Here's a modest proposal for liberals who say they support job creation: Stop smearing successful, law-abiding private companies whose values don't comport with yours. I'm looking at you, New York Times.
Chick-fil-A is an American success story. Founded by Georgian entrepreneur Truett Cathy in 1946, the family-owned chicken-sandwich chain is one of the country's largest fast-food businesses. It employs some 50,000 workers across the country at 1,500 outlets in nearly 40 states and the District of Columbia. The company generates more than $2 billion in revenue and serves millions of happy customers with trademark Southern hospitality.
So, what's the problem? Well, Chick-fil-A is run by devout Christians who believe in strong marriages, devoted families and the highest standards of character for their workers. The restaurant chain's official corporate mission is to "glorify God" and "enrich the lives of everyone we touch." The company's community service initiatives, funded through its WinShape Foundation, support foster care, scholarship, summer camp and marriage enrichment programs. On Sunday, all Chick-fil-A stores close so workers can spend the day at worship and rest.
For the left, these Biblically based corporate principles constitute high social justice crimes and misdemeanors. Democrats are always ready to invoke religion to support their big government, taxpayer-funded initiatives (Obamacare, illegal alien amnesty, increased education spending and FCC regulatory expansion, for starters).
But when an independent company -- thriving on its own merits in the marketplace -- wears its soul on its sleeve, suddenly it's a theocratic crisis.
Over the past month, several progressive activist blogs have waged an ugly war against Chick-fil-A. The company's alleged atrocity: One of its independent outlets in Pennsylvania donated some sandwiches and brownies to a marriage seminar run by the Pennsylvania Family Institute, which happens to oppose same-sex marriage.
In the name of tolerance, the anti-Chick-fil-A hawks sneered at the company's main product as "Jesus Chicken," derided its no-Sunday work policy and attacked its operators as "anti-gay." Michael Jones, who describes himself as having "worked in the field of human rights communications for a decade, most recently for Harvard Law School," launched an online petition drive at www.change.org "demanding" that the company disavow "extreme anti-gay groups." Facebook users dutifully organized witch hunts against the company on college campuses.
Over the weekend, New York Times reporter Kim Severson gave the Chick-fil-A bashers a coveted Sunday A-section megaphone -- repeatedly parroting the "Chick-fil-A is anti-gay" slur and raising fears of "evangelical Christianity's muscle flexing" with only the thinnest veneer of journalistic objectivity. Severson, you see, is an openly gay advocate of same-sex marriage equality herself and the former vice-president of the identity politics-mongering National Gay and Lesbian Journalists Association.
In a bitter op-ed on gay marriage laws not changing quickly enough, she asserted: "I don't want the crumbs. I want the whole cake." Severson has voiced complaints about her social and economic status as an unwed lesbian with a partner and child in several media publications.
None of this was disclosed in Severson's advocacy journalism hit job on Chick-fil-A. But therein lies the unofficial motto of The Gray Lady: All the ideological conflicts of interest unfit to print.
Progressive groups are gloating over Chick-fil-A's public relations troubles exacerbated by the nation's politicized paper of record. This is not because they care about winning hearts and minds over gay rights or marriage policy, but because their core objective is to marginalize political opponents and chill Christian philanthropy and activism. The fearsome "muscle flexing" isn't being done by innocent job-creators selling chicken sandwiches and waffle fries. It's being done by the hysterical bullies trying to drive them off of college grounds and out of their neighborhoods in the name of "human rights."
Remember: These were the same tactics the left-wing mob used in California to intimidate supporters of the Proposition 8 traditional marriage initiative. Individual donors were put on an "Anti-Gay Black List." Businesses who contributed money to the Prop. 8 campaign were besieged by fist-wielding protesters. The artistic director of the California Musical Theatre was forced to resign over his $1,000 donation.
Message: Associate with the wrong political cause and you will pay. So much for national "civility."

