With great fanfare and elite media sympathy, Jose Antonio Vargas publicly declared himself an "undocumented immigrant" this week. "Undocumented" my you-know-what. In the felony-friendly pages of The New York Crimes -- er, Times -- the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist turned illegal-alien activist spilled the beans on all the illegal IDs he amassed over the years. He had documents coming out of his ears.
The Times featured full-color photos of Vargas' fake document trove -- including a fake passport with a fake name, a fake green card and a Social Security card his grandfather doctored for him at a Kinko's. He committed perjury repeatedly on federal I-9 employment eligibility forms. In 2002, while pursuing his journalism career goals, an immigration lawyer told him he needed to accept the consequences of his law-breaking and return to his native Philippines.
Following the rules would have meant a 10-year bar to reentry into America. Making false claims of citizenship is a felony offense. Document fraud is a felony offense.
Vargas, who frames himself as a helpless victim, freely chose instead to secure yet more dummy documents. He used a friend's address to obtain an Oregon driver's license under false pretenses. It gave him an eight-year golden ticket to travel by car, board trains and airplanes, work at prestigious newspapers, and even gain access to the White House -- where crack Secret Service agents allowed him to attend a state dinner using his bogus Social Security number.
At least Vargas tells the truth when he says he's not alone. Go visit a 7-11 in the D.C. suburbs. Or the countless vendors in MacArthur Park in East L.A. Or any of the 19 cities in 11 states from Massachusetts to Ohio to Kentucky where a massive, Mexico-based "highly sophisticated and violent" fraudulent-document trafficking ring operated until February 2011. "Undocumented workers" and "undocumented immigrants" have plenty of documents.
The persistent use of these open-borders euphemisms to describe Vargas and countless millions like him is a perfect illumination of the agenda-driven, dominant progressive media.
They're as activist inside their newsrooms as Vargas is out in the open now. Bleeding-heart editors were hoaxed by a prominent colleague, exposed to liability, and yet still champion his serial subversion of the law. San Francisco Chronicle editor Phil Bronstein bragged that he was "duped" by Vargas, but endorses his "subterfuge" because Vargas' lobbying campaign for the illegal-alien student bailout known as the DREAM Act "just might lubricate the politically tarred-up wheels of government and help craft sane immigration policy."
Who's insane? The Vargas deceit is not an object lesson about America's failure to show compassion. It's another stark reminder of America's dangerous failure to learn from 9/11.
Time and again, security experts have warned about how jihadists have exploited lax immigration and ID enforcement. Driver's licenses are gateways into the American mainstream. They allow residents to establish an identity and gain a foothold into their communities. They help you open bank accounts, enter secure facilities, board planes, and do things like drive tractor-trailers carrying hazardous materials.
It's been nearly 10 years since several of the 19 9/11 hijackers operated in the country using hundreds of illicitly obtained fake driver's licenses and IDs. Most states tightened licensing rules, yet Vargas easily obtained a driver's license not only in Oregon, but more recently in Washington State. He again used a friend's residence to pass muster. Washington State's licensing bureaucracy still does not check citizenship. The man sitting in the White House campaigned to keep driver's license laws as loose as possible for the open-borders lobby. He appointed illegal-alien lobbyists to top federal immigration positions. His head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement just signed a memo pushing the DREAM Act through by administrative fiat. And the privacy of illegal aliens still trumps national security.
I ask again: Who's insane?
Vargas believes his sob story is an argument for giving up on immigration enforcement and passing a mass amnesty. It's a sob story, all right. Homeland security officials across the country should be weeping at the open mockery Vargas and his enablers have made of the law.

Put him in jail. When his time is up deport him and bar him from coming back to this country. Lets not forget his employers. They need to be fined and all employment records need to be E-verified and those who are illegally employed need to be immediately deported. On top of that we need a law that says if you are in this country illegally and caught you will forfeit all possessions and be deported.

I would honestly prefer that charges be brought against him and take any income he has earned or possessions he has and then deport him to where he belongs whether the deportation is from a drop from a helicopter into the jungles of the Phillipines or on a slow boat there. Do you wonder why all of a sudden this liar, cheat has suddenly come out about his illegal status? Could it be that the illegal in the highest office in the land can use this to push the DREAM IDIOCY? Probably! He has devastated this country every other way and this would finish it off.

The people and agencies who gave him the fake documents and helped and supported this men should have to pay for his prison through asset liquidation and fines. They should also pay for thier own jail time through hard labor.
That is something else that needs to return to our prisons, Hard Labor. The inmates should have to pay for thier time through work, not watching TV and playing video games.

