Cops as pigs socks.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Colin Kaepernick began the game by taking a knee during the national anthem. The veteran quarterback ended it with reason to hope he’ll have more games with the San Francisco 49ers.

Kaepernick passed for 103 yards after kneeling in protest alongside teammate Eric Reid during the national anthem in the Niners’ 31-21 preseason victory over the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night.

Kaepernick and Reid, a starting safety who wasn’t playing, declined to stand for the anthem before a preseason game dedicated to military appreciation by the Chargers. Kaepernick has decided not to stand this season to draw attention to American racial injustice, minority oppression and a litany of additional concerns ranging from police brutality to military veterans’ rights.

“The message is that we have a lot of issues in this country that we need to deal with,” Kaepernick said. “We have a lot of people that are oppressed. We have a lot of people that aren’t treated equally, that aren’t given equal opportunities.”

Kaepernick then played a solid first half in his competition for the 49ers’ starting job, going 11 for 18. The veteran didn’t have an interception or a touchdown pass, missing on two potential scoring throws in the waning seconds of the half. He also rushed four times for 38 yards.

Less than four years after leading the 49ers to the Super Bowl, Kaepernick is in competition for the starting job with Blaine Gabbert, who didn’t play in San Diego after getting extensive playing time in the first three preseason games for the Niners (2-2).

Kaepernick hopes to be the 49ers’ starter, but he is likely also in competition for a roster spot after a disappointing 2015 season during which he lost his starting job and had extensive injury problems. Although Kaepernick realizes he still could be released, he’s hopeful of a future with the Niners.

“This is a phenomenal organization, and I’ve had great conversations here,” Kaepernick said. “I’ve had great memories here, and this team has given me the opportunity to become the man I am today. I’m grateful for that. I’m thankful for that, and San Francisco has become my home.”

Niners coach Chip Kelly wouldn’t say whether Kaepernick’s play had improved his chances to win the starting job – or to avoid being cut.

“We’ll make those decisions when we watch the film,” Kelly said. “That goes for everybody on the football team, not just Colin.”

Kaepernick didn’t play in the current preseason until last week against Green Bay, when his refusal to stand for the anthem first gained attention.

Kaepernick got only scattered boos before the game and during the anthem, but Chargers fans serenaded him while he led a 16-play, 85-yard scoring drive to open the game capped by DuJuan Harris’ 1-yard TD run.

Christian Ponder passed for 101 yards and rushed for the go-ahead touchdown for San Francisco with 3:08 to play, improving his own chances for a prominent job in the Niners’ fluid quarterback picture.

Marcus Rush got his fifth and sixth sacks of the preseason in the second half of a standout performance by the San Francisco linebacker. After Rush forced a fumble that led to Ponder’s TD run, he intercepted a deflected pass.

Kelvin Taylor sealed the Niners’ win with a 10-yard TD run with 1:55 left.

Kenneth Farrow rushed for 63 yards and a third-quarter touchdown for the Chargers (1-3), who rested their stars. Isaiah Burse caught a 17-yard TD pass from Mike Bercovici in the third quarter during strong performances by both roster hopefuls.

Chargers fullback Chris Swain, a rookie from Navy, also scored on a 2-yard run in the second quarter.

Farrow excelled in his competition for the third-string running back job, breaking off a 44-yard run on a third-quarter drive. He is hoping to secure a role after Branden Oliver was lost for the season with an Achilles tendon injury.

“I definitely had to step up tonight, being that there is a hole in the room,” Farrow said. “I feel like I did a good job, and we’ll see what happens.”

Kaepernick socks worn in practice depict cops as pigs

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick says he has been wearing socks depicting police officers as pigs in protest of “rogue cops” who put the community and other officers at risk.

Kaepernick issued a statement on Twitter on Thursday after photos began circulating on social media of him wearing the socks that show a pig dressed in a police hat. The photos were taken earlier in training camp before Kaepernick’s refusal to stand during the national anthem as a form of protest became public.

“I wore these socks, in the past, because the rogue cops that are allowed to hold positions in police departments, not only put the community in danger, but also put the cops that have the right intentions in danger by creating an environment of tension and mistrust,” he wrote. “I have two uncles and friends who are police officers and serve ALL people. So before these socks, which were worn before I took my public stance, are used to distract from the real issues, I wanted to address this immediately.”