These attacks against Chick-fil-A are nothing more than hate crimes and it’s time to stop. This is supposed to be a free country. You should not be forced to believe morally repulsive. The left is really trying to invalidate Christian values. They have no right to interfere with your religious belief. Any business should be able to support any cause that they find merit in. They should not be subjected to the onslaught of any group. Chick-fil-A has not harmed these people in any way but they are going out of their way to demonize them. Do they care if people loose their jobs because of the hate leveled at them by Liberals and gays. NO THEY DON’T! They have absolutely no idea what live and let live means. They are trying to force people to think the way they think. Trying to force people to believe in anything is a draconian jack boot communist way of doing things. If they disagree with Chick-fil-A then they don’t have to eat there.
That doesn’t give them the right to adversely effect lively hood in there smear campaign. I have always been a KFC man but now It’s time to go to Chick-fil-A to help counter the left.
IMPEACH OBAMA NOW!
February 2, 2011 @ 10:26 am
I think you have a good point. This is a hate crime to target the company. Wonder if there is a good lawyer anywhere that would take that case?
February 2, 2011 @ 10:31 am
Sadly, liberals believe the term ‘hate’ crimes applies only to acts against those of like minds!
February 2, 2011 @ 10:38 am
I don’t know what path others may take but I wear my ANTI GAY BIAS as a badge of honor. It is an unnatural unhealthy and un godlyway of life. Thats my story and I am sticking with it.
February 2, 2011 @ 11:15 am
Good point, wildman. A Christian organization pointed out some time ago that KFC is owned by Pepsi, a big supporter of the homosexual agenda. All the more reason to redirect your trade to Chick-fil-A.
Old Bill, I’m not anti-gay because I’d like everyone to be happy and carefree (the real definition of ‘gay’). I am, however, anti-homosexual. It’s an abominable lifestyle choice, as you point out.
Over the years, I’ve successfully counseled homosexuals, many of whom were confused by others’ influences, and some who had to deal with the demons within where prayer and God’s healing power could redeem them. It’s ironic that the militant leadership of this group of sexual deviants who are generally unhappy people with a high rate of suicide have adopted ‘gay’ to describe themselves. I’m not letting them hijack the language.
February 2, 2011 @ 11:49 am
@FlaJim – Pulleeez! You have kept track of those many homosexuals who you counseled over the years????
Have you ever considered the possibility that insisting that it is a life style that they chose, that is an “abomination” that they must turn away from might lead to a high suicide rate when they find that they can NOT change their natural instincts?
When do you start counseling the heterosexuals who engage in sex acts that are an abomination cited somewhere in the Bible? How about just going after the very visible people who work in the porn movies that are so prominently advertised on billboards when you drive into the SOUTHERN DIXIE states where CHRISTIAN values are the clarion call? Why pick just on homosexuals who are just asking you to STOP telling them they are an abomination? America is such a country of juvenile thinkers – England practically institutionalized homo behavior and simply taught their children how to live quiet dual lives fully accepted at all levels of society.
February 2, 2011 @ 11:56 am
I’m not anti-gay either as far as their “civil” rights are concerned. What I DO get angry at is their blatant and frequently “in your face” demands that they be recognized as “normal”. Any idiot knows that homosexuality is an evolutionary dead-end and would be gone except for their recruitment practices which include pushing their deviancy on children via the public schools and calling it “tolerance”. I’m am most certainly not a violent person, but that changed when one of these perverts got really interested in me while I was relieving myself in a public washroom. He got more than personal so I took it upon myself to punch him in the face, kick him in the groin, and told him if I ever saw him again under the same circumstances he would be “singing soprano” for the rest of his life.
I know more than one person who has had a similar experience, although not necessarily the same response.
As an elementary school teacher I am constantly bombarded with their desire to have their deviant sexual practices- male, female, and confused- become part of the curriculum. Since by law I must teach what is required by decree of the state and local school board, I do so. But with EVERY lesson I am REQUIRED to teach, I follow it with a science lesson on extinction and what causes it, the continuation of species and what makes that possible, and end up with a Q&A. The Q&A invariably has someone ask if those who are “gay” are “normal” in their practices which always elicits some classmate’s response that “they can’t be because they can’t have young so must go extinct”. Since the direction of the lesson allows for the KIDS to recognize that these peolple are an evolutionary dead-end, THEY conclude that homosexuality is NOT a good thing. The nice thing is that administration can’t do a d*mn thing about it, either! I am NOT condemning the practice of homosexuality, the kids are as pointless and having no desirable outcome.
