Brown: Obamacare - Lies, Mistruths, Falsehoods and Fabrications

By Susan Stamper Brown

Legalization of something does not necessarily make it a good idea. It was once legal to own a slave. Democrats who voted against abolishing slavery in 1864, have been doing their part ever since to enslave Americans to one social program or another. Obamacare is just the latest example.

For years, Americans have been abundantly blessed with a mostly free-market healthcare system in which competent physicians at state-of-the-art healthcare facilities deliver the latest medical care. Yes, that care comes at a cost, but the alternative, which Obamacare will certainly create, is rationing.

Now that the Supreme Court deemed Obamacare's individual mandate for what it is -- a tax, Democrats are attempting to redefine it as a penalty. It's just their nature. Why call it a baby when you can reduce it to a fetus? Why bother worrying about illegal aliens when the term "undocumented workers" sounds so much more nebulous? I'll go halfway; let's call it a "penalty tax."

Lies, lies, and more lies.

No tax increases on the middle class: Has anyone noticed Democrats are always talking about strengthening the middle class, and yet almost all of their legislation ends up hurting it? It's the new "trickle down" theory. Take money from the top and sprinkle it over everyone else with no plan for growth. What you get is an increased lower class and a dwindling middle class. To make matters worse, Obama's administration keeps redefining down the definition of middle class.

President Obama pledged (his word, not mine) "No family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase." Wall Street Journal's senior writer Stephen Moore claims almost 75 percent of Obamacare expenses will be funded by those making less than $120,000 annually.

Trying to get ahead by doing a little investing? Think again. Section 1411 of the law will levy a 3.8 percent "Medicare tax" on capital gains, dividends, rents and royalties. The plan also penalizes "Cadillac" insurance plan holders by charging a whopping 40 percent excise tax — unless they are part of the White House's chosen few who were given permission to opt out. Overall, Obamacare imposes 18 tax increases at a cost of $503 billion mostly funded by the middle class and the elderly via Medicare cuts.

In other words, there are no freebies that aren't paid for by the same middle class taxpayers Obama purports to defend. Odds are, many of you reading my column will be recipients of this broken promise.

Medicare will be protected: Well, not actually. Funding cuts of more than $500 billion, in addition to more than 150 new provisions, will affect quality care. Like any business, physicians cannot remain in practice when their profits don't keep pace with costs to do business. Obamacare will bleed them dry. It may not happen overnight, but rest assured, it will happen, and when it does, the government will be right there to fill the gap with government-run facilities. Ask veterans and their families how that's working out for them.

Medicare's Patient-Doctor relationship will be preserved: Much like the U.K.'s National Health Service (NHS), Obamacare is more about cost control than quality care. The NHS determines medical needs based upon a calculation created by economists, and uses it to determine who does or does not receive treatment. We're not there yet, but Obamacare pushes us in that direction. Baby steps. And former Congressman Alan Grayson (D-FL) had the audacity to suggest the Republican vision for healthcare boils down to letting people die. Physician heal thyself!

Obamacare will not add to the deficit: Democrats' pants should be on fire for this promise. Research done by experts at the Heritage Foundation reveals Obamacare is "a trillion-dollar budget buster" and claims Democrats rigged their numbers using "budget gimmicks, sleights of hand, accounting tricks, and completely implausible assumptions."

One of the greatest things about America is that we have the opportunity to right our wrongs by way of the ballot box. What the Supreme Court declared as constitutional voters can declare as history come November.

And after all this, the same fools who voted to install our first socialist dictator, will continue to vote for him!

Too many people, paying little or no tax, think he’s the best thing to step foot on the face of this earth since Our Lord was born 2012 years ago. They believe he IS the messiah, come to save ‘em all from, well, I still haven’t figgered out what obama is supposed to save us from besides global warming and George Bush!

As a newly retired physician, who practiced for 35 plus years (and who was one of 17 board member of the AAPS when that physician group sued the Clinton Health Care Task Force), I will tell you that this article is 100 per cent on target. JMS

My suggestion is that EVERY Doctor or Nurse who is against this fraud of an Obamacare take a one month sabbatical from work one month before the election to show how our healthcare system will actually be performing once Obamacare goes into full gear. Let the emergency rooms back up, let the people wander the halls of our hospitals looking for qualified Doctors and nurses that Obamacare would turn from healers into paper pushers? Let the Doctors organize themselves before the socialist unions come in and destroy the entire system with their version of a unionized organization where mediocrity becomes the rule of the day, and the union coffers become one more kickback funded Democrat vehicle of wealth redistribution from the people into the hands of the socialist Democrat elite campaign chests.