This idiotic dream act will become our national nightmare. Either we are a country of rules and law or we will descend into the abyss of anarchy. If Obama does not send this guy home packing then he obviously should not be surprised in 2012 when we send HIM packing.
Again, when we allow the power of government, whose job it is to dispense American Justice, to meddle in the arena of Mercy, for which it is ill equipped to do justice, we get neither justice nor mercy for the honest who play by the rules as American citizens. We only succeed in elevating dishonestly, lower the quality of American life and our American EXCEPTIONALISM gets ground into just so much Socialist sausage to feed the masses in a country of mob rule by the lowest common denominators of society.
If Vargas wants to be an example, then we should give him his wish. Load him up in a military aircraft and parachute him out at 20,000 feet over his original homeland. But first tattoo the words ILLEGAL all over his forehead so he can’t return, and the people of his homeland will understand who we are and who he is.

These clowns keep dodging due process by using these obscure processes that were never intended for the kinds of things they’ve been doing. Little things, like declaring CO2 a pollutant and giving the EPA the authority to put the coal industry out of business. we need to build a box around Obummer and keep him in check!

Illegal immigration is the biggest issue our country faces, a national security issue. I am a 9/11 widow and I can’t understand why people don’t take this more seriously. It’s another 9/11 waiting to happen. Passing acts like the “Dream Act” which allows illegals to go to college ( many state colleges paid for by taxpayers!) and pay the lower “residents” rate while your American kid from another state pays full ’Out of state” tution , is just insane. Anything we do to make illegals more comfortable here when in fact they should not be here at all, is an outrage and further endangers our own citizens by continuing to lure more illegals here. I just read the comment by L J of 8:51 AM and I would like to tell you: WONDERFUL! and thank you for such wonderful and truthful comments. I cannot understand why the news media continues to call the “ILLEGAL ALIENS”, “immigrants”. Those individuals (the illegals) regardless of how long they have lived in this country, they have broken a federal law when they crossed our borders and entered in our country without a visa or the proper permit to be here. Therefore, once they are found and identified as illegals, they should be deported and sent back home the same way they came in: WALKING, and not sent back very comfortably in an airplane. Have we forgotten the meaning of the word: SOVEREIGNTY! Let’s fight and work to make sure that we still have it in our country. Keep ILLEGAL ALIENS out.

The laws in this country need to be black and white guidelines. As for interpretation, fairness, and determination of penalties those things should be the function of the judiciary. The President is supposed to be the guardian of fairness and protector against foreign interests.
This twisting, distorting, and manipulating of what is/should be right is destroying this country. Free trade is not Fair or in the interest of this country. Illegal is criminal, undocumented is criminal, just like killing another is criminal. Illegal immigration is also infiltration and invasion, would we welcome Chinese troops into this country? Then on Freedom, Freedom is not control or regulation, but instead the right to exercise Free Will Choices without Fear of Oppression… Reverse discrimination and affirmative action are discriminatory. The list seems almost endless how crooks and opportunists have corrupted this country, society, and the ideals/morals of it’s citizens.
Absolute Freedom would lead to chaos because even killing another would be a right, but what should be in this country is Freedom with responsibility, not restrictions and penalties for what one might do….(i.e. DWI). Laws should be clear, killing another is killing another, stealing from one is stealing (no matter who or what you represent), etc.. You shouldn’t be prosecuted for something you have not yet done….

Michelle, I support all that you do, but why are you not turning your talents to the obviously fraudulent obama birth certificate? Any Republican candidate will walk into the white house, if only the media would stop ignoring the fact that OBAMA IS A FRAUD. Look at his forged Birth Certificate for yourself people on whitehouse.gov. While there are several different experts who have determined it is fraudulent, you don’t have to be an expert to see it for yourself! MALE under SEX does NOT dip down as if it had all been copied from the book of BCs from 1961, no it runs straight across! While SEX and the line beneath Male dip down, why? because MALE was added to a compilation of other people’s BCs. Note how Student has two different t’s within that same word, not to mention 27 different fonts total from a supposed typewriter that only had one font! Note the smiley face in the first letter of the registrar’s signature, the A actually has a face on its left side. See it for yourself by zooming in on the BC. No actual official would sign his name like that, but the forger who did apparently thinks he’s real cute! Note how the registrar supposedly used an official stamp with a misspelled word, what should be THE is spelled TXE….So there you are in 1961, the official registrar and you’re going to stamp official BCs with a misspelling? Of course not, if you order an official stamp, and it comes back wrong, you make the company who produced it, make it correct. Obama is using a SSN from Connecticut. Wake up America, we do not currently even have a president or a commander in Chief, we have nothing but a felon, using forged/fraudulent documents ruining our country from within. In this day of 24-hour TV news and internet media, I cannot believe that we will allow this fraud and ALL THOSE WHO ARE COVERING FOR HIM to get away with this! Research it for yourself people!