Years ago when the “***** agenda” was just coming into the schools I began the above practice. Like-minded teachers (more of them then than now) who wanted to condemn the practice- legally- took it upon themselves to have similar lesson sequences- some before, others after, but always in directed Q&A’s the kids themselves brought the issue up to where it COULD be addressed without fear of repercussion from proponents of the agenda. I was challenged on it a number of times and always found to follow proper practice, as were others who did the same.
My fear now is that the sexual deviants are winning their recruitment battle in the schools simply by virtue of the younger teachers (40 and under) who were themselves subverted by their HS and College level “teachers”. Mostly under the guise of being “tolerant” of others.
Frankly, if I am ever again put into a confrontational situation with anyone who wishes to push their perverted attitude on me, they WILL get the same response. I keep MY sexuality out of the public, and they’d better do the same.
And as brought up by American to the end, might it be considered a hate-crime against Christians who believe that such behavior is wrong (a sin), and the gays attack same? If not, WHY not? And if not, then I most certainly have the same rights to take the same nasty path that they do.
February 2, 2011 @ 12:09 pm
You make my point very well, scotpond – as best I can follow it (I also tutor English).
There’s nothing natural about engaging in unnatural sexual activity and that goes for heterosexuals as well.
In answer to your question, yes. I have tracked a number of them and they’re much happier and more fulfilled today or when I last heard.
As for the Brits, they’re a nation of weenies and nearly as bad as the effeminate French.
February 2, 2011 @ 12:21 pm
YOU seem to have missed the point that Chick-fil-A is funding supporters for fighting gay rights. In MY book, that’s a business using it’s money and influence to force THEIR ideas on me and my children. YOU are so right, THEY have absolutely no idea what live and let live means. Base on the replies, I don’t foresee any loss of jobs or business nor will it make anyone change their minds. It just says that a business should not demonstrate a partisan bias and then expect the people they dis to be their patrons. NONE of this has anything to do with Obama – so why the epitaph at the end except that you hate him too?
February 2, 2011 @ 12:32 pm
@FlaJim – And, what happened to the ones you lost track of?And, how many years are we into the “happy” change in lifestyle. I want a documented survey that proves you’re success rate.
What part of my question do you have difficulty comprehending? The point is, you’re picking on homosexuals because then threaten to create a society where they are accepted as one of God’s creatures, just like the norm in Europe after the NAZIS got done murdering a few million. Why not put your focus and efforts on saving the sex industry workers, the women and children who are truly victimized – BY HETEROSEXUALS?
February 2, 2011 @ 2:17 pm
Scotpond, you make my point for me. You accused me of being a hater because I don’t prescribe to your school of thought. I don’t hate gays and don’t hate Obama. What I believe is the pro marriage people have a right to believe what their religion says and don’t believe the gays have the right to try force them to believe otherwise. as for Obama I believe he is the poorest excuse for a President in the history of the USA. He has no real experiences in his life with the military life or what truly makes the economy work. Instead of being a leader he instead tries to be a ruler. As for people being born gay… some are but not all. I know many people who are gay some are good friends. At two thought they were gay but then after living as gay the decided they weren’t. One in particular was married for 35 years then divorced. She took a job at a halfway house and ended up with a 5 year relationship with another women. Now she is straight again and has been a relationship with a man for about 6 years.
IMPEACH OBAMA NOW!
February 4, 2011 @ 2:00 pm
I thought for a brief moment that I might say that the real cause of all of the anger emanating from the Progressive, homosexuality promoting Gay-groups was simply their jealousy for not getting free Chick-fil-A food donated to them. But only for a very brief moment.
What caused my to NOT make that comment is my familiarity with what these people really think about Christians (or anyone else) who do not support them, and how they really treat those people.
So, not jealousy, but pure, angry, intolerant, hatred.
