Reagan: The Designated Leaker

By Michael Reagan

Glory be to the commander in chief.

Everyone in the Washington-New York Axis of Evil knows that's why there has been a string of White House national security leaks.

Each of the leaks has been a transparent attempt to pump up President Obama as a tough warrior who deserves re-election because he's been intimately involved in the killing of Osama bin Laden, the cyber-sabotage of Iran's nuclear program, and choosing which specific terrorist gets blasted to heaven by a U.S. drone.

Everyone also knows the leaks have damaged our ability to operate our future military and counter-terror operations, and they put our intelligence agents and commandos at risk. And everyone but Obama press spokesman Jay Carney knows exactly where the leaks were authorized -- the White House.

The only big mystery left to solve is who the happy leaker is.

The Re-Elect Obama team has two Justice Department lawyers looking into the leaks, which is a joke. Republicans in the Senate including Lindsey Graham want a special prosecutor to mount a much wider and deeper investigation, which if it happens would bring the president deserved political troubles but would most likely only catch a few little fish who work for the big fish.

The list of White House leak suspects is long. The media accounts of the president's brave foreign-policy exploits in The New York Times and elsewhere have included quotes from Leon Panetta, Jim Jones, Gen. Doug Lute and Gen. David Petraeus.

But I don't think those gents are up to doing such partisan press work. I have a hunch the Obama administration's leaker is someone else. Before I say who I think he or she is, I have a little story about my father Ronald Reagan and his problem with a leaker.

When my father would hold discussions with his security advisers about possible covert military operations against the Soviet Union or Libya, there was always a certain U.S. senator in the room representing the Senate leadership. Even if everyone else agreed with a decision except the senator, the senator would often threaten to leak the plans to the press if the president authorized the operation.

It got so bad that when my father was planning to invade Grenada, he told no one in advance because he feared that the senator would blab to the media and cost American lives. That senator who caused my father so much trouble was none other than Joe Biden.

I have no proof, of course, but I think the Obama administration's leaker is Joe Biden.

Every White House has a designated leaker who tells their friends in the media what the administration wants it to know in hopes of getting politically favorable coverage. My father's was David Gergen.

Biden is perfect for the job of designated leaker. He works in an administration that spends half its time patting itself on the back and the other half trying to get the media to do it. Plus Biden, unlike the other suspects, has a vested interest in pumping up Obama's reputation as a strong leader because it'll keep him in the vice president's mansion for another four years.

One more thing. Remember when spokesman Jay Carney misspoke the other day? First he said "the Obama administration" wasn't responsible for the leak. Then he caught himself and said "the White House" wasn't responsible.

---

Though it's only my opinion, I bet Jay was actually telling the truth. It's not the White House that's been leaking. But if I were doing the investigating, I'd have someone take a very strong look at the plumbing in the vice president's house.

I have said it before and I’ll say it again, the Bin Laden Kill Photos will soon become the next leak upon the pant leg of our people and our troops with the sole purpose of edifying a campaign of an emasculated metro sexual Democrat liberal failed President.

My question is why there has to be three obvious security leaks before anyone reacts and starts a process to find the “leaker”. If you were the President and someone anywhere, and especially if Whitehouse staff may be involved, were to provide sensitive classified information to anyone, let alone someone writing a book, wouldn’t you go “all out” to find the “leaker” and make an example to others that this will not be tolerated. And, I mean put them in prison, not just a slap on the wrist.

This President has never…NEVER…paid attention to actually running our government and providing Presidential leadership since becoming President. He has allowed Valerie Jarrett and others on his staff to run the Whitehouse and his administration while he flits around campaigning and enjoying himself at taxpayer expense. He reads his speeches, which are prepared by others, he uses his list of worn out talking points over and over, and fumbles around when attempting to answer unpreprepared questions. He never has new and novel ideas on anything, let alone our economic mess which has put millions of Americans out of work and out of money.

He is NOT A LEADER and should never have been elected. It was a huge mistake and his lack of abilities and experience continue to perpetuate his failed policies. Is there any compelling reason for even considering giving him a second term? Absolutely not…only apathetic, uninformed, racially motivated, and zealot socialists will vote to re-elect him in November. Hopefully, the informed voters who see the failures of Obama will prevail and Romney will take over the Whitehouse in January.