Go ahead, prove me wrong! enlarge the BC and look for yourself. Then there’s the Kerning not possible on typewriters, the layers, the green graphic paper background not correct, the 27 different fonts, on and on. This issue IS getting traction. mark my words. And the article is about illegal immigration…got it….don’t you think the president should be a legal president? don’t you think that might just be more important than all else at this point?

To be a “natural born American” does not mean being born in the USA – you can be a natural born if both of your parents are citizens and born overseas – like Senator McCain was born in Panama (still was US owned then, but none the less not in one of the 50 states). You could be born in UK, France, Russia etc – but if both parents are US citizens then the kid is.
If one of the parents ARE NOT then you get into the International law and when the kid is born the child MUST be declared as to what nationality they are now under – and you have to go the the US Embassy and do all the paperwork etc to show that you are a US citizen and the child just born is to be registered as such etc.
I had friends that were born in the UK, Germany, France – all were kids of service personnel who were born outside the USA – and they all were US citizsens even when born in non-US hospitals. Some even had dual citizenship (the UK ones were allowed that back then.)
Some things have changed as to dual nationality, but the parents HAVE to declare when when the kid was born what nationality they belong to. Sometimes, the kids (if dual still in some nations) can wait till 18 then declare – but if they CHOOSE a nationality – then it could be argued that they are not since the natural born ones have to GIVE UP citizenship to become US – if they say GIVE UP and retain the US then they would still be natural born since they were given both at birth.
Course one of the worse things are people born outside the USA, totally raised in the culture of the local nation(s) and NOT schooled like in a US military base school – ie schooled in all the local customs and precepts and raised OUTSIDE the US culture then coming back and saying they are Americans – then they are only a paper American since NONE of the culture and norms of the USA were ever taught to them.
That is one of the main reasons that rule was put into the Consititution – to prevent foreign ideas being taught to people that go against the US norms could be elected / Inherit as the President’s office.

Good article, but it just infuriates me more about the way our government(s) at all levels are handling our illegal immigration situation. All I hear about is the pressure being put on the Obama administration to pass “comprehensive” immigration policies by Hispanic advocates and, apparently, the “open borders” crowd, etc.
My questions are “what is wrong with the current policies” and what would change in these new “comprehensive” immigration policies?
Could it be that this issue will not go away with the liberal/progressives in this country including the Hispanic population until we just completely open up the borders along Mexico and grant everyone coming across American citizenship? Our border security is a joke anyway, and every politician in Washington knows it but will not admit it for political reasons. This country is going down the tubes because of runaway “political correctness”. The Dems know that they are “using” Hispanics to drive their voting base, and will say or do anything to pull them in under their liberal tent. What would totally unscrew this strategy is for the Hispanics in this country to get wise to this fiasco and begin to vote their inherent conservative values instead of supporting the socialist policies of the left.
Will the “real leaders” of this country (including those in the Hispanic community) stand up, we need you!

It seems that the only people who go to jail are now white American citizens. The illegals are awarded with all the freebee’s that Hussain can take from hard working taxpayers while Americns either go to jail or are left foodless, gasless, and on the verge of bankruptsy! Hussain has collected at least 3 impeachable offenses for which no one seems to care, except the American citizens who are footing the bills and losing their country to a bunch of muslim communists! Hussain is acting like Hitler right before he destroyed the Jews, but rather than outwardly sending us to gas showers, Hussain did the deathcare bill which will effectively kill off all the seniors and the disabled! The congress made them selves exempt from the deathcare bill so they are in no big hurry to repeal it! And why should they, they will get the best medical treatments, no matter what their age as well as the govt. workers all on our backs! But don’t be angry, because so will all those poor illegals, uh, “undocumented citizens! So while we starve AND GO TO JAIL AND DIE BECAUSE WE WILL BE DENIED TREATMENT, ALL THE DIRTBAGS AND LEECHES IN THIS COUNTRY WILL THRIVE! WHAT A DEAL!

This is an extremely legitimate site dedicated to stopping illegal immigration.

