Islamic jihadists proclaiming allegiance to the Al-Qaida terrorist group are directing “lone wolf” militants to perform acts of violence at the upcoming 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, specifically targeting athletes from the Israeli Olympic delegation.

A list of athletes to be targeted was reportedly posted on social media and disseminated by jihadists to be carried out against those on the Israeli delegation, as well as against athletes on American, British and French Olympic delegations.

“One small knife attack against Americans/Israelis in these places will have bigger media effect than any other attacks anywhere else in sha Allah,” the social media directive reads, according to a report published Thursday byThe Foreign Desk.

The call incited lone wolf terrorists with the usual jihadist language.

“Your chance to take part in the global Jihad is here!” the writers of the post exclaimed, according to the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ). “Your chance to be a martyr is here!”

In the call for jihad, participants were encouraged to take advantage of how easy it is to obtain visas to travel to Brazil, while also noting that guns can be easily accessed in the “crime-ridden slums” of Rio de Janeiro.

Among the four Olympic groups targeted in at the Rio Olympics, the Israeli delegation was mentioned as the biggest prize.

“From amongst the worst enemies, the most famous enemies for general Muslims is to attack Israelis,” the social media post continued. “As general Muslims all agree to it and it causes more popularity for the Mujahideen amongst the Muslims.”

The lone wolf terrorists were spurred in the social media post to kidnap Israeli athletes so that they could be used as bargaining chips to free Muslim prisoners in the near future.

More terrorist problems in Rio

Another jihadist threat was reported by Brazilian Justice Minister Alexandre Moraes, who maintained that the federal police in Brazil arrested 10 individuals on Thursday who were taken into custody as suspected terrorists acting in support of ISIS, according to the Jerusalem Post.

It was also reported by Globonews that the 10 detained were allegedly working in alliance with ISIS.

The terrorist threat was taken very seriously by top government officials in Brazil.

“The presidency said that interim President Michel Temer had called an emergency cabinet meeting,” theJerusalem Post announced. “The justice ministry said in a statement that the operation spanned nine states in Brazil.”

Confirming the Islamic threat, the Israeli news agency also informed that a court in the southern state of Parana said that it has reason to believe that the jihadist group was perpetrating an attack using weapons and guerilla tactics to carry out its terrorist goal.

Taking threats seriously

Meanwhile, after a presumed Brazilian jihadist group recently pledged its allegiance to ISIS, an announcement made by Brazil’s intelligence agency was issued indicating that all threats to the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro are under investigation. The much-anticipated games begin on August 5 and last two weeks.

Other warnings have also been issued to ward off more potential attacks by jihadist terrorists in the wake of the latest wave of mass killings that took place during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan around the globe.

“The SITE Intelligence Group that monitors the internet reported the previously unknown group calling itself ‘Ansar al-Khilafah Brazil’ said on the Telegram messaging app on Sunday that it followed ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and had promoted ISIS propaganda in Arabic, English and Portuguese,” the Jerusalem Post reports. “Brazilian authorities stepped up security measures following the truck massacre in Nice, France, last week, planning security cordons, additional roadblocks and the frisking of visitors in Rio de Janeiro for the Olympics.”
