Malkin: The Coming DNC Disaster

By Michelle Malkin

There aren't Greek columns tall or wide enough to camouflage Barack Obama's impending North Carolina catastrophe. In September, the campaigner-in-chief will travel to Charlotte for his party's presidential nominating convention. For once, the incurable jetsetter may wish he had stayed home.

Obama's stage managers envision a triumphant, unifying coronation reminiscent of their 2008 DNC production in Denver. But the southern swing state is turning into a Democratic disaster zone.

Start with the North Carolina Democratic Party. At the state party convention last week, Obama for America was AWOL. The glaring absence of high-level national Obama surrogates was noted "as odd," according to the Charlotte News and Observer. There's good reason to steer clear. The party is embroiled in a sordid sex scandal that won't go away.

Earlier this year, former party communications staffer Adriadn Ortega, 26, accused former NCDP executive director Jay Parmley of repeated sexual harassment and physical groping. Documents leaked to the conservative Daily Caller news site revealed a hush-hush financial settlement involving the two men. Ortega was fired; Parmley resigned; state Democrats went into panic mode.

"If this hits the media, the Democratic Party, our candidates and our credibility are doomed in this election," a local candidate complained to NCDP chairman David Parker. A defiant Parker resisted statewide calls (including a desperate request from outgoing Democratic Gov. Beverly Perdue) to resign. Ortega filed a defamation suit against Parker and the NCDP last week. The White House, which has trumpeted its stand against workplace harassment, has been mute on the story.

Other Democrats are boycotting North Carolina to avoid an entirely different taint: the scandal-plagued president himself. By TheDaily.com's count, at least seven Democratic officials will skip Obama-palooza: New York Democratic Reps. Bill Owens and Kathy Hochul; Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. Mark Critz; three endangered Democratic politicians from West Virginia, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, Sen. Joe Manchin, and Rep. Nick Rahall; and Utah Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson.

The Democratic boycotters have dinged Obama on everything from his election-year illegal alien amnesty power grab to his failed jobs programs to his destructive war on coal. While "Forward!" may be the official Obama campaign slogan, "Back Away!" is quickly becoming the dissenting Democrats' rallying cry.

Moderate Democrats aren't the only ones refusing to put on the party hats and sing "Kumbaya." North Carolina is riling Obama's left flank, too. And national media outlets are noticing. In a piece on the DNC "going awry," Bloomberg News reported:

"Voters just approved a state constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, which conflicts with Obama's view on the issue. Convention fundraising has been slow, and labor unions tapped to fill the financial gap are angry the convention will be in a city -- Charlotte -- with no unionized hotels and in a state where compulsory union membership or the payment of dues is prohibited as an employment condition."

Thousands of anarchists, socialists and professional agitators also plan on protesting in Charlotte. After giving Mr. Hollow Hope and Change a first-term pass, self-declared progressives can't ignore Team Obama's in-your-face decision to deliver his presidential nomination acceptance speech at bailed-out Bank of America Stadium. As I've reported previously:

--The financially troubled bank snagged a middle-of-the-night, taxpayer-funded $45 billion banking bailout in 2008 and an estimated $931 billion in secret federal emergency loans.

--In 2008, B of A's political action committee gave its biggest contributions to Obama totaling $421,000.

--After purchasing junk mortgage company Countrywide, BofA agreed to pay $50 million in restitution payments for Countrywide subprime loan fraudster and Democratic fat cat Angelo Mozilo and one of his underlings.

Disgruntled leftists. Disgruntled centrists. Disgruntled unions. Disgruntled corporate donors. Sexual harassment scandal. Fundraising woes. And to top it all off: unrepentant class-warfare hypocrisy packaged as "The People's Convention" and brought to you by Bank of America. The DNC promises to be a public relations nightmare for Obama's optics geniuses. Too bad he can't send his autopen instead.