Kaepernick created a firestorm last weekend when his decision to sit during the national anthem in protest of what he called oppression of African Americans and other minorities became public.

Kaepernick has said he plans to sit for the anthem again Thursday night when the 49ers player their final exhibition game in San Diego.

I hate this MF, I really do. This country has handed him EVERYTHING on a silver platter and all he can do is whine and complain about its oppression. Honestly, I wish I could black-bag him and the members of BLM and drop them in the middle of Syria or Iraq so they could be with their ISIS brothers, since they seem to think that’s a preferable form of government.

Seems that San Fransisco is the only place he could do what he is doing without a load of excrement headed his way. K does not realize that the Democrats have done most of the oppression he hates from the late 1700’s until now. Ignorance must be bliss for him.

Real and Nunna.. Do you think had it been a white football player who felt “due to oppression and stuff” he wouldn’t stand for the national anthem, and wore socks being derogatory to cops, he would have gotten the same “pass that Kapernick” is getting???

What a shame. Apparently, Colin thinks this is cute. He would not think it cute if a white NFL football player wore socks with a mixed race beady-eyed with kinky hair QB depicted as a monkey. If any white NFL player wore socks like that the NFL Player’s Union would disavoy him, the owner would suspend him, the ACLU and NCAA would attack him, Black Lives Matter would picket his home and threaten his family, and the Revs. Al and Jesse would start protests that this white player who wore such socks should receive a life time ban from professional football.

There is a solution for this problem it is called “LIBERIA”. This Country in Africa was bought and paid for the American Slaves to return to after the Civil War! The mistake our Vorfathers made is not to make it obligatory.
Many returned, but some of the ones that remained sure caused America a lot of grief! It would have been a lot more humane for everyone. Read History!

I’ll also bet he had his way paid through college by government checks and other grants. Yeah, he has been oppressed alright! He doesn’t mention that he probably got into college because of his minority ethnicity even though some white kid had better grades, and didn’t get to go. He’s an ungrateful whining piece of $#!I!! He’s disrespecting all police officers because of one or two out of a thousand that are Wyatt Earp types. Everyone is occasionally oppressed to some extent, but man up and work through it! How much you want to bet that many defensive opponents are going to be hoping to get a knock out hit on him when they get the opportunity during games

Sitting, standing, one knee posture, socks with pigs—-OMG! Enough already! Will someone (mom, dad, clergyman, pal, coach, NFL, 49ers guy who signs his paychecks) PLEASE, for the love all that’s good, TELL this punk *** kid to ****?? Guys younger than he is are out there fighting and dying for his right to be a jackass. Now he’s got an Afro. I heard he’s a recent convert to Islam. Whatever all of these shenanigans represent–his “message” has gotten lost; his antics look clownish; he will lose out eventually, and he now looks like a guy who desperately needs attention and/or a psychiatric eval. Maybe he’s one of those guys who took too many hits on his noggin. If any of his mates are joining his misguided protest (time and place mean everything, little man) then they should suffer the same fate.

For the record, is it a BLM thing? A poverty thing? A legal/criminal justice thing? Anti-white thing? Huh? Or is it a too-tight underwear thing. Okay, so go comb your hair, straighten up and fly right. You look like a petulant little boy…no man would tackle a serious issue or issues in this way. If you can’t go back to “normal,” then please find another country in which to live. For now, you are a gigantic pus-filled pimple on the NFL’s butt.

There he can show the locals old films of his “glory days” sitting on the bench, on one knee, with a new hair thing (that ain’t a style)–THAT oughta impress ’em wherever he’s goes. A teammate? The private security at his residence?) Did his mom and dad (y’know those white folks who adopted him)…have respect for the law? Or are they equally bizarre? IF they support their son, then they ought to show up at games and do something meaningful…but THAT would be so far beyond stupid that I can’t tell you. He may have the personal right to do this. However, when in uniform, he represents the TEAM and they have the right to expect him to stand for the national anthem. A counter attendant at McDonalds has expectations of how to represent the restaurant and the football team owners have a right to have expectations of how the players represent the team. Therefore they should dismiss him like McDonalds would dismiss someone who was rude to their customer base.

As a Veteran, I am outraged that the Management of the 49’ers, and of the NFL, and their many sponsors, actually tolerate this absolute disrespect of the Flag, and our Anthem, that Veterans, of all colors and allied nations, fought for!

