He also wants to increase restrictive gov, regulations which end more dreams and cause more plant closings. If you are out of business it is probably his fault. However BHO is one of those who goes around saying, “Its he fault, he fault, he fault”. Sometimes it is hard to distinguish who is who…is it BHO, or his Donkey mascot braying into the wind, “Its he fault, he fault, he fault!”

It is time to send home the He Fault Man and replace the Empty Chair with someone who will occupy it and do the job you hired them to do…I am that man. Hire me and I will bring America back. I will bring your dreams back and help you make them come true!

Excellent, David, and right on target. I shake my head in amazement when I see that anyone is actually considering voting for obama. How could that be, with his abysmal record on all fronts? Then I realize that it is a matter of not being informed. I do not watch or read the MSM, and rely upon the Internet and conservative talk radio for my information. The points that people need to know are deliberately covered up by the MSM, which functions like the arm of the DNC that it is. The hypocrisy of the press that excoriated Bush at every turn but gives obama a pass for the most egregious lies and actions is disgusting, but is the reason most voters simply do not know the truth. Most Americans live in the past, when one could assume that there was not much of a difference between the two parties, and never dream that someone who hates and wants to destroy America could become President. The debates are perhaps the only opportunity Romney will have to make this case to the public, as the press will ignore or misrepresent what he says elsewhere. The debates are live; MSNBC cannot doctor them and the other networks cannot ignore them.

My wife and I attended the Romney campaign event in Denver last night and I would say it was disappointing. Same old stump speech with one sentence thrown in about our flags being burned at embassies worldwide…

We didn’t hear about how gas prices are crushing working Americans and the economy. We didn’t hear about Obama’s proposed budget that is going to collapse America with debt.

All I can say is, Romney needs a new speech writer and a new campaign team.

John Elway introduced Romney, the volume over the loudspeakers was perfect, then Romney takes the microphone and speaks in his whisper voice and they didn’t compensate with added volume which made him sound weak.

We were not the only ones disappointed, we heard other people saying the same thing. Romney is a loyal man and doesn’t want to fire his top advisor, fine, but hire someone with ***** to provide some advice on how to get tough, compare and contrast, and definitely get a new speech writer.

Let the downfall of the Golfer-in-Chief begin! Obummer must face real questions without an earpiece (I trust) and no teleprompter. I agree Romney must go after his failures…but he must tell America what his plan is and how it will benefit the country and all the citizens of this great country.

Obama will go back to blaming Bush, the Republicans and anyone else he can point fingers at as that is all he has. Romney must not take the bait to get into a “who shot Paul” trading session with the fake. Romney must say…”Mr. President your policies are a failure” and here is why!
He needs to say to the people…you deserve better…we all deserve better…our country deserves better and here is how we get there. Talk about pride, growth, support for the truly in need, benefit from what you earn…not what you are given.

Romney must lay out a clear and distinctive difference between the America Obummer is taking us to and the one we were and can be again! Strong, prideful, productive, honorable, passionate, respected and at times…yes…feared.

Sorry for a partial duplicate comment, but I didn’t complete it and accidently posted it.

We did hear about how Obama cares about the poor and middle class though… What the hell? Obama’s policies are crushing the middle class intentionally because as most of us know, Obama and the democrats goal is to get a majority of Americans on government assistance so they can have a majority of poor people that will always vote for democrats and more benefits. I shouldn’t have to say what the end result of that policy is, but we know it has been tried and failed across the world for more than a hundred years; and where is the communist Soviet Union? How is Cuba’s middle class doing? There is no middle class, there are the few percent, politicians and the well connected that are wealthy, and more than 95% of the people are dirt poor! Is that what the hell we want in America?

We did not hear about Obama giving away millions of cell phones in swing states, buying votes with taxpayer dollars. The outlandish promotion of government goodies is unfathomable! Obama will give you a free cell phone and if you can sign up another person for a free government phone, he will give you an additional 250 minutes to your already free 250 minutes, what a deal! You may have also seen the commercials the Obama administration is running to get as many people on food stamps as possible. If Romney’s campaign had people that could actually think, he could have come out swinging after his 47% comment – yes, 47% are on government assistance but Obama’s goal is to get well over 50% on aid so he and the democrats can have a permanent voting majority, voting for more benefits.

All I can say is, Romney needs a new speech writer and a new campaign team.

John Elway introduced Romney, the volume over the loudspeakers was perfect, then Romney takes the microphone and speaks in his whisper voice and they didn’t compensate with added volume which made him sound weak.

I would hope that Mitt would jump all over this concept being pushed by the Democrats and the mainstream media that “this is new normal” as a way of Obama and his willing water carriers supporting his abject failure as President. Mitt should totally dismiss this by stressing that the US was not built on a “status quo” mindset but was consistently driven to be better, more creative, more inventive, more entrepreneurial. The “new normal” is totally counter to what has been the driving force behind the exceptionalism and strong growth of the US.

This one fact should be enough to wake up everyone, but I have heard Obama counter this accusation with the excuse that “things were worse than we thought when we first arrived”, and his supporters began repeating that every time the debt was mentioned.

It is truely very sad that Obama is doing nothing but making denigrating jokes about Romney’s real ideas, covering everything up with ‘millionaires and billionaires’, ‘war against women’ ‘system is rigged’ and other demogogue type hollow phrases to ridicule his opponent.
The media LOVES it, and LAUGHS along, and has apparently no clue on how to debunk all this non-sense. Way more than 47 % of Americans is by now clueless as well, and cannot distinguish Obama’s wild claims and promises from reality.