February 2, 2011 @ 9:45 am
Why in the Gay communities is it not okay for someone to be anti gay? Do they not realize they are the ones in the wrong? They want us to accept them but they do not want to accept others. I like Chik-Fil-A, and will eat there as long as they are open to do business, and I will protest the government if they try to close them. If they have the right to disobey God’s rules do we not have a right to object to it? The left practices hate but then expects everyone else to be subject to their hate crime laws. Their is a difference between hate and objecting to a lifestyle. Just as the Obama administration plans to go ahead with Obamacare in complete defiance of a Federal Judges ruling, maybe the rest of us should pick and chose which of the federal rules we want to follow,
February 2, 2011 @ 1:33 pm
They have bastardised the constitution to read separation of Church and State and use it to take away Merry Christmas, The 10 Commandments, and if allowed In God We Trust off our money.
So now they are somehow trying to have Separation of Church and Corporation. Under what law or premise does that come?
And is this the only christian Company in the country? We really need to be looking into that, we may be buying from a lot of Christian based corporations and not even know it.
Shame on us.
This country is really getting stupid, and the Lame Stream Media are leading the way. And even Jay Leno had disparaging remarks about Chick Fil’e in a monolog recently. Some of his later comedy has made me begin to lose faith in him.
It’s so sad to see our country being turned into Soddom and Gomorrah before our very eyes.
February 2, 2011 @ 9:55 am
I’m with you, onewildman.
I’ve had it up to my (expletive deleted) with these (expletive deleted) “people” who try to cram THEIR intolerance down everyone else’s throats.
I have NEVER been one for legislation to curb one’s “rights”, but since a “public source”, the NYT, is using it’s writer’s to push a specific agenda it no longer is a “news” source and should be treated as the extremely biased media that it is.
Ditto for the networks doing the same.
We NEED legislation that would curtail these so-called “news’ outlets. How, I’m not sure, but perhaps in the ability to fast-track slander and libel? Any business that operates under specific principles should NOT be subject to this kind of media abuse. I would be happy to volunteer to serve on a jury considering a suit against the NYT.
As far as Chick-fil-A, I’ve pretty much become a vegetarian (under my wife’s “persuasion”), but I will certainly make an exception for Chick-fil-A wherever I encounter them.
The NYT? I stopped reading it decades ago. As a counter to them, why not initiate a nation-wide boycott of all of those who advertise in it? NO paper can survive loss of advertisers. Not for long, at least. Often just the THREAT of being boycotted on a large scale is enough to convince businesses that they need to consider their actions.
As an example, I hold up Ford Motor Co., who was the subject of such a boycott a few short years ago. Their business plummeted, Ford changed a policy of theirs, and the business immediately returned, but at a HIGHER level. The initiator of the boycott? OMM (One Million Moms), a misnomer since it has more than a million members and there are a lot of male members.
In any event, I will be happy to join such an effort to silence that Devil’s mouthpiece forever.
Are there any Conservative-type people out there who belong to an organization willing- and able- to initiate such an action? Let me know and I’m with you on this!
February 2, 2011 @ 11:24 am
Heh, heh – the NYT has been incoherent and on a respirator for a number of years now. I think they now supply staff reporters with Yugos these days. Their expensive toys have all been sold, their circulation has dropped over 50% in the past 10 or 15 years, and their stock has tanked.
Frankly, it wouldn’t be surprising to find that 1/4 of their readership consists of conservatives who want to see what stupid thing will be printed next.
February 2, 2011 @ 9:56 am
I never go to Chic Fil A becasue they use peanut oil and my son is allergic to peanuts – but I will go there at least for drinks every time I see one now just to support them.
I despise hate filled people of the ilk behind this smear campaign.
Suggestion for them – MOVE to some other country – you are free to do that and we would be much happier without you.
February 2, 2011 @ 10:25 am
Perhaps they might want to move to one of the countries touted as success by liberals, you know…like IRAN! I’m sure they would be welcomed with smiles and open arms – oops, maybe not! Probably more likely they would be STONED TO DEATH!