There is a proper place and time for peaceful protest, but, taking advantage of
all of the paid NFL and 59’ers expensive network time, to do it, cheapens sports and those who support healthy competition.

We Veterans are a very large chunk of their revenue and fan base, and now expect the the MORALS CLAUSE in player’s contracts will have to be imposed, because the acts so far have serious lack of morality, and waste the time of
    the sponsors, and we fans.

This decorated, retired, Air Force Veteran of Six Viet Nam campaigns, will NOT be watching any more NFL games, nor will I purchase the products of any of the sponsors of the NFL.

Now, I see that Colin has decided to poison the well of team mates, one by one. THAT evil act hammers the LAST NAIL into his coffin, for myself, and all the Veterans whom I know and associate with!

This fool only thinks he’s insulting cops by wearing socks depicting cops as pigs. In reality, however, he is describing cops at their best. I used to be married to a cop who wore a PIG watch. Inscribed on the watch was the clarification of exactly what PIG stands for, which aptly describes the great majority of America’s cops — PRIDE, INTEGRITY, GUTS! Thank you to all of our police officers for being there for us when needed, even when you are often not appreciated and are mistreated. God bless you!

Certain to repeat many of the same comments as others, but it should be repeated that when someone like him makes it out of the oppressed area he claims to advocate for, he signed his very life to a career, with enormous compensations and for which he promised to give the game, the fans and his “stage” every bit of the best quality performance and character he can muster. He has further incited to riot against police, and has destroyed the reputations and admiration for the profession previously so highly valued from millions of young men and women in this world – humanity we respect and dedicate ourselves to without reservation. Socioeconomic and political issues are addressed on other venues.

And by the way, what makes you the expert on where when and how a person should protest what he feels is wrong?

    Seems like he’s having a mid-life crisis at 28.

Of course he is silent on stats that police officers and whites in general being
20 TIMES more likely to be murdered by a black than a black by a white.

DOJ statistics on violent crime and race, 2012-2013, the most recent time frame available for this demographic, and consistent with statistics from 2008. “In violent crimes involving blacks and whites, blacks were found to be the perpetrator in 84.9% of such incidents.” Granted, this addresses general population incidents, but, one can extrapolate from this, that black violence against cops is at least as high, and probably higher, than in the general population.

harison, deny the obvious truth all you want. Statistics PROVE that blacks are responsible for WAY more than their proportionate share of ALL crime, and VIOLENT crime in particular. And, if you try to refute that, you only prove my earlier observation.

As a retired Deputy Sheriff I am appalled with his uneducated display and regurgitation of the BLM talking points. Yes there is problems but the biggest problem is percentages of all demographic groups refuse to get off of their lazy behind and make something of themselves. The Constitution never guarenteed a handout only Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. So people want better then take responsibility for your actions and work for something better. That will fix the inequality perceived by some. As a side note i didn’t mind the term pig because it stands for Pride, Integrity and Guts none of which this overpaid entertainer has in his repertoire.

He also has the right to scream FIRE in a crowded theater, but why should he? He has absolutely no right to cry repression, oppression or any other thing ending in “ion”, because he sure as hell has never experienced it during his soft lifestyle…. He wants to know about these “ion” things, he needs to talk to the remaining Tuskegee Airmen, and not just the pilots, but the mechanics as well. Then he needs to talk to the remaining Negro infantry from WW2. He needs to visit the cemeteries at Valley Forge, the graves along the trail to Quebec, Gettysburg, Arlington, France and Belgium, the islands in the Pacific and the National Military cemeteries here at home. These are the ones that gave all so that this underprivileged brat can exercise his right (GOD given, but militarily protected by all that went before and ARE STILL going, BUT in his stead)to be an anal opening.

The 49’ers play at Chicago in early December this season. Why not have Jim Corneilson sing the Anthem standing right next to little Colin, (assuming he is still on the team), maybe surrounded by a squad of Army Rangers, Green Berets, Navy Seals and some Chicago P.D. Jim himself is 6’5″ and looks like he could play for the Bears, and he performs one of the best renditions of the Anthem I have ever heard, along with the reaction of the crowd. Nothing needs to be said to CK, just shame the youngster; see if he can take it.
