Limbaugh: Team Romney Must Sharpen Their Message

By David Limbaugh

The November elections are a Republican landslide begging to materialize, but will the GOP make it happen? I believe so. I'm not buying these negative polls, but to increase our chances, let's sharpen the message, not dilute it.

A recent Fox News story reports that Romney and Ryan are both beginning to emphasize a bipartisan message rather than sharpen the contrasts between Obama's manifest failures and their plan for America. They must not follow this suicidal path.

Now is not the time for them to go all John McCain on us and downplay what Obama has done or to apologize for their own winning message. In the campaign's homestretch, they must bring more passion and urgency. It's not enough to calmly assure the American people that they'll do better. They must convince them they believe with every fiber of their beings that the nation, as we know it, would not survive four more years of Obama's assault -- that unless Obama is defeated, their children will not enjoy the same America they have enjoyed.

Their message should be: Sure, President Obama inherited a tough economy. But enough already. He knew and stated how bad it was, and he promised that if we implemented his agenda, the economy and debt would vastly improve. He implemented his agenda, yet the economy is still doing terribly, and the debt is dramatically worse. He still refuses to accept responsibility for his failures. He has no new ideas and offers the same failed policies and promises nothing but prolonged malaise if he's re-elected. Under a second Obama term, we'd experience catastrophic financial collapse.

Romney/Ryan rejects the defeatist idea that economic malaise is inevitable. Historically, the worse the recession the stronger the recovery, except with Obama, who has given us the worst recovery in 50 years. Romney/Ryan would implement tax and entitlement reform that would spur economic growth and greatly reduce our deficits and debt.

The shorter version should be: Obama is bearish on America. Under Obama, we'd fail. Romney is bullish on America. Under Romney, we'd get America back.

Millions of Americans abhor what Obama has been doing to the nation they love. Many didn't pay enough attention when he promised to fundamentally transform the nation, but they're paying attention now, and they're horrified and outraged. Most assumed he meant he would advance policies to turn the economy around. They never imagined he would turn the American dream on its head, from "if you work hard in America, you can make something of yourself and succeed" to "the system is rigged such that those who have succeeded haven't earned it ('you didn't build that') and will be forced to give more to others."

Obama is obliterating the promise of equal opportunity for all, exploiting class, racial, gender and ethnic divisions, destroying our domestic energy industry, demonizing business, smothering the private sector, shoving Obamacare down our throats, giving us double-digit actual unemployment, bankrupting the nation and pushing America toward decline.

Romney must make Obama own his failures. For starters, Romney must unpack this horror picture known as the most recent jobs report. Though the nominal unemployment rate went "down" to 8.1 percent, when you factor in those who've quit looking for a job, actual unemployment exceeds 11 percent.

As Mortimer Zuckerman wrote in The Wall Street Journal, 8 million people are no longer counted as unemployed, because they are no longer looking for a job. The economy only added 96,000 jobs last month; the monthly average for 2012 had been 139,000. A staggering 5.2 million have been out of work for at least 27 weeks. Though our population has grown by 31 million since April 2000, we now have fewer people working. Our employment numbers are way worse off than they were when the recession began at the end of 2007.

In addition, millions more are on food stamps and Social Security disability, and millions fewer are paying any federal income taxes in Obama's America.

Obama, in consciously choosing to adopt the Jimmy Carter vision of malaise and resigning himself to America's inevitable decline, has thrown Romney a high-hanging curveball, and Romney must oblige him and knock it out of the park, with an abundant dose of optimistic, winning Reagan conservatism.

Experts are saying that Romney must give more specifics about how he would turn the economy around. Yes, he and Ryan have detailed plans and must communicate them. But it is equally important that they present their competing vision. They must underscore their pride in America and their commitment to the American idea and American exceptionalism. They can and will turn things around. Our best days are still ahead.

Above all, Romney/Ryan must not sell the American people short and assume they can't handle the truth. Hit them between the eyes with it and they'll return you a decisive victory.

The main problem facing Romney-Ryan is not only communicating the far superior vision they stand for, but especially the ever growing group of ‘sheeple’ that vote for socialist ideas because they have been made dependent upon them already.

With the ‘hand-out’ group as large as it has become at close to 50 million on food stamps for example, do you expect many of them to vote Romney-Ryan?
When you promise people all sorts of freebies, they are likely to be cheerful and happy about that, at least for a while, until all freebies have gone, and nothing is left to hand out.
Most Americans, especially freshly indoctrinated younger voters, have not learned to think about long term consequences, as our culture has become one of instant gratification.
Even corporations work mainly for their Wall Street ratings these days.