WHEN are they going to stop trying to force their abhorrent ways upon the 95% of Americans who do believe in judeo-christian values??? I am sick and tired of so-called liberals being so narrow-minded that they refuse to accept any opposition to their beliefs. Yet they demand we accept theirs!??????????!
Whatever has happened to tolerance????????? It is NOT a one-way street!
February 2, 2011 @ 10:02 am
I love going to Chick-Fil-A. If the lefty haters want to boycott them I will start going to their stores more often. I knew it would only be a matter of time until the lefty haters went after Chick-Fil-A. Mr Cathy is a great American, a fine Christian and his business is a great American success story. Gosh, anyone can see why he is a threat to the radical lefties.
February 2, 2011 @ 10:28 am
I remember being saddened when Publix began opening on Sundays. I was living in Florida at the time and was proud to be a customer of a business that believed in allowing their employees time to worship and be with their families on Sunday.
This outrage should hopefully increase Chick-Fil-A’s business. If there was one nearby, I would certainly make it a point to stop in for their delicious offerings!
February 2, 2011 @ 10:08 am
I love Chick-Fil-A, eat there often. In fact, I will make a point of eating at Chick-fil-a more often in support of them!
February 2, 2011 @ 10:09 am
The blind bias of the left is why I quit Home Depot and shop at Lowes!
HD DOUBLED their contributions to the gay groups just to show us our boycott didn’t affect them.
Now, as for me, I’m heading out for a Chik-Fil-A!
February 2, 2011 @ 10:14 am
I agree anyone has the right to speak their own opinion without fear of prosecution or demeaning words of hate. what ever a business does is their business as long as they cause no harm to others – that is the american way – whether I like gays or lesbians or not – its their right to chose and to speak with facts on their beliefs – they have rights, and to have an organization spill hate across the internet and use the media to promote hate is a sin in itself – what happen to america? what happen to our civilities? We erradiate anyone on the registry, we erradicate those who disagree with us – we lost our souls and our way of humanity by allowing hatred to enter into our beliefs, our homes and childrens’ hearts – we and only us can change that. its time to think and act like real christines. Allow those to speak as they desire without hurt, without violence and pray that one day we as a society come together for good reason, not because of a tragity. The sex offender issues is a prime example of the hate our government and politicians and the media wanted us to feel and express – thank you america. Because you followed the media and politicians agenda – divide and concur – we have lost all thoughts of humanity – let people speak without hate without violence and listen and decide – not by erradication of a group of people for what you think they have done or didnt do or beliefs or non-beliefs against one another. This is America – lets bring humanity back into our homes and listen and talk – thats the only way to stop the lose of our Constitution and Civil Liberties.
February 2, 2011 @ 10:22 am
I hope Chick-Fil-A will not be deterred from well-doing by all this negative publicity. If good people roll over and give in to evil, evil will triumph. Christians are promised that they will face persecution if they are shedding “light” in the “darkness.” Those in the dark don’t like it when their sinful lifestyles and deeds are exposed. They opposed Jesus so it should be no surprise when they oppose his followers. Dig in, Chick-Fil-A, and keep the faith. Heap coals of fire upon the heads of detractors by good deeds. I am with you, and I hope your business will explode as a result of this hateful campaign. God bless Chick-Fil-A!
February 2, 2011 @ 10:34 am
The more I read things like this—the more I wonder just where along the way did the gene pool get so contaminated that those of us who want to live decently and enjoy life have to put up with the stupidity and self-imposed ignorance of these obnoxious and babbling publicity seekers? They think they are so intelligent and in reality they are so pathetic. There are so many times I would like to be Bruce Almighty for just 5 minutes.
I admire Chick-Fil-A as a business model and, as fast food goes, they are definitely one of my favorites. Their hiring process ensures good quality workers who are very pleasant and make for an enjoyable experience every time I go to one. Keep up the good work and stand your ground.
February 2, 2011 @ 11:29 am
Re: Contamination of the gene pool.
At least they’re not breeding!