I have yet to meet a medical professional who thinks that this Obama Care thing is good, but rather, a grand mistake, that creates more, and grievous problems.

No one dares mentions all of the exceptions for Obama Care, like Muslims. Humm?

Our family Doctor, longed for the day when he practiced medicine, in the 1940′s. In the 80′s he was tired, exhausted, of the bureaucracy, the Government entanglements, the lawyers, the insurance companies… . Our talk together is a most fond memory.

A procedure to remove a tumor from me, was laid out by this Doctor, with a hospital, operation room…, costing thousands of dollars. I had NO insurance. He had birthed me some time back, and he looked me in the eye, and asked me if I had time? $60, an hour, some stitches, lots of pain later. Done!

The grand old gentleman, left medicine at the end of the Century. I can only guess, that he would be disgusted with this Socialist complete take over of medicine. He has passed on. We should dearly miss men like this. They will not be back.

This time period in American History, is quickly becoming fully available at your finger tips to study, free of Politically Correct sanctimonious lectures, and accompanying history books. So I am at a loss Susan Brown, as to what vote in 1864 was a Democrat vote for slavery?

Had the Northern Army not captured and burned Atlanta, Union General, George McClellan would have had a good chance of winning the votes of war exhausted, blood drained Northerners. So, the Presidential Election of 1864 was were you found votes for slavery?

The largest riot in US history, in New York in 1863, the Draft riots, should be mentioned.

Perhaps even the Emancipation Proclamation was even a nod to slavery, as it ONLY freed slaves in areas that the Confederate States of America controlled, not in areas that the North controlled. Humm? After hostilities ceased, only in Union Controlled States did slavery continue, for awhile.

This time period is muddied up in lots of Pollyanna, self serving history. Laying out all of the history, is usually NEVER desired or done so with complete honesty. So, Susan, if you are going to start an article, much of which I agree with, don’t immediately tangle your argument up with a jumbled up obtuse statement.

Republicans & Democrats from this time period, are from another world. Casual comparisons are messy, at best, and distracting… .

The Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863,,,,,,by 1864 the only Democrats left voting for Slavery lived in the Confederate controlled States where this emancipation was to be enforced. It did not effect the Confederate states under Union Control. Slavery was not completely lifted in New Hampshire and New Jersey until the nationwide emancipation in 1865

The justification for “birthright citizenship” in the 14th Amendment was that there might have been some slaves who slipped between the cracks of emancipation and other actions.

      Thanks both inluminatuo & middleground.

The 14th Amendment as middleground pointed out, was to make sure that former slaves were not excluded from citizenship. All fine, yet, this attempt to solve a problem, has been grossly misused, to the great destruction of our country.

Most nations have seen that, “Birthright Citizenship” is an open pathway of abuse of the host country, and removed this costly can of worms.

I do not think that any former slaves are alive today from 1860′s America. True, in Africa, slavery is alive and well, but that is another sad story. So, lets clarify what the 14th Amendment was for, and end this suicidal lunacy.

And inluminatuo, you illuminated something that is so glossed over. Thank you!

Lwesson, seems that Susan is probably referring to the 13th Amendment brought to the Senate floor by Democratic Senator Henderson along with Ashley and Wilson. It was approved by the Senate in April, 1864 and the House in January, 1865. This Amendment officially outlawed slavery and involuntary servitude.
    Just sayin’ . . .

So it would seem that Democrats, in the US, put forth legislation to simply end slavery & involuntary servitude? This makes Susan’s comment, well….

Will look this legislation up, thank you. Might find it interesting enough to put in my novel. There is a mountain of information from this time period that has yet to see the light of current day.

      Regards.

Not saying that only Democrats put forth this legislation, there were versions from both parties. The version put forth by Henderson, Ashley and Wilson was a joint resolution and the version voted on. Ashley and Wilson were Republicans. However, Ms. Brown stated that the “Democrats who voted against abolishing slavery in 1864, have been doing their part ever since to enslave Americans to one social program or another”. I’m sure there were Democrats as well as Republicans that voted against the 13th Amendment.