This Democrat Convention will be the Chicago 1968 convention riots all over again with the disillusioned Democrat radical wing socialists marching and disrupting every chance they can. If you think Obama raised, then dashed the hopes of us average “Joe the plumbers”, just watch what happens when the dashed hopes of the radical wings of his party hit the streets to show their disappointment with Obama’s failed power grab of our individual freedoms. More heads will get cracked than the number of crack heads that currently run things in Washington. This time there will be no George Bush around to fade the heat, just the never ending pandering oratorical sideshow fire eater of a Socialist Carnival barker President who elevated more Liberal secular geeks, socialist freaks and cross-dressing sword swallowing tattooed bearded ladies into positions of power which turned the political environment of Washington D.C. into a true circus performance. This is what happens when you promote the midget into the position of ringmaster and the lion tamer gets to use you as food to feed the insatiable appetite of the ever hungry socialist government predators. Let loose the Kraken, the Democrat clash of the Titans is about to begin, and yes indeed there will be no Greek columns for Obama to hide behind when the Geek columns of ALinsky inspired rebels begin to follow their scripted marching orders. The disoriented panderers that Obama sent to mount us and our chidlren will turn his conveniton into an ash heap of Herculaneum disaster of the proportion of a Mount Vesuvius.

I think you might be on to something there, inluminatuo. There is just enough dissension in the Democratic party and with whack job groups like OWS running around, there is a very real possibility of something destructive happening at the convention a la 1968.

And only one misspelled word, and that’s a typo. You may think I’m being facetious, but that’s the difference between the arrogant left and the considerate right. Proper grammar and spelling are acts of courtesy, and an effort to be understood without struggle. Civilization versus anarchy.

Being from the other side of the country, California, I can say that it’s going to be great entertainment, great fun to watch. {I AM a Conservative, by the way}. Of course the police and the press will be madly attempting to keep control of the crowds and protect the image of Ozero, but Fox will be there and we’ll get a good idea of just how UNWANTED this president really is. The DNC are “kicking themselves all the way to Tuesday” over their choice of conventions spots. I hope you Carolinaians give them hell………………they have it comming for what they have done to America in the past 3 1/2 years………….Now let’s get rid of them this Nov 6th……………..

It is deliciously ironic how the Dems picked a city in North Carolina, the state which passed a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage immediately after Obama came out in support of it. Yes, this ought to be really good.

Let’s be civil in commentary, and not follow the Left’s lead in comparing Obama to Hitler. And we don’t need references to Hitler’s suicide, either. Here’s a better approach; Nero fiddled while Rome burned. In fact, Obama is throwing gas on the fire. That is what Obama is doing by his Executive Privilege decree in regard to Fast & Furious, golfing over 100 times in 3+ years in office, multiple vacations per year at high cost to taxpayers, bailouts and taxpayer funding to green companies that subsequently failed, etc. The USA is in dire straits and the Teleprompter-in-Chief is ‘blue-screen jammed’ and unable to provide a reasonable plan to fix the economy and put people back to work. Instead, he is throwing gas on the fire.

The Left compared Bush to Hitler. I would like to think those on the Right have standards above such childish comments. And the suggestions of violence are not needed in a democratic society where votes will remove bad politicians from office, and put hopefully better ones in their place.

America is done for? Not yet. That is EXACTLY what the second amendment is for. I fear it is time to do what Jefferson spoke of over 200 years ago. It is time to fertilize the Tree Of Liberty. It is high time to see if the f–king statists love their rotten government more than I love my liberty.

And I am convinced … literally….millions of old men like me are more than willing to DIE for freedom. Quite literally. For if we lose it here….the light of liberty will be snuffed from the entire globe for at least a millennia. And it does not take anyewhere near a “MAJORITY” to accomplish this. In the late 1700 recall only 30% of the colonist were willing to die for liberty. The other 70% either were loyalists to King George or indifferent. I believe several million people would stand and deliver if push comes to shove and the military would split and be in total disarray. It will be one helluva mess. But it will be the only hope we have as a nation of liberty loving individual.

If that *** is re-elected…if the American people are so god damned stupid to give up their liberty…. I say it’s time to “LOCK AND LOAD”.

The socialists and anarchists must LOVE Obama, he’s their kind of guy/hero/czar/ right? Hopefully they won’t repeat their un-American actions such as in San Francisco when they broke windows, pillaged, caused terrible damage. The National Guard perhaps needs to be out in force, or stand at the ready, to prevent damage in that beautiful city. These are thugs. Socialistic/Communistic thugs.