February 2, 2011 @ 11:56 am
@FlaJim – WRONG AGAIN! You see, the ones who have been counseled or fought off accepting who they were for years, did and do have children. Also, some who always lived as gays have had children. Interesting case in point, the great clothing designer Perry Ellis who died of AIDS.
If you’re so off base on this simple fact of life, how can we accept anything else that you say is a fact of life?
February 2, 2011 @ 10:40 am
Wait, so what you are saying is that people still read the NY Times?
That aside one of my friends did post the “stop eating a Chick-fil-A because they are anti-gay” on her FB. I read the article, saw that it was one store in PA, shrugged my shoulders and went about my business.
I get the best service at Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s locally. Both have very high Dept of Health scores and trust me, we check those. I get the worst service at KFC and Taco Bell.
February 2, 2011 @ 10:43 am
Thanks, Michelle, for another great article.
We see another example of what happens when we decide God no longer has a role in our country. If you research American history, you will discover the country was founded to glorify God. Up to about 100, or so, years ago, God and the Bible were the basis for our laws and judicial actions.
Let’s get back to God. Chick-Fil-A is a fine example of how successful can be a business which does follow Christian philosophy and teachings. It behooves us all to support and patronize them.
February 2, 2011 @ 10:47 am
I never heard of this business before this. I’ll be sure to visit a location or two as soon as I can.
February 2, 2011 @ 12:17 pm
Can’t believe you’ve never heard of Chik-fil-A! Doesn’t the slogan “Eat Mor Chikn” ring any (cow) bells with you?
Oh, well. Now that you’re aware of them and planning to visit, let me recommend their deluxe sandwich. It’s nothing but their regular sandwich plus lettuce and tomato (and 50 cents or so), but that, with a large dollop of mayo, is the way a chicken sandwich is meant to be.
And check their specialty milk shakes. I believe the current offering is peppermint-chocolate. Great stuff. Last summer it was peach with pieces of peach so large that the straws clogged. Ambrosia!
February 2, 2011 @ 12:39 pm
@riverking – You are making me so hungry! I might stop by and eat there this afternoon. Just goes to show ya – we’re not at all the way we’re characterized by name-calling bloggers. LOL
February 2, 2011 @ 12:43 pm
Ease up RiverKing. Chick-fil-A is only in 40 states. There may well be many readers who aren’t familiar with the chain. We eat there now and then and will continue to. They have a great business model that should be emulated by other businesses. There’s a difference between businesses choosing to be closed on Sunday and businesses being required by blue laws to be closed on Sunday. I like the vountary version.
February 2, 2011 @ 10:47 am
the leftist media and all of the queers that support them are as much of a threat to the US as any terrorist. Degrade our country with wrong thinking and greedy actions, in place of kindness and caring. Fact is that these poor excuses of human beings better hope WE never stop caring and they for sure better not mistake our kindness for weakness. To call them gay is just a distraction from the truth, fact is that the gueers that spread AID’s are not gay at all, they are miserable and dieing and they would let America die with them with no remorse. This is not what Americans needs or wants.
GOD BLESS AMERICA
February 2, 2011 @ 10:51 am
While I’m not a huge fan of Chic Fil A, I will make every effort to patronize them in the future. As long as good men do nothing, evil will triumph…but not on my watch if I can do anything about it! Thanks to Mr Truett Cathy for standing firm in the face of adversity, and my Chic Fil A enjoy major profits from their efforts!
And thanks again Michelle, for bringing the truth to light!
February 2, 2011 @ 10:51 am
Are YOU all saying that YOU would NEVER boycott a business operation that publicly supports gay marriage??? If you learn that McDonalds Corp is funding organizations fighting for a change in the laws to allow gay marriage, you would simply ignore the fact and go on taking your kids there????
The fact that Chick-Fil-A is owned and by Christians has NOTHING to do with the boycott other than that they choose to imply that their viewpoint is THE Christian viewpoint on this issue. There are plenty of Christians who support gay marriage.
You seem to be saying that in AMERICA there is no right to assemble or boycott against people who are supporting government actions that they disagree with. Meanwhile, you probably support boycotting buying items manufactured in China, etc. IF that were possible AND guess what?. That would likewise effect the profits of the American business owners like the INDIANA company the created and sells the famous VERA BRADLEY handbags that are now made in CHINA.
