Heat Wave Is No Reason For Alarm

By Susan Stamper Brown

Baby, it's hot outside. If it wasn't for the refreshing cold front pushing through parts of the U.S. right now, one might be tempted to think there is something to all that global warming nonsense that conveniently breaks out every time it is warm enough for a climate change alarmist to break out in a sweat.

To be fair, climate change is real. It occurs four times a year when winter turns into spring turns into summer turns into fall. Alarmists don't see it that way, so they squawk "The sky is falling" every time conditions vary outside their interpretation of what they think is normal.

If there was ever a case to be made for global warming, it would have been in 1936 — back in the days when no one worried about how cow flatulence or greenhouse gas affected the atmosphere.

Unlike anything we've experience since; the three-month long 1936 North American heat wave wiped out crops and snuffed out lives during the Great Depression's "Dust Bowl" days. The heat wave that began in June largely ended in September, leaving in its wake over 5000 deaths, drought, and widespread destruction. Even as hot as it's been, many of the record-high temperatures experienced then are unmatched today.

To make matters worse, the 1936 heat wave was preceded by one of the most severe cold waves of the 1930s. The 1936 North American cold wave included recorded wind chills of minus-100 degrees Fahrenheit in the Midwest, ending with March floods. People concentrated on how to put the next meal on the table rather than obsessing over things like air temperature fluctuations.

It's good they didn't obsess, because temperatures returned to normal that fall, just like the cold front making its way across the country is doing today as I write.

The planet spins, the seasons change, temperatures fluctuate — and mere mortals are foolish enough to think they can control the forces of nature on a global scale and believe they can turn back the tides by the sound of their voice. Four years ago, then-Senator Barack Obama proclaimed his policies would lead to future generations acclaiming "this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal," attributing zero credit to the planet's creator in whom Obama professes to believe.

It's funny how nature has a way of rebounding all by itself. The BP Gulf Oil Spill illustrates this "God Factor" in contradiction to everything alarmists believe. A most informative January 10, 2011 Time Magazine article, "After the Great Spill: How the Gulf Cleaned Itself" explains how it did just that when "microscopic bacteria" digested "much of the hydrocarbons while they were still deep under the surface." Texas A&M University chemical oceanographer John Kessler said the spill "helped us understand the capacity of a natural system to handle this kind of event by itself." Wow.

Kessler's study also found formally "significant amounts of methane" scientists thought might impact global warming and assumed "would be around for years" had "largely disappeared" when "methanotrophs (bacteria that feed off methane)" mopped up most of the mess.

Reasonable stewardship of the planet is a non-partisan no-brainer, but there is a line to be drawn at the point where choices inflict indelible injury on mankind -- making man subservient to the very things created to serve him.

According to The New Yorker, Obama has said "the most important policy he could address in his second term is climate change." Unemployment numbers are abysmal, and the economy is in tatters, so the Alarmist-In-Chief elevates his pay grade to do something a little more vexing like healing the planet. Amazing.

I remember many years from the 1940 where we had very hot and dry years so this is nothing new just the higher temps. Over population has more to do with global warming than anything else just as there is so much room on a boat there is so much room on earth that can be handled.

I agree! I remember growing up in the 50s and 60s, when it was so hot, you couldn’t sleep. There was no air conditioning in homes, schools or even stores, and we all just saw it as being summer in the mid-west. Our solution was to go to the lake, or turn the sprinkler on and run thru it. Those were the days when we might have had a treat of a popsicle or some ice cream, but usually were were just happy for a glass of iced tea or Kool aide. People are weak now, have no ability to deal with temperature extremes. They all need to acclimate themselves to changes in weather, rather than heating to hot in the winter, and cooling too cold in the summer.

The temperatures have certainly gone up lately, at least in this country, but I’m not ready to lose any sleep over it yet. I can’t help but notice, however, that the media has really jumped on this and continues to remind us about how the Arctic ice is melting and the ocean levels are rising. A little bias on their part, perhaps?

Global warming or cooling is nothing we can control as human beings. There are weather angels and they get their directions from God to discipline our nation since so many Christians are involved in activism, false doctrine, or even understand why God is sustaining them on planet earth. We can’t sit around and speculate and leave God out of our lives.

I have been a carpenter and worked outside for most of my 46 years of employment. I still work outside and last week at 107 degrees I was working. Yea, it was hot and I didn’t[perspire] I sweated, but what’s new? I remember a lot of hot seasons in my lifetime; but this is the first when all the so-called climatologists are running around bellowing: It’s global warming! If they would get out and get aclimated to the weather instead of sitting in the air conditioned offices; the woes of heat would not frustrate the scientists so greatly.
Georgia usually gets hot every year about this time of summer.

I dont think man has much influence on the weather at all. Four years ago here in North Idaho we had 177 inches of snow the most ever recorded here. Today its 90, a few years ago it was 104 on July 4th.We had a cool spring and record rain this Spring ,and its always hot in July. Last year drought in Texas, Georgia, and Fla but lots of rain this year. Nature balances everything from one year to another and record cold and hot temps have been recorded through the years.