Let’s hope that it’s not too late, and that Romney-Ryan can still pull it off, but they are fighting an upstream battle here. We desperately need Romney, not just to win this election, but to restore our country by changing back our culture to a much healthier one!

Romney is also handicapped by the fact that he is using McCain’s campaign staff and they have swallowed the MSM’s Kool-aid that undecided voters “hate negative ads” and thus are scared to death of alienating them. Telling the truth about Obummer’s failed policies and detaining how these policies were failures and how they will be continued if Obummer gets reelected is not negative campaigning. He needs to go on the attack instead of continuing his campaign staff’s “niceness” approach, which will get him defeated as it got McCain defeated in 2008.

Voice of Reason, you are correct. We saw what happened to McCain with this approach. If it doesn’t work this time there many not be a next and if there is a next the people with money sitting in first class need to join the people with votes in the Tea Party. So for the people with money (RHINOs) have frequently taken the my way or the highway approach. We saw it in the primaries. Mitt is a good man and a good candidate that we should support.

The difference between Romney and McCain is the Saem as the difference between Romney and Obama. WHen the economic poop hit the fan Obama and McCain, Neither one of which knew a tinker’s diddly about the Economy, both suspended their campaigns and fled to the safety of Washington DC. Broken Economies Like Broken Companies are the kinds of Challenges that Romney dreams about and gravitates toward. It’s is his mother’s milk unlike Obama who when in trouble just hides behind the skirts of his Lactating Liberal women. Like Scarlet Letter Johansson, Evil Vain Gloria, and Sandra Fluke worm.

We ARE all in this together and Romney is the only one who gets it. If the American citizens flying in the middle or the back of the plane don’t join those Rich in first Class to rush the Muslim educated socialist economic terrorist and destroyer of our private property, who now flies our American economy into buildings, it will be 911 all over again for our ship of state. Muslim educated Obama, like Mohammed Atta learned very well how to have his candidacy take off in the 2008 election. Problem is that like Mohammed Atta, nobody asked him if he was ever interested in or learned the capability a safe landing. HELLO! Time to seal and seal team his 2012 candidacy!

If Obama’s and the Democrat’s morals and failed policies became any more elastic you could hear the snap of their garters a mile away?

I’m worried that if Obozo is reelected in 2012 there won’t be a 2016. The drive to repeal the 22nd amendment will begin immediately, in fact it already has. There will be a “groundswell” attempting to crown Obozo for life and he is making so many people dependent on the government that he will have the majority necessary to do it.

Obozo’s math doesn’t pencil out. You could tax America’s corporations and America’s wealthiest individuals 100 percent and still have no where near the money necessary to pay for Obozo’s brand of socialism. But that doesn’t matter to Obozo. All the Jerk-in-Chief cares about is making sure those who have worked to be successful don’t get to enjoy it.

This is ridiculous. Romney should fire every advisor who was connected to the losing John McCain campaign. They are advising him on how to lose. He should seek out people from the Tea Party and ask them to provide him with the right messages. First of all, he should not say that Obama inherited a bad economy. Stop with the mealy-mouthing. Obama did not inherit it; he and Bill Clinton and the Democrats caused it. Obama was part of the original lawsuit that laid the groundwork for the subprime fiasco. You have to hang the subprime fiasco around the necks of the Democrats especially Obama and make them wear it and declare that these, not Republican or capitalist, are the policies that caused our economy to collapse and Obama is offering more of the same re-distributionist policies for the entire economy. You can’t win unless you tell the truth and to say Obama inherited the bad economy is to say that the Republicans caused it. Don’t you see that is a loser? Wake up…you’re going to lose if you don’t tell the truth.

In the eyes of the right and the left there is belief that both sides have a lock on the truth. Therefore the message Romney has to get out is not who’s telling the truth for the other side believes the same thing. What Romney has to pound out is that he is was and always will be a far superior leader and choice than Obama.