February 2, 2011 @ 11:59 am
No I wouldn’t boycott some for having a differing opinion than but boycotting some who is violating my civil rights would be a different story. These people have the right to practice their religion and neither government nor you have the right to interfere in their religion. This is about being Christian because liberals like these are trying to force people to think like them. You don’t have that right demonize their religion because they don’t agree you just as they don’t the right tell you can’t be gay. It boils down to freedom of choice. A boycott is nothing more than an metaphor for extortion, an attempt to force someone or business to do something other than what they believe in or face monetary loss. That is an attack on their constitutional right life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. NO ONE IS FORCING YOU DO BELIEVE AS THEY DO AND WHY DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO FORCE THEM TO BELIEVE AS YOU DO. IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO FORCE ANYONE BELIEVE AS YOU THEN YOU ARE A COMMUNIST!
IMPEACH OBAMA NOW!
February 2, 2011 @ 12:49 pm
scotpond, your rambling post makes no sense. Unfortunately, in today’s climate, many good businesses are obliged to support homosexual and other left wing causes because not to do so can be unhealthy for their bottom line. In essence, they are being blackmailed by “the tolerant ones.”
February 2, 2011 @ 1:23 pm
@ liberty4310 – It sounds like you can’t follow more than one train of thought at a time.
The main topic in my viewpoint is the RIGHT to exercise a boycott agains a business that acts in a way I don’t approve of. It might be the way they treat their EEs (Walmart) or the way they spend corporate money in the community (supporting anti-gay organization)
I’m guessing that some of our readers MIGHT support the idea of boycotting Chinese made goods and thinking that only hurts Chinese business so that kind of boycott is OK, unlike the boycott of an AMERICAN business. But, business in America is more complicated and our home grown business operations can get hurt by Chinese goods boycotts.
So, boycotts are boycotts and the business operations effected are totally free to keep doing what they are doing OR change their policies to diffuse the boycott. They aren’t being asked to become Pro-gay, just to stop supporting ANTI-Gay groups.
February 2, 2011 @ 10:53 am
It never ceases to amaze me that the left will center in on anyone who would dare to be in disagreement with anything they hold dear.
The company serves good food and takes care of their employees. They do not push their beliefs on anyone just simple act as good people. Simply because they are Christian in their manner they are vilified by the liberals.
When do we realize that enough it enough and start standing our ground, pushing back and retaking this once great country.
February 2, 2011 @ 11:48 am
olereb,
I think you have put yor finger on the problem , All people can worship as the want ; and this is our God given right, and was the American way. But things seem to favor the radicials, the pushers if you will.
I think that persecution of any kind is wrong, just as I believe all these law suits you here about have gone to far. We must once again become a nation of people who care, about our nation and its people. TY tugsnoop
February 2, 2011 @ 11:03 am
Gay people seem to be intolerant of all not gay. They would seem to prefer the entire world be gay and love same sex relationships.
It’s not normal! God meant relationships to be heterosexual. Gays can’t reproduce without help. God said go forth and multiply!

My family eats at ChikFilA a couple of times a week, and we now plan to double up on our patronage. This country must begin to stand up to tyranny in all its forms.
February 2, 2011 @ 11:12 am
I choose not to patronize companies that don’t share my values. This is not a new concept. Yes, everybody does it. If you found out Chick-fil-A supports the kicking of puppies, would you go there? In a free market, I choose where to spend my money. I’m going to spend my money where it best benefits me.
Also, you can quit victimizing now, it doesn’t work. How can you call someone intollerant, who doesn’t support a company that doesn’t support them? It’s called hypocracy.

TWISTED
As the lavender lobby engages
To subvert Christian culture in stages,
They accuse us of hate
If we dare validate
Common sense and the wisdom of ages.

@ Duplantier – Your defining Christian culture your way. I’m defining it my way. All of which leaves out all of the other cultures that have equal rights in AMERICA.