I live somewhat West of you in Oregon, in the Willamette Valley. A few years back, it was 106°F on 4 July, and for about a week after the 4th.

Thankfully, this summer has been almost unnaturally cool, with the highest temp recorded locally being today’s 89°F(11 July 12) high.

Sadly, the Global Warming nutjobs always discount the most important factor in global warming or cooling: THE *blank*ING SUN! Right now, we are coming out of a Solar minimum, and it’s only going to get hotter. Solar storms and the associated radiation also have a major effect on global weather patterns.

BUT WE CAN’T HAVE LOGIC OR EVIDENCE! LIBERALS “FEEL” THAT WE ARE CAUSING CLIMATE CHANGE, SO IT MUST BE TRUE!

      Idiots.

So the people between 18,000 BC and 5,500 BC must have been driving SUV’s and Diesel Trucks, huh?

Report: ‘Britain’s Atlantis’ Found Under North Sea

A vast, once-inhabited area that was submerged by the North Sea thousands of years ago has been discovered by divers working with oil companies and science teams from several British universities.

The underwater world, being called Doggerland and Britain’s Atlantis, stretched from Scotland to Denmark when Britain was not an island but connected to the European continent. It was gradually submerged by water between 18,000 B.C. and 5,500 B.C., according to researchers.

“Divers from oil companies have found remains of a ‘drowned world’ with a population of tens of thousands, which might have once been the ‘real heartland’ of Europe,” Britain’s Daily Mail reported.

“A team of climatologists, archaeologists, and geophysicists has now mapped the area using new data from oil companies — and revealed the full extent of a ‘lost land’ once roamed by mammoths.”

    *****************************************
The melting of ice caps during a warm period raised sea levels and submerged the area, which was also hit by a “devastating tsunami,” the researchers claim.

“People seem to think rising sea levels are a new thing, but it’s a cycle of earth history that has happened many, many times,” said Richard Bates of the University of St. Andrews.
    ********************************************************

“We have speculated for years on the lost land’s existence from bones dredged by fishermen all over the North Sea, but it’s only since working with oil companies in the last few years that we have been able to re-create what this lost land looked like.”

The findings suggest a land with hills and valleys, large swamps and lakes, and major rivers, according to the Mail. As the sea rose the hills would have become islands.

Researchers are currently probing evidence of human habitation, including possible burial sites, although there is little such evidence remaining because much of it has eroded underwater.

An exhibit called Drowned Landscapes is now on display at The Royal Society in London.

The oldest surviving description of the “lost continent” of Atlantis was written by Plato around 360 B.C., and asserts that Atlantis sank into the ocean around 9,600 B.C.

It’s all relative. When I lived in Toronto, a heat wave was defined as 3 days in a row with a mean temperature of 74 or higher. Having lived in Fla for over 25 years, 74 means I’ll take along a jacket, just in case. During summer, I keep the termostat set at 83. In winter, it’s set to 75.

When I run into a climate alarmist, I simply say, “You’ve got a drug problem, right? I wish you luck.” Then I walk away. Their whole argument has been undermined by facts and outright fraud.

The climate definitely changes that is why we study core samples of the earth. Ice melts when it gets warm, and it increases when it gets cold. The Ice caps are remnants of the last ice age. Maybe it’s getting close to time for another cycle to begin. From frozen to scorched, that’s the way the cycles go. Question is: when, and will it be severe enough to destroy most of the life on this planet? Perhaps only the strongest will survive. Only time will tell, but being an alarmist accomplishes nothing.

And anyone see the news about how the first half of 2012 was the hottest on record? Not just hot-Hottest on Record. There are massive changes happening at the ice caps-and not good ones. One area is growing due to more snow-the rest are not. How many more glaciers the size of large cites/small states do you need to have break off before you realize that?

OK, OK< we all see what is happening. The Sad part is that Greenies think it is because of man made CO2 or Methane …This is inspite of the fact the Volcanos are emitting thousand million tons more than man kind is emitting. Well here is what is really causing the issue. MAN is by Denuding the planet. Chopping all the trees down, over grazing the grass lands into deserts, building housing on productive farm land and so on, etc…

Cure = stop the overpopulation, replant most of the forests, move the housing into more a consentrated and return the land to farming use… Plants are the main mechanisem to remove CO2 and put O2 back into the atmosphere…

