They aren’t real cuts! Merely reductions in the rate of increase? When’s the last time YOU got a raise (though thankful if you’re keeping your current job)?

Somebody has to call BO’s bluff. After all he got this extension to March 1 with a tax raise and absolutely no concessions (read spending reductions). When people finally realize the tax hikes that are coming at all of us I hope there is the first glimmer of hope.

I’d like to see our government try a freeze on spending levels. For one fiscal year, agencies can only spend the same amounts as the year before. With a slight increase to allow for inflation. Let’s see our financial situation then.

odayterrence,
What you just proposed to do is exactly what the Sequestration is. It is a cut in the rate of increase. It is NOT a cut of spending. It is a freezing of the increase.
If you were making $500.00 a week this year, you would be making $500.00 next year. If you got a 3% raise you would get $515.00 a week. Sequestraton doesn’t let the government get the 3% raise. No jobs lost, no cuts in services, no panicked hunting for money to run your department…NONE.

I think you are thinking of the proposed reduction in the military personnel pay raise. That is only a small part of the proposed cuts. The bulk of these cuts are real budget cuts, e.g. $42.7B in defense cuts in 2013.