@ jb80538 Gays have no desire for the whole world to be gay. For you to say you think this may be true is a demonstration of pure homaphobia. It destroys any arguments you might present against gay marriage, of which there are many that revolve around the effect on the economy and laws of the land regarding the rights of spouses. Example: entitlement to spousal life and survivor benefits under Social Security.

Scotpond’s name should be changed to Pondscum.

Without morals these people are doomed. We need to take a stand for God and His Principles. Resist satan and he will flee from you. We cannot let these people continue to pervert morality and try to make it socially acceptable. Hate the sin, love the sinner – and homosexuality is a sin. If they can “procreate” with each other, they might have a case – but then it would have to be a man and a woman – as God says, they forsake the natural for the unnatural. They can try to justify it any way they want to, but just as abortion, adultery, pedophilia and fornication are sins – so is homosexuality. If they want to make one the law, why not all?

Your message is one that should be posted on billboards and on bathroom mirrors–to remind everyone that we don’t make the rules. GOD does!

you spend you time thinking about murdered babies, stolen wives/husbands and sex with children? UUUGGGHHH!
not all homo’s are beasts,we actually love our neighbors and our country. and you should preserve marriage between a man and a women.
IMPEACH OBAMA NOW!

The hypocrisy demonstrated on a daily basis by the Left is nothing new. A company that employees 50,000 with jobs and these miscreants are willing to try and destroy it simply to support their cause? Of Course! I am amazed that “Buffalo Butt” Michelle Obama hasn’t attacked this company because they are producing a product she finds offensive to our nutritional well-being…or was that national security??? It demonstrates the often time ludicrous attack mode, disguised under the title “political correctness” that the Left uses to control public opinion. It is meant to slander, liable, and demean anything that is contrary to their opinion.
I, too, will never darken the door of another Home Depot! They took little children, gave them a cute little orange apron, and marched them in a gay rights parade in Fairfax, Virginia. What if a group of Tea Party supporters had dressed their children in Betsy Ross dresses and Minute Men outfits and marched them in a memorial day parade? The Liberal Left would have come unglued, screaming that the Tea Party was programming these children with hate-mongering and racism! God forbid they carried a sign that said, “God Bless America.” As we celebrate the 100th Birthday of a great man, President Ronald Reagan, I call upon Christians of every denomination to support Chick-Fil-A. Do not let the Left destroy any more of what is good in this nation!
We need to go into attack mode! The ACLU, the communist front in American, should be brought up on RICO Act charges. The atheists that lead that group should be charged with subversive activity; a security threat to this nation. Of course, we will have to rid ourselves of corrupt Attorney General, Eric Holder, before any action would occur. His immorality disgusts me. I never thought we’d see a day where the A.G. feels perfectly comfortable not enforcing the law racially neutral.

When you start out with NAME CALLING in the second sentence – that’s when you lose me and lose your argument.
February 2, 2011 @ 12:43 pm
Please note folks! This is a perfect example of a Liberal Leftist utilizing “political correctness” to ignore the issue at hand. He can’t win intellectually, so he attacks the writing style of the person making the point. Now…let’s consider the names Sarah Palin has been called by Liberal/Leftist/ Marxist Bozos like this guy . She been called a “Nazi”, a “Hitler”, a “Hate-Monger”, a “bulldog”, a “McCarthist” and worse. Where is your outrage at that, Hypocrite?
We all noted that every one of your posts lack intellectual content, with your resorting to a “Nah Nah” childish response to our valid points. You’re pathetic, Young Man, and the type of person that needs to re-access your intellectual capacity to vocalize a position. The fact is you don’t have a cogent thought in your head.
February 2, 2011 @ 1:08 pm
@bobnip YOU are the one ignoring the issue at hand and swinging over to more name calling, none of which do I condone on either side and has been fairly equal but not part of my comments to other postings, which you apparently have not read.

scotpond losing you sounds like a great idea to me, go and blog in the NY times.

Have eaten there a few times. Now I will inrease my patronage. BTW, I am neither a Christian, anti-gay, nor a chicken lover. But this type of campaign against them is reprehensible.