Why did Obozo not go after the leaker after the first NatSec leak? Simple. The leaks were all pre-approved by Obozo. These leaks were all made with the express purpose of beefing up Obozo’s reputation as the international tough guy. The thing is though that Obozo is not a tough guy, he merely climbs on the back of the tough guys and tries to look tough by being close to them.

Those who will vote on national security rater than the issue that really matters, the economy, should be aware that a vote for Obozo is a vote flushed down the toilet. Obozo has no, none, nada cred when it comes to national security and a bunch of leaks of classified information will not make it so.

For a long time now, leaks have been happening and nothing by either side has said anything. Even Obama allowed the movie makers privy to information that he felt the public did not need to know. How’s come David Axlerod is present in the kill-list meetings. Then O comes out and says how bad it is that someone would think his people would do such a thing. If not his people who else would have privy. He makes me sick.
I am still wondering what will become of the doctor who is being held in a jail and has to serve 30 years for helping us.

They are absolutely correct, I would never give info as they would leak it and then who would come after me.

Obama’s arrogance gives him the idea that he can release secrets and Holder will protect him, but with the calls for Holder’s resignation increasing, Obama should realize he is facing a backlash and possibly charges of treason after he leaves office.

Do the American people really want to subject themselves to another impeachment trial in 2013 when we can cut out the cancer in November?

Yes, we need to impeach Obozo. I haven’t favored impeachment on other grounds…and earlier on…because getting rid of Obozo would have created an even greater nightmare in a President Biden. But now, we need to show that leaking national security secrets will not be tolerated and we’ll only have to put up with Biden for a couple of months and in those couple of months the Congress won’t be meeting because they will have recessed so the Democrats can go home and plead with voters for their jobs.

Divulging classified information to unauthorized recipients is a CRIME. Security professionals who handle it, take their oaths seriously and consider certain jail time as an effective deterrent against unauthorized releases of information. Author Tom Clancy knows that even the compilation of open source information can lead to a composite of military capabilities or intelligence sources and methods and information.

We know we cannot trust the “Administration” or the “White House” and the cadre of neutered, P.C. civilian employees in government to investigate and prosecute those who are responsible. It’s called the fox guarding the henhouse and would only be a bottle of eyewash to get this off the minds of the public and off the headlines. We should be hollering to Congressional representatives until they do their Constitutional duty and get to the bottom (or in BHO’s case the Top) of the leaks.

Hey, give the guy a break. He’s done the best he’s capable of at following Bush’s foreign policies.

Seriously, I’m amazed the Reps haven’t continually pointed out that most of Obama’s “foreign policy successes” have merely been extensions of Bush’s policies.

Leaks designed to make the president look like a tough guy? Putting our servicemen and women in danger just to get re-elected is too much. These leaks literally put a bigger target on their back than what naturally comes with the job. Of course I am sure that this is all carefully crafted for maximum benefit for the administration.
I am very sure that Obama is not counting on military support come November. the military traditionally votes republican and with the loss of a division when we are already fighting shorthanded military votes will not be flowing for Obama. Add these leaks to the mix and you can pretty well count their support out.
I am sure Obama knows who is doing the leaking. His dis-interest he has shown publicly says it all. He really does not have too much to worry about though as long as he has Holder covering his back.

In 1961 when I entered the US Army, it was a violation of Army Regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice to be Gay. If found to be Gay a person was given a “Less Than Honorable Discharge”. During the Clinton Administration it was “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. Here we are in the year 2012 and Obama has declared that it is okay to be openly Gay in the military. Personally, I am thankful that I was able to retire before Obama made being Gay mandatory.

Everyone here is correct! But you know it will never happen. To anangrygramma: you asked ,”why wait, do it now? In reference to impeachment. Just yesterday, Sen John Kyl of Arizona proposed legislation formally saying Holder should resign. And wimp McCommell wouldn’t sign it! Against the miserable, lying radical AG. That’s where at; some big talkers, with no backbone. And if they don’t get real tough, real soon,Obama’s will pock up momentum and get reelected…

Obama and Holder know that they can play along and give the impression that they are seriously looking for the source of the leaks but they know that nothing will come out of the investigation until after the election in November, especially if the leaker was Biden or someone on Obama’s staff. These people learned how to play the political game in Chicago where stiff arming, the limp knee, and procrastination is on page 1 of the Chicago political “how to” manual.
