Ryan fails to endorse Trump but will work for unity

GOPUSA StaffUnited Press International Posted On 11:51 am May 12, 2016

House Speaker Paul Ryan stopped short of a full endorsement of presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump after a face-to-face meeting Thursday on Capitol Hill, but in a joint statement the two said they are “committed” to unifying a fractured Republican Party.

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, who also attended the meeting, called it a “positive step toward party unity.”

“While we were honest about our few differences, we recognize there are many important areas of common ground,” the statement from Trump and Ryan reads. “We will be having additional discussions, but remain confident there’s a great opportunity to unify out party and win this fall and we are totally committed to working together to achieve that goal. … This was our first meeting, but it was a very positive step toward unification.”

The sit-down followed Ryan’s comment to CNN last week that he was “not ready” to endorse Trump. The remark underscored the reservations many Republicans have about turning over the party to a standard-bearer who has frequently flouted both party orthodoxy and political norms.

For Trump, winning over Ryan would send a sign to the remaining holdouts in the GOP that he meets enough of their requirements to win their support.

Trump will need the party’s backing, especially when it comes to fundraising. The billionaire real estate mogul has paid for his own primary campaign, but now must build a fundraising apparatus that can bring in more than $1.5 billion in just six months to pay for the general election.

For Ryan, the party’s 2012 vice presidential nominee and the highest elected Republican in the country, deciding how best to handle Trump comes with potential pitfalls. Ryan has made clear his first priority is to preserve Republican control of the House. His reluctance to endorse Trump was seen by many as providing political cover to fellow Republicans in swing districts where moderate voters have expressed reservations about Trump’s candidacy.

Ryan has also been a leading voice on matters of policy in Republican circles and Trump has repeatedly staked out positions that do not align with Ryan’s conservative vision for the economy and foreign affairs.

Increasingly, however, Ryan has less wiggle room in at least accepting Trump as the nominee. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has endorsed Trump, as have a group of influential House committee chairmen.

After his meeting with Ryan and Priebus on Thursday morning, Trump met separately with House and Senate Republican leadership.

“Obama’s Omnibus Bill” Ryan hopefully will be defeated soon.

If Ryan remains as Speaker of the House, he will endorse Donald Trump and work really hard to get him elected POTUS, otherwise he has a snowball’s chance in hell of getting any agenda he wants signed into law under Hillary.

Wake up Paulie Boy!

Donald Trump should publicly state that he will not endorse Ryan or anyone else who voted for the budget bill (to include Texas senator Cornyn). I mean, isn’t that the reason for Trump, to “throw the bums out?” We’ve been duped too long.

Donald should not endorse legislation to allow men into women’s wash, and locker rooms like Obama and company is, thus putting our women, and children at risk. True Conservatives are not double minded Libs, are they?

If Don proves he will bend to the less than 2% who put our families in harm’s way in bathrooms where they ought to be safe, then he cannot be trusted in other matters.

Some of your religion of constitutional secularism humanism which came about only in 1962, in the guise of separation of church and state; with values as , no creator of the universe or man, and no moral absolutes. This separated the values of Christianity from Government, Law and Education. Now Secular Humanist leaders can use the no moral absolutes to legislate almost anything by Secular Humanist Constitutional Law. That is why secular civil liberties lawyers can arbitrarily sue almost anyone. The values of secular humanism has put loopholes in secular law for criminals.

Ryan does not want this kind of leader, and he wants this perversion corrected. Who else is there but white versions of Obama ? Real Conservatives vote for double minded lib conservatives when their are no other alternatives. Ryan is doing what any decent parent would do.

People or the voters may see cowardice for those fearful of being voted out of office, but to be sure what have they done to keep their jobs? Perhaps they should endorse Trump and asked for the people’s confidence instead of hiding.I just have a feeling that if they keep a distance from Trump it may cost them their own election.

The little dweeb from Wisconsin seems like a better candidate to be a Board member (or clerk) at Target than Speaker of the House.

The failure of the Speaker to STRONGLY endorse the candidate selected by Republican voters is primarily an embarrassment to the RINO/Establishment/Republican/Democrat Lites in charge of the Party. Further, it damages the Party, but that is nothing new!

We the voters have been sullen, but not mutinous. We are now Mutineers!

Ryan is being a prima donna. He knows he’s not presidential material himself. Now he plays spoiler. He doesn’t do what the majority of American people want who have nominated Trump then he won’t last long as speaker. It is outrageaous he would do anything now to give Clinton a better chance. If he is then that’s proof he and the dems are all in the same establishment club.

Why doesn’t Ryan try to unite the ‘party’ with the voters – who have spoken? Maybe he doesn’t understand who the voters are. Maybe he thinks they are just people who pay so they can continue to party on our nickel.

Sarah Palin should double up and collect enough signatures from Paul Ryan’s constituency to oust him well before the Republican convention. Also, Donald Trump should order Ryan to stay away. Donald Trump can unify the Republican party by campaigning for NEW Republican candidates everywhere and thereby get the bums [ such as Ryan ] out.

Don ought to say that he will not legislate men to use women’s wash, and locker rooms putting our women ,and children at risk. He will probably change his mind on this because of decent parents, who will hold him accountable.

