‘Yes, Yes, and, no more, to public employee unions!’
As events continued to unfold in Wisconsin and Washington DC, around the States – thinking minds began to change.
Here’s a recap.
It started on Wednesday, when President Obama put his federal oar into Wisconsin’s water stating:
“Some of what I’ve heard coming out of Wisconsin, where you’re just making it harder for public employees to collectively bargain, generally seems like more of an assault on unions.”
As if that was not enough, Mr. Obama continued:
“It was wrong to vilify these workers or to suggest that somehow all these budget problems are due to public employees.”
In addition to double-speak, when he did that, President Obama took sides – in a state matter!
Many astutely said the president was wrong to butt in to state affairs.
They are right.
Others agreed, wisely adding Mr. Obama went too far.
By Thursday, as criticism mounted, administration insiders knew they had a problem.
So, political defenders were activated to counter that President Obama was only responding to a question asked during a television interview on the NBC affiliate in Milwaukee, WTMJ.
Initially, that spin served to tamp a bit the public uneasiness caused by Mr. Obama’s comments.
But, there was more to the story.
Investigative research uncovered and reported online that… the Wednesday television interview was actually setup by the Obama White House.
Thus, at the least, administration operatives - eyeing the 2012 election campaign - were intent on securing the opportunity for Mr. Obama to trade support with a strong segment of his support base - public employee unions. That Wisconsin is a battleground state does make the effort politically tempting. Besides, who in the White House really cares that comments by a federal executive official can overstep constitutional limits protecting states?
While the impact – and the appropriateness – of what Mr. Obama chose to say about the Wisconsin situation can be debated – and even manipulated by willing constitutional revisionists - what was uncovered next clearly shows the administration’s apparent motivation in their adversarial planning, purpose, and actions.
Specifically, the Democrat National Committee and its Organizing for America arm (which originally was an integral part of Mr. Obama’s 2008 campaign) have been identified as actively orchestrating and busing in union members to demonstrate in Madison, Wisconsin.
Then, came this…
DNC/OFA plans are to do the same during the weeks ahead in other states.
Next, some detail:
In addition to Wisconsin - Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Jersey are also targeted.
The core question:
Why is the DNC/OFA actively interfering in state matters attempting to block the will of the people?
Perhaps, only President Obama and/or DNC chair Tim Kane know the truth?
Here’s part of the political calculus:
All five of the states are important 2012 battlegrounds; all have new GOP governors (elected to reduce state spending); and, all five states have high numbers of resident union members.
Interestingly, while the national average in the 2008 election exit polls was 21%, the percent of union members in the five targeted states are much higher: Wisconsin +5, Pennsylvania +6, Ohio +7, Michigan +13, and New Jersey +14.
Rather than speculate about other prescriptive motivations, let’s consider the implications.
When the American people decided on corrective change last November – that is, away from the transformative change Mr. Obama has been implementing – citizens selected candidates to represent them who committed to carry out their wishes at both the state and federal government levels.
That is as it should be in a constitutional republic.
However, the problem with what has been unfolding on the streets in Wisconsin is that what the DNC/OFA has been orchestrating there – whether with or without the awareness or participation of the president – amounts to organized opposition to block carrying out the people’s will.
Making the situation worse are the signs carried by the organized DNC/OFA demonstrators portraying the new Wisconsin governor as “Hitler”, other signs overlaying a target on the his picture; the willful distribution of fraudulent sick notes by alleged doctors to anyone asking for them; the willful abandonment of public classrooms by teachers; and, the dereliction of duty by 14 democrat state senators who hid out of state in Illinois.
Such manipulations - and collusions - suggest an apparent desire for chaos in the streets of the United States.
Such attitude is never good, emanating, perhaps, from a politics of ‘get our way at whatever the cost’ compounded by the petulance of administration progressives that the United States Constitution can ‘be damned’.
Such acting out is absolutely unacceptable.
During the last two years Americans have seen both executive hubris as well as aloofness exhibited by the previous congressional majority.
Now, in a sense, Mr. Obama is becoming his own - and his party’s – worse enemy.
Most Americans recall the last time a president viewed political adversaries as enemies.
Remember… back then… it started with lists - evolved into dirty tricks - followed by illegal acts.
This time… instead of faithfully demonstrating respect for the United States Constitution, our Republic form of government, and the freedom-loving citizens who believe in Democracy, President Obama and/or the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, or other operatives, have begun to engage in activity that appears clearly intended to obstruct the will of the American people.
Unless all such activities cease forthwith – and public apologies tendered - the long memory of the American people will start to ask the familiar question:
“What did the President know; and, when did he know it?”
That question should first be publicly directed to DNC chairman Tim Kaine.
All things considered, Kaine should know what the DNC/OFA was up to with the Wisconsin activity. Reportedly telephoned last week by the president about a 2012 US Senate run in Virginia, Kaine also knows what direction, if any, may have been given to him by the President.
Whether Obama gave Kaine specific directions to execute the Wisconsin machinations - OR - Kaine planned Wisconsin entirely on his own - OR - Kaine knew nothing of what was going on in his DNC operation… inevitably this is a ‘lose – lose - lose’ for Tim Kaine.
Respectively, Kaine will have to be the cutout - OR - the one person held to account - OR - look the fool unaware of what was going on in the DNC/OFA.
While it is now unlikely that Tim Kaine will be elected to anything in 2012, this is not about his future.
Rather, it is about the future of our constitutional republic.
Citizens can ensure our future during the present with the persistent question:
“What did the President know; and, when did he know it?”