Vargas is a great poster boy for how the Dream Act would greatly increase illegal child smuggling, if it passes 10 times more parents would do like his did, sneak their children in at age 12 in order to get cut rate college tuition and guaranteed green card. Why stupidly wait until age 18 to come in on a legal student visa since it means tuition is three times higher with no guarantee you can work after graduation.

What drives me nuts is why there isnt anyone in Congress who purports to be patriotic, to come out in the open and start whatever is needed to solve our “Obama problem”. Ah yes, My wonderful “adopted” State of Oregon, governed by navy blue libs is a haven for illegals. The loophole has finally been closed that allowed the undocumented to get drivers licenses with little more than a utility bill (proof of residence) or a rental receipt. The governor Ted “Colonoscopy” gave the illegals a 5 month warning that the law was to be changed to require a certified full copy of birth record (or naturalization papers) in order to get a license. Of course the result was predictable. During that 5 month window of opportunity the illegals swarmed the DMV offices like hordes of locusts, securing their 8 year “pass”. Probably the only person without a certified birth record who could get a license here now would be Obama.
It gets worse of course, our Secretary of State under the last administration, made it very clear that all residents of the state are welcome to vote in local and state elections but not federal elections……suuuuure, nod, nod, wink, wink………who’s going to be checking on that?

Exactly. No one does check, and if they did there would be cries of “discrimination”, ”racism”, and “disenfranchisement”. And why are they even allowed to vote in local and state elections? That would be like an American temporarily living abroad and being allowed to vote in that country’s elections. Like that would ever happen.

Those of you who think that the employers should be fined or jailed need to understand what restrictions the Federal government has placed on employers in order to not “discriminate” against anyone. As an employer in the construction industry, 99% of the job applicants that we get are Hispanic. We have had 1 white and 2 black applicants in the last year. That said, we require everyone to complete the I-9 Form and furnish 2 forms of identification. As stated above, driver’s licenses and social security cards are easy to come by, and hard to identify as forgeries.
We belong to E-Verify, but you have to understand that the government rules for using it severely limit its usefulness. You CANNOT use E-Verify before hiring someone, so you have to hire the individual before checking his status. After hiring, you only have 3 days to check his status. Doing so after the 3 days is against the rules. If you get a no-match, you cannot terminate him. You must notify him and give him 30 days to try to get it straightened out. After 30 days, if he says he is in the process you still can’t fire him.
We pay all of our employees “above the table”, withholding Federal & state taxes. Everyone gets a W-2. Every year we get “no-match” letters from the IRS stating that some of the SSNs don’t match the name. We are also forbidden to terminate the employee because of the no-match.
There are probably a lot of employers who pay illegals “under the table”, but don’t tar every employer with the same brush. Even those who try to do the right thing have their hands tied.

I find this one funny!
A friend who happens to be Hispanic is always chiding me about my stance on undocumented immigrants. That is at least until recently when he received an IRS notice that he owed more in taxes due to unclaimed income on his tax forms. He has since found out one of his friends cousins (an undocumented immigrant) was using his identity to get work. He now is fighting with the IRS about his $20,000+ in unclaimed income.
My advice to him was shut up and pay up or else change his attitude towards undocumented immigrants.

Why is this happening – the immigration thing? Who do you think the dems count on to help keep them in power?
Just another sub group clamoring for handouts and freebies. The dems will bend over backwards for these people (illegals) to get their votes.
If it was not for class warfare, entitlements and handouts the dems would get no more then 20% of the vote and go extinct as a party.
Want to beat them? Keep hammering on this and get laws in place to keep illegals on the outs and out of the voting booth.
This is why I no longer oppose abortion even though technically and personally I think it is murder. If these people want to thin their own ranks and produce less lib/dem voters/dependents in the future who am my to say no to them. Where would we be with all those people voting dem if they had not been deleted from existence by their own mothers?
I will personally offer to drive any lib who wants and abortion to the clinic just hit me up. Yes I know how this sounds, I’m just being practical here so… Remember, every deleted vote counts for our side, so get out of the way and let them keep deleting themselves.
Go ahead and flame me for saying this in a discussion about undocumented immigrants. I think it is relevant enough.
We also need to outlaw anchor babies for people who are illegal/vacationers here in this country. Put a stop to that and you salve half the problem right there. What other developed country allows this? Answer = none, we are the only country dumb enough to let it keep happening. Thanks go of course to the dems/libs who know every one of these is a future dem/lib voter.