Even Don has to be held accountable. About Obama who said in his letter to Muslims,” my father was a Muslim, and we had copies of the Koran in different languages.” He therefore knows very well what the Koran teaches. Jeremiah Wright Obama’s mentor and so-called Christian Pastor was a racist black pastor, and still Obama was elected. Two faced democrats cannot be trusted, regardless of their color.

The Wisconsin State Primaries are coming up. RINO Ryan could lose his seat. Republican Businessman Paul Nehlen will challenge Ryan in the Wisconsin State Primary to be held in August. After checking it out, the voters in his district are very disgusted with Ryan. Nehlen has been building up quite a following in Ryan’s district and could knock him out of the General Election.

Political groups or organizations should work to seek out and encourage new people to run against the incumbents in the primaries. That way you can vote against the incumbent without having to sacrifice party loyalty. If you remember, that is what happened to Senator Arlin Specter and Congressman Tom Foley. This can work against everyone in public office from the President right on down to the local office holders. If you are not happy with them, fire them.

    oldsarge,

ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. Ryan was elected by a very small number of Wisconsin voters then elected Speaker, primarily by RINOs in the House. We can’t rid ourselves of all the RINOs in the House, immediately, but we can aid in the “Cantoring” of Ryan.

I’m sure Ryan’s opponent in Wisconsin would find a way to effectively employ funds to allow Ryan to have more time with his kids – full time, at home in Wisconsin, playing with the dairy cows and eating cheese!

Talk about GOPUSA spin … Rep. Ryan didn’t “fail” anything. He’s trying to get the attention of the non-Conservative narcissist, loose cannon on the deck of the USS GOP. Democrats and their partners the liberal media have already stockpiled enough dirt and pop-offs on the Donald to report a new scandal every day until November. Trump needs to think before he speaks, and get smart on many issues in a hurry. I, too, am “withholding” support until I can decide if Trump can be presidential and win the general election. Keep on him, Rep. Ryan.

Ryan has failed in a number of ways. He failed when he funded Planned Parenthood and every other radical liberal issue in the budget.

Ryan has failed to come up with a new budget that the House will pass.

Ryan failed in his debate with Biden. He let crazy uncle Joe make him look like a fool.

Ryan failed to endorse Trump which will end up hurting his political future a lot more than it hurts Trump. But, it’s always interesting to hear from a #NeverTrumper for Crooked Hillary. I hope you will be happy with your choice, Mark.

To paraphrase from The Wizard of Oz, if only Trump scarecrows like Snowy and rzvsrm had a brain.

It used to be that mainly Democrats employed personal hate attacks against anyone who dared speak the truth. Now the know nothings include Trumpers who transfer their pet agendas onto true conservatives they don’t even know … such as, if you criticize Trump’s constant pop-offs, which he has to backtrack the next day … then you most be for Hillary.

I was a never Hillary long before the hashtag, as I held a TS-SCI clearance and know without a doubt she’s committed serious felonies. I was a never Bernie because I actually know the difference between capitalism under our Constitution guaranteeing individual rights … and socialism, a failed utopian scheme that’s never worked in human history. So, save your little, junior high name calling for somebody that cares.

When Trump, if he doesn’t wise up and fast, loses the general election catastrophically, taking down GOP house and senate seats with him, and guaranteeing an activist, laws-creating Supreme Court … then it’s all on you, Trumpers. You should have done your homework six months ago.

Mark, we are faced with hard reality here and not a Hollywood fantasy movie made for children. Time to step into reality.

Donald Trump was certainly not my first choice.. I was for Ted Cruz all the way and I still think he would have made the best president. But, Cruz didn’t win. Donald Trump won. He faced 17 other Republicans of various ideological persuasions and he picked them off one by one.

The hard cold fact is that barring tragedy or indictment, the next POTUS will be either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.

Paul Ryan’s actions show that he is unable to face that fact and that is just one more deficiency in a long list of what’s wrong with Paul Ryano. So, what do we have as Speaker of the House? We have an Obama enabling #NeverTrumper for CrookedHillary. I hear that donations are flowing to his Wisconsin opponent.

MarkWynn: I hate to say it, but I was for Cruz at first even though I wasn’t sure he could get it done in the general election. Having said that, Trump is the surviving candidate. Is he as conservative as Cruz? No! Does he love America? Yes Does he want the best for America or himself? America! Ask the same of the (D) candidate ….The answer is No, No & No! You can build flow charts all over the place with simple answers that anyone can understand. The fact is there will be 2 major candidates. If they throw the third party into the mix, you can thank those people (who vote for 3rd party) for basically killing off America’s chances of survival. Time to suck it up and vote for the one who has America’s best interest at heart – this is it…our last chance! Do it! Wake up!

Trump is a strange cat to politicians like Ryan. They want to sniff Trump to see if he can join the pride. They are afraid of losing their jobs. Trump has the people behind him. He’s gaining momentum. Meanwhile Clinton is on a big time losing streak. She is clearly tainted. Trump will be the next president simply by fleshing out his ideas. Ryan best get used to Trump’s common sense approach to fixing problems. He doesn’t he’s the one whose life-time career in politics may end.