The Constitution is Faltering and Romney needs to play ‘Hard Ball’ – like the song “Put me in Coach”

Also, you have to destroy the myth that Obama has saved the economy or stopped the decline. This is impossible to prove and cannot be true. Obama claims he kept the economy from sinking further. But there is nothing that he did that spurred new economic activity. In fact, he prolonged the recovery. Since we know that the financial crisis was caused by government, doing nothing would have enabled business executives to mitigate the damage done by government and rescue their companies by providing better services to customers and hiring the right people. The economy would have recovered rather quickly if Obama had done nothing. By spreading out the damage through TARP and the bailouts, all American companies and citizens suffered by being forced to pay for the government “solutions” which is what killed the recovery. You have to lay the problems around their necks with forceful arguments that resonate. People want answers not mealy-mouthing about no one being to blame. Stop letting them off the hook.

He isn’t trying to recover/save the economy, that is not his goal. But he does want us believe that is what he is doing. He just needs to be convincing enough to get re-elected, that is the goal.

Romney must highlight how the Obamanation has killed jobs over the past four years: (1) Energy policies that are deliberately killing the coal industry; (2) High gas prices stemming from an energy secretary who has stated that he wants gas prices to get as high as they are in Europe; (3) Killing off the space program and its high-tech jobs; (3) Cutting back on the military and the high-tech industry that supports it with new weapon systems. He must reveal how he intends to reverse those policies.

He needs to continue hitting on the theme that Obama is the “unemployment”, “food stamp” and “downgrade” president–especially in view of the news that we may be in for another downgrade before the election.

There is a lot of “talk” on the networks that if the GOP cannot win this upcoming election with the obvious failure of the Obama administration in dealing with the economy, the radical nature of their agenda, the uncontrolled borrowing and spending, etc. then, they should just pack it up as it is over for the Republican party as a factor in the political arena of our country. And, to top it off, the Romney/Ryan team may be the strongest slate the Republicans could have put together to deal with the economy and massive unemployment, and the polls are still showing them behind at this time.

This situation, by the way, already exists in the state of California where the Republican party is basically disenfranchised and has no influence on the political process in the state at this time. The liberal arm of the Democratic party in conjunction with the public service unions have taken over the state and swept up all of those on the public dole, new immigrants, the Black vote, etc. and basically have control of both who gets nominated and then, who is elected. If the unions are not for a candidate, then they do not get nominated, let alone elected.

So, this has been going on for decades in CA and guess what, the state has been in decline since the needed “checks and balance” of the political system is not longer in play. The legislature in CA recently even changed the requirements to pass a budget to a simple majority instead of the traditional 2/3 majority, and work around all of the other built in checks and balances in the legislation. Every relevant metric in the state is negative but the state government just ignores it and plugs along like somehow some miracle is going to come along and change things. The state has the highest tax structure in the country but still has a huge budget deficit that is growing out of control. Companies and tax payers are leaving the state in droves to be replaced by low paid immigrants as the middle class continues to disappear (sound familiar). The public education system is now one of the worst performing in the country and the overall infrastructure of the state is falling apart. This is exactly where the country at large is headed under the Obama administration.

We now see that we are almost there at the national level and we are going to find out in November whether it is possible for a conservative or Republican to ever be elected President again in our country. If the liberals, the 100 million on welfare, the Hispanics, the Blacks, the public service employees, etc. all vote for Obama, it may not be possible for Romney to win even in face of the disaster we have running the Whitehouse. Remember, Meg Whitman spent 165 million dollars running against Governor “retread” Jerry Brown in California and still lost. Romney has plenty of money to use in this campaign, but, if all of these “takers” vote for Obama coupled with naive women who are only thinking of themselves instead of the country at large, etc. vote for this radical socialist administration, it just may be the straw that broke the camel’s back, and it will be one of the saddest days in the history of this country, because it will be day one of the inevitable decline of America that has been the envy of the world for 200 years.

There is something therapeutic about TRUTH. It calms anxiety, sharpens our focus, gives us a reason to hope for a better future, instills trust in the giver of truth, while diminishing the pettifoggers message. Romney must be bold and unrelenting in delivering TRUTH. If he can’t, then he doesn’t deserve to be our next President.

Here it is Sept. 11th and we are attacked again, in Egypt, &c., with at least one American dead in Lybia. If it had not been a third-rate movie, they would have found another excuse. The Obama administration apologizes!

I hope that Mr. Romney and Mr. Ryan would tell the hyper sensitive part of the Muslim world that we have freedom on speech here in America –get used to it! Jews and Christians are daily insulted in Muslim media and school curricula; we also have the internal security and maturity to not react by murderous rioting.

The ones who are groveling and apologizing are the real Islamophobes. I suspect that the moderate Muslims would greatly appreciate an American administration with a real spine or some other strong body parts.