Being, myself, a victim of identity theft, I’m not at all sympathetic to this professional thief, or his scam to influence immigration policy.
Fortunately, I caught it quick. The money in my bank account was replaced by the bank, the FBI not only caught the perp, but busted the entire ring .. centered right there in ‘immigrant friendly’ New York .. and all the scummbags are doing hard time.
Imagine my surprise when I leaned that I went on vacation in Italy. I didn’t even know I had a passport.
I wasn’t the only victim. They fleeced over a million dollars before they were brought down.
So .. the LIBs would have us reward this kind of activity by bestowing citizenship on these criminals?
Okay .. and I’m sure they’ll get good, decent, low-paying jobs at 7-11 to show their appreciation .. right?
Only a LIB could possibly be that stupid … which pretty much sums up the entire DNC these days .. the moral defectives leading the mental defectives down the merry primrose path to oblivion.

Another point is that several years of executive failure to enforce congressional immigration law has rendered the US Congress entirely irrelevant on this issue. Today state politicians are taking the places of ineffectual congressional politicians in opposing presidential non-compliance with immigration laws (supposedly governing the nation,) because they are the only politicians who can enforce laws without executive branch assistance, and because they need the support of legal citizens to gain and retain seats, unlike the electoral college selected president. The last time this kind of federal/state polarization happened there was a civil war.
The problem is actually not immigration, it is uncontrolled, non-taxpaying, illegal immigration rapidly adding unplanned, unfunded expenses to rapidly failing, tax funded welfare state social services. I can’t imagine why any president, even one as stupid as Obama, would think such an agenda would result in a secure political seat… social chaos and national bankruptcy, both so obviously looming and both obviously created by today’s border-free welfare trough, clearly indicates that no current federal politician is going to remain politically unscathed, no matter how good they are at placing the “dreams” of foreign born law breakers ahead of the well being of every, single cooperative, tax paying American citizen.
This welfare state is funded entirely by citizen taxation, supposedly in pursuit of every American’s well being and the perfidious, underhanded Obama, solely through executive inaction, is clearly using every legal citizen’s welfare taxes as his election tool, to pay for non-taxpaying illegal immigration social service expenses, in hopes of securing a solid Democrat majority through the automatic citizenship of tax funded, illegal alien births. If opposition complains, Obama plays his little liberal race card.
This political tactic is just nasty, based primarily on race baiting, as well as the unjustifiable use of American taxation to buy foreign born elections influence…illegal immigrants who receive both tax funded social services and diversity scam based educational/employment opportunities from Democrats, will, it is expected, likely teach their children to appreciatively vote Democrat. But that scenario isn’t going to play as expected into successful Democrat elections, but in hostile social polarization, economic rupture through an unaffordable expansion of tax funded social service users, and mass political dissatisfaction, already here and already accelerating, perhaps into outright rebellion.
Republican candidates should expose these facts, rather than as they do, limiting themselves to ineffectually protesting the entirely irrelevant pro-Hispanic race card played by Democrats, (when they aren’t playing it themselves, not to mention helping liberals pretend that labeling both illegal and legal immigration, simply as “immigration,” magically ensures that the consequences of illegal immigration will be exclusively beneficial, just as it was when massive legal immigration into a formerly capitalist American republic, not today’s welfare state, actually was beneficial.

The “Dream Act” has already been ratified in California. While they are touting how wonderful it is to give illegals resident status when paying for their college/university education, they fail to point out that CA residents whose households bring in less than $60,000 a year get their college fees and tuition for FREE! That’s right, the state (taxpayers) will pay for their college education. This is happening at the same time that funding for California State colleges and universities is being cut by a billion dollars. Literally thousands of California citizens will be laid off – I’m sure it makes them all warm and fuzzy inside to know that illegals will now get a free education on their dime.

The march of crooks will continue and this crook will not be subjected to any criminal prosecution. It would not surprise me if obama gave him a citizenship award for his ability to scam the system. And amnesty from prosecution for past and future crimes he will commit.
The United States Government, at this time in history, will be viewed as one of the most corrupt governments on the face of earth. And if it survives it will be because of citizens rising up against obama and his administration.
This governments refusal to visit past governments which fell because of a lackadalsical view of sovereignty should lead many to conclude that maybe it is the plan of this administration to destroy America.

And the beat goes on Michelle! Yes he desreves some hard time, but if we’re just going give him some “club med” at tax-payer expense, I say put him on the next “Hurky Bird” to A-stan. In 2012, all of us need to get off our portly posteriors and put the Demos in the soup kitchens. We can’t afford or abide another four years of chaos.