The global warming conspiracy needs to be put in perspective to be properly understood. This far-left attack by government-paid drones started in the 1970′s with the global cooling scam: we should disarm our nuclear bombers and fill them with soot to be spread over the poles and so prevent those new glaciers from descending south and crushing the New York skyscrapers to dust. When that did not work the same fakers invented the global warming hoax in the 1990′s; we should nationalize all industries and organize a UN-sponsored world socialist government based on “social justice” with the fakers in charge. What with 12 years of substantial cooling the fakers switched to the climate change flimflam in the 2000′s; so whatever happens we should…see above under the global warming hoax. And now we are faced with the cap & trade power grab – but the aim is the same as above. Our socialists, Marxists, communists, Hollywood stars, university professors in social and political “sciences”, and environmentalists are all clamoring for action while spurring President Obama (“Tomorrow the oceans will stop rising and the planet will start healing”) and his 35 czars/commissars to undertake immediate measures to save the planet – with the same aims as described above.
It is evident from the above quote that our President believes himself to be either Jesus come back to Earth, or at least the 12th Imam so ardently desired by that jihadist terrorist Ahmadinejad. …see above under the global warming hoax. Like to the Pinocchio in the fable, Obama’s nose grows longer with every lie he pronounces, while jumping up the steps to his teleprompter like a marionette.
Another thing ignored is the “Global Warming Petition” (see Internet) where 31,487 independent US scientists (including 9,029 of them with PhD degrees) dispute decisively the findings of the UN-sponsored panel; also ignored is the “Manhattan Declaration on Climate Change” (see also Internet) where a smaller number of competent world scientists, about 712, including 142 pure climatologists, state the same – i.e., that the man-caused catastrophic global warming is a farce. The books by Christopher Horner, Robert Carter, Patrick Michaels, Lawrence Solomon, John Berlau, Steven Milloy, Ian Murray, Christopher Booker, R. C. Balling, D. Avery, S. F. Singer, Brian Sussman, and AW Montford describing the lies, fakes, phony data, opposite conclusions, redacting by UN political hacks, reverse graphs, etc., have exposed this far-left propaganda in painful detail. In the case of the above mentioned Petition, several “environmentalists” had submitted phony names with phony credentials in order to sabotage that effort. It took several years of painstaking and expensive effort (that effort cost us more private money, no oil money there) to clean up the list from those saboteurs and verify all academic and professional data of the signatories.
To put this whole conspiracy in terms of numbers, let me say that the projected world-threatening increase of carbon dioxide of 100 ppm (parts per million) by the end of this century would increase thermal absorptivity of the atmosphere by one-eighth of one percent; that is the definition of something totally negligible. On the other hand the sun cycles of cooling and heating are many thousands of times more powerful with regard to the carbon dioxide in the air; when the sun is in its cold cycle the oceans absorb billions of tons of it; and when the sun heats up the oceans release the carbon dioxide in quantities many thousands of times bigger than anything the mankind could produce. To illustrate this point in more accessible terms to somebody who is not a climatologist or a scientist or an engineer; the argument of catastrophic anthropogenic (human-caused) global warming issued by our panic driven socialist/marxist government-paid hacks is like saying that a burp of a lonely wolf in Alaska will transform Florida into a Sahara-like desert – tomorrow! Perhaps an even better example would be to argue that the Pissing Boy in Bruxelles will inundate the continents by the end of the week. As for that bloviating gasbag and “climatologist” Al Gore, Dr. James Hansen with his tirades designed to get him more taxpayers’ money and who started his career by the global cooling scam in the 1970’s, as well as for Dr. Mann who inverted cause and effect in his “studies”, for Phil Jones who destroyed faked data, and for the corrupt Maurice Strong who started the whole affair – they should be brought to the International Court in The Hague on charges of crimes against humanity.

I came at it from a different angle. Anyone who remembers anything about Earth and Space science class and/or Geography class in grade school should be aware of Global Climate Change in terms of the Ice Age. I was still in high school when the teaching was that we must change our ways or we’ll create another Ice Age. I laugh at people who preach, or even believe the “Man Made” cooling or warming hogwash. Natural climate cycles happen, it’s nothing that can be changed and it shouldn’t cause alarm. I can’t begin to imagine how much time, effort and money ha been wasted by y people following the “teachings” of those who have the audacity to profit from this alarmist facade. By the same token, I can’t begin to imagine how much profit has been made by those who take advantage of other people’s fears and gullibility.

OK, lets look at some basic and simple facts here.
The Ice Age wouldn’t be the Ice Age if the Earth wasn’t warmer before that period. As the cycle continued, guess what happened? The Ice started to melt as the Earth started to warm up again. Think about that, we aren’t in the Ice Age now, are we? If Global climate change wasn’t real there either wouldn’t have been an Ice Age, or we’d still be in the Ice Age. How much do you think industrial and other man made pollutants had to do with that little climate change?

There are shorter climatic cycles that are part of larger climatic cycles that are part of huge climatic cycles and there’s nothing that humans can do to change it.
One lightning sparked wildfire causes more pollution in a few days or weeks than than humans can produce in years, and that’s nothing compared to volcanic eruptions. Nature makes corrections as needed.
Nature is in control of out climate and if you believe in God or a superior being by any other name, He or She is in control of nature.
I’m not saying that humans don’t make any difference at all, I’m saying that the difference we make is minuscule in the big picture and we’d be arrogant fools to think otherwise.