Imagine three of those wild statements spewed out by Obama in the debate in one sentence. How many minutes would YOU need to debunk that? If anything is rigged, it is the debates, led by liberals, with cover from liberal media, and even the Fox News crowd giving way too much airtime to remain ‘fair and balanced’!
I’ve seen enough of ‘fair and balanced’! If you opponent cheats, then you should not continue to try play fair if even the referees and cheating along with the cheaters!

Don’t blame Romney for this, he has put out plenty of good ideas, and Obama has failed openly at too many fronts.
Romney alone cannot fix this ‘rigged’ system by himself. We ALL need to help out here, and make it clear that Romney is by lightyears a better choice than Obama is.

Yes, McCain was too nice to Obama, and Romney better not be too nice tomorrow, but he gets it, but if he is too harsh, he will be slaughtered by the media again for being overly agressive! Not by you and me, but by the stupid majority!

Romney must learn to see himself as an American Warrior. As President, he will be the Commander-in-Chief of all American Warriors, and must learn to identify with them. Only then will he realize what the Warriors’ Oath “to defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, both foreign and domestic” means. Obama must be defended against and defeated.

I firmly believe one of two things either Romney himself does not care about winning and is much like that wimp mccain…or his campaign advisers worked for, voted for, are still working for, and are still going to vote for bho, and Romney is just too blinded by the forest to see the trees to get rid of thier stupid ***** and get someone in who knows what he or shes doing….. But at this point it may be too late……and just like this same time last election who in the hell thought the nicest wimpiest…..ohhhhh, no this obama is a really good man…said mccain………& Now there is Romney, Mr nice guy, dont get mad, dont say anything bad about bho….dont tell people all the really bad **** he has pulled…..So Im asking who in the hell thought this wimpy, nice, guy was going to beat the most corrupt, lying, cheating, president the United States has ever seen? Or could it have been that the Rebubs on a whole thought this is the only way they could let the dems totally hang themselves, then regain absolute power? Things that make you go Hummmmmm?

Obama is underestimating Romney……and so are a few here. I believe Romney is going to wipe up the floor with Obama in all 3 debates. We have all become too used to people telling us their every move and thought via, Facebook, Twitter and the like. Romney isn’t that kind of guy and probably never will be. There is something to be said for “rockin’ it old school”. Romney plays his cards close to the vest and he’s no idiot when it comes to getting his point across. He knows how to handle himself under pressure, which is a skill Obama sorely lacks. Romney’s abilities to answer questions on the fly is far superior to Obama’s as well. If Obama keeps blaming everyone else during these debates that will further galvanize the people against him because even the 47% is getting tired of his excuses. Romney/Ryan 2012 and 2016

Romney must speak to the people about the people, and how the things that are happening will directly affect them. A philosophical discussion will not win the day.
He must not be Mr. Nice Guy (like John McCain). He must be deadly serious and brutally frank in this debate, with the deceptive liar that he is facing. He must expose Obama to the nation for what he really is, the most radical, anti-American, anti-Christian, divisive and destructive president ever to hold the office. He is a living lie, a Trojan Horse.
If Romney is unwilling or unable to take the battle to Obama, he will most certainly lose the debate. Its time to take off the white gloves Mitt, and get your hands dirty.

I posted the following yesterday on this site under another story. I will do so again today as it is absolutely imperative that Mr. Romney smother Odumbo and leave him breathless!

I keep hearing that Mr. Romney is going to use “zingers” to assault Oblitheringidiot in Wednesday night’s debate. I have news for you Mr. Romney – USE A FULL FRONTAL ASSAULT! I don’t want to hear you comically “assualt” the so called commander-in-chief with one liners; I want you to leave him maimed and in retreat! You have the opportunity – TAKE IT! Odumbo’s foreign policy is in shambles; the economy is in shambles; the job situation is in shambles; our military is being gutted and will be in shambles; entitlements have skyrocketed; the Constitution has been shredded by executive order; and I could go on for some time.

    ATTACK Mr. Romney; ATTACK!

Now is the time to put your mental war paint on….feel all the anger from all the Americans that are sick of bhos **** and that behind you…Now is the time to come out with all guns blazing! Forget mr nice guy show us you can be a Commander In Charge….One that can lead…We dont want a nice, sweet metrosexual…..we want a leader who can kick bhos *** right back to where ever he came from! Heard a radio interview with Romneys wife this morning….how Romney walks up to his debate spot, takes off his watch, then looks down and writes Dad on his paper…as to say, Im here because of you Dad, i want you to be proud of me, ect, ect, ect…. Then he answers his question….finishes and immediatelly seaches her out in the crowd for her approval…was that ok?, was that a good answer? Sooooo there you have it folks….he has been after his fathers & Mama’s approval! Which usually would be a pretty good thing…..but this is war!…..and you have warrior citizens behind you, you need to be pleasing those warrior, charging up those warriors, we are warriors who need a Warrior Command in Charge! Dont you dare show weakness, and dont back down, dont fall for any of the lies that scrawny little lying cheat has to say. And if you must be politically correct…you can say Mr President whenever you open your mouth…we know you are not telling the truth! And Mrs Romney….lighten up on the grip….you can tighten up once you are redecorating the mess bho made of our White House.
